"I don't like to exercise because I get bored doing the same thing all the time."

This is probably the second most common excuse for not exercising, with the most common being "I'll start tomorrow."

It's too bad that boredom is such a common reason for people to stop exercising and give up on their weight-loss and fitness goals.

Fact is, overcoming boredom as it relates to exercise doesn't have to be complicated.

Now there is some truth in our boredom excuse statements.

I mean, think about it for a second. Who wants to do the same thing day after day without seeing results or getting any type of satisfaction?

No one, right?

So it's only natural that if people are not able to make their workouts effective and enjoyable, the more likely he or she will give up on their goals.

Here's the thing.

There are literally tons of ways to make exercise exciting and worth the time you invest.

I know that getting bored with exercise can affect anyone, from the new kid on the block to the seasoned exercise veteran. In fact, everyone will eventually reach a point where he feels that his workouts are getting stale.

That's why people who are just starting to exercise should look to several "starter" exercises to keep their interest high, rather than choosing only one simple exercise such as walking.

With that said. . . Beginners should look for several exercises such as cycling on a stationary bike, low-impact aerobics, or yoga to include in their exercise regime.

Variety is key when it comes to your exercise plan.

Adding variety can be accomplished in many ways:

  1. Never do the same exercise activity two workouts in a row. If you go for a walk today, try a stationary bike tomorrow.

  2. Try a circuit training format for your workout. Choose two or more exercises, maybe a stepper, a stationary bike, and walking on a treadmill. Spend a section of your workout time on each one. Or alternate resistance training and cardiovascular exercise with each other throughout your workout.

  3. Replace your normal workout activities with a fun recreational activity such as basketball, tennis, or racquetball. Although they may simply seem more like a fun activity, recreational activities are true exercise too. try a free 7-day sample of our EPHEDRINE FREE weight-loss formula to help you lose up to 10 pounds safely and effectively.

  4. Keep a journal of your exercise activities to remember what you did yesterday, last week, and last month. This will help you avoid repetitive workouts and generate new ideas.

Sometimes even small additional changes to your workout will do wonders to help keep you motivated and on track.

  1. Buddy-up! Find a workout partner to keep each other motivated. Workout partners not only can bring fresh ideas to your workout, they can also make your workouts seem quicker. You may want to include a workout partner in every workout or only from time to time for certain exercises.

  2. Make small variations in your normal exercise activities. If you normally walk laps around a track or have a regular walking route, change directions or alter your route periodically for a little different spin on the norm.

  3. Change your scenery. If you normally do indoor activities, take it outdoors from time to time. If you normally do outdoor activities, check out what your local fitness facility has to offer you.

  4. Try working out at different times. Some people enjoy working out later in the day as opposed to earlier in the day. Some feel that they feel the best and see better results when they exercise first thing in the morning. So try different times and determine what time is best for you.

Needless to say, when it comes to ensuring that you're keeping your exercise program fresh and new, the possibilities are endless.

The important thing is to be open to variety in your routine and try new things.

Whether you're just starting out or have been exercising for a long time, it can be easy to get stuck in a rut.

So keep your exercise options open and explore new variations. That way you can stay on track to reach your weight-loss and fitness goals.
