My DH recently trimmed his goatee too. It is also very short, so I can understand. But he did it for professional reasons...That thing was getting long too, but now that its gone I can see how I miss it so much! He does look younger, but his weight loss has exaggerated how young he looks. He just turned 29 in May, but hey, he still looks good, and sometimes men can change their look too.
Your DH looks Good Girl! It'll grow back....Give it a few weeks, see if you like it...But watch out, if it got the results we got then chicks are going to do a double take:) LOL
Ms shaz, I'm not robbing the craddle, just rocking it a bit!!!! LMAO!!! but on the serious note, yes, we just drove my daughter to Tennessee. I'm a very young mother, but I'm still older than FH and the age difference is not bother to us, my family nor his. He's a wonderful man and so very dedicated.
I've been monitoring the storm very closely. I'm suppose to be in FT. Lauderdale on the 9th. I have 2 weeks down time and I'm spending it with my baby. If I can't fly, I will drive, but one thing's for sure, I will be there. Listen to me sounding all brave and such. Sister please, if the storm turns towards FT Lauderdale, I'm really not sure what I'll do. I miss my baby so much. God will protect everyone in the wake of this awful storm. I've been praying for the impact not too be as harsh as Katrina.
Mrs 080908, I haven't used my china set yet. My Opal Innocense are still in the boxes that we received them in. After my wedding, when we're driving to florida, they'll be in the car with me. I don't want to run the risk of getting my chinas broken, by placing them on the moving van.
You will enjoy your first formal dinner party. That will give you the perfect excuse to use yours.
G, I think he looks great. But I understand where you're coming from... I just love to see a man with a well groomed goatee. But just imagine touching and kissing his soft face without it. I'm sure you can get used to that huh? LOL.
I'm like Bumble... WATCH OUT for the other chickies. He's very handsome girl.
CMT, I'm not really worried about the other chickies, believe me. I'm secured in my relationship and he's definitely not interested, but you know, I don't mind them looking, my baby is F-I-N-E and he comes home to me.
Gurl, you must be busting at the seams!!! ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!!! I'm excited for you!!!
MrsJ, I'm not sure now if I want him to grow it back very quickly. Like Teresa said, I'm looking forward to having an affair with my own newly shaven FH. When I get to FT. Lauderdale next week and see him up close, I'll see how I'll react. FH says that he's loving the way people look at him now as if they recognize him somehow, but can't really place him. He said that when he tells everyone that's him, they don't believe him and ask for proof. He's loving punking everyone.
Wow! Is it THAT serious? Asking for proof ...do you have a pic of him WITH the goatee? My DH is the opposite!!! He won't keep hair on his face for nothing!!! Pisses me off. I love hair on a man face. And with DH already being so little, he already looks younger than me ...this older lady had me cracking up in McDonald's one day! "Awe ain't that sweet, your son buying you breakfast this morning" ...At first I didn't know whether she was trying to say if I looked old or he looked young! LOL

I been married a year and a half and I have only looked inside on box of the 10 sets of china we recieved. They are still sitting in their individual boxes they arrived in too!
Naw, Ms T, them asking FH for proof was just his friends joking with him, but his office mates didn't recognize him though.
Bumble, maybe you should just have a special candlelight dinner for just you and your DH in order to use your china and all. I plan on using my sets all the time. My baby deserve the very best always and of course I'll reserve a set for special occasions. What if God takes me sooner than anticipated, I don't want to regret not using them (LMAO).
Well ladies, I'm sorry I haven't been in touch. During the passing week, I only had time to stop here and there and join in some coversations. I just wanted all of you to know that I appreciate the support by providing me much needed advice on my blog. I pray that it'll continue as the planning of my wedding progresses.
I will be on a plane to FT. Lauderdale tomorrow morning hopefully,to spend 2 glorious weeks with my FH, family and friends on both sides. During that time, of course, I will not be stopping by to say "how do" to all of you because... Oh well, you know. In any case, when I return, I'll have much to say (LMA0)!!! I'm not really sure who's getting married while I'm away, but in case I don't catch you before I go, Congrats and good wishes.

Man T, some prople are bold. People don't think before they speak.
Hey G, I was wondering where you were. When I returned I had to go back and read to catch up on all and everything that I missed.
Anyways, hope you're enjoying your FH and having LOTS of FUN. LOL
Wow, I got back late yesterday. The plan was for me to stay longer, and return on the 24th, but due to a family emergency, I had to cut my trip short.
Well, let me give you details of my mini-vacation/Engagement party: All and all, everything was great except for near miss Hurricane Hanna and Ike. My engagement party was due to take place in the Florida Keys. As I've previously stated my MIL had everything covered and we provided our photog. Well, the hurricane did a way with all of that. First and foremeost, with the evacuation of the Florida Keys, everything was a mess. The restaurant that was to host my engagement party, of course had to board everything up as they were on mandatory evacuation due to the hurricane. Even the Airport was shut down by 7PM in anticipation of Hurricane Ike. Wow, now On Wednesday, when I reached FT Lauderdale, everyone was telling me about the anticipated hurricane and how they had to postpone everything at the restaurant and do something else. :OH, I forgot to say that my plane was only delayed for 5 1/2 hours leaving DCA. I reached Florida truly late. Did I care? No way, I was going to see my honey. Okay, how about Nothing happened except for some very strong winds and some annoying rains in some parts. My MIL was apologizing as if she controlled the weather. I had to soothe her by saying that I didn't want a big to do anyway. So we ended up grilling steaks inside and everything was just simple, but great. As for our photog ~ canceled due to the hurricane, but I'm okay with it because FH's cousin used my camera and we just had some family shots. Now the bad news (of course they'll be some), my camera is still in FT. Lauderdale and is being forwarded to me. A cousin of FH's wanted to do face painting for everyone and I was the only ginea pig to take the bait, so I don't care and of course, they'd be pictures of me with my face still in war paint and me complaining and FH hugging me telling me that I looked great. So all and all, I had the type of quiet engagement party/family dinner that I'd always wanted without the fanfare of my MIL's. All I wanted was some finger foods and just me, FH, his mom and Dad, his brothers and my sisters. That's all and thanks to Ike, that's how it happened, so I thank God for that. As soon as I get my camera back, I will post pics.
The next day we went to South Beach and FH and I had a marvelous time. I know that I'm a Florida girl, but there's just something about coming home after being away for a while. Florida is always so welcoming. OMG, I had a magical time with my honey. We love each other so much and of course, his mom and Dad absolutely love me. They think I can do no wrong as it is (Poor FH). He truly have a very close bond to his family and I could go on and on about my trip, but on to other news.
NEW WEDDING DATE: SEPTEMBER 12TH, 2009 AT 6PM, IN FT. LAUDERDALE, FL; REASON: FH wanted a date change in honor of the anniversary of our 1st date (to tell you the truth, I didn't remember, after all these years, bad me ) and my aunt, who'd represent my mom just had a stroke and I didn't want her to travel and besides, she already resides in Weston, Florida. Now, we'd only given a $350 deposit on the hall rental, so it's not a big deal. I had to call and cancel the hall, but seriously if they don't book the hall in my time slot, I forgeit my deposit, but that's okay because I want my aunt to be as comfortable as can be.
WE'RE KEEPING THE SAME THEME, AND COLORS THOUGH!!! NOW THAT I'VE GOT 11 MONTHS LEFT, LET THE PLANNING BEGIN!!! WOOHOO!!!
Ok Divas, FH and I were on wedding planning mode while we were together as well. While I was with him, we finalized the design for our Monogram and I think it came out pretty well. Please give me your opinion.
I've also ordered materials today to make our Save-the-Date cards. I'm still working on the design. Once I'm all done, I'll post the finish product.
Pebbles, you're not the only one leaning that way. I'm leaning towards it myself, however, I might have an issue with the pastor. He is so conservative, but the gown comes with a shawl, maybe I could arrange it so I could wrap it arround my shoulders and under the arms and pin it with a brooch or something towards the back. That way, my shoulders will be covered. He was somewhat insisting on it. I can't wait to locate a salon in Florida so that I could try both of them on. I'm scheduled to go back in December though, we'll see. In the meantime, my baby comes in a few weeks and I can't wait so we could work on the Save-The-Date cards together. I should've received the materials by then.
Welcome back G
Glad to hear all went well for your engagement party. As you might know "Hurricane Ike" was gracios to arrive the weekend after my wedding ( THANK GOD) but he did cut my honeymoon a day short because of the airports grounding all flights in Houston. But I see it turned out well for the booth of us. I love your monogram and both gowns are stunning, but I have to agree with Teresa, on the second gown.
Welcome Back Sis!!!!!
Im glad everyhting went well with the party and your new family. I cant wait to see the pics!! My vote is for the first dress its soooo pretty!
I'm really torn over this gown business. There's a lot of reasons why I'm also leaning towards the second gown. the main one being that the pastor will have nothing to say that's negative about it, but the first gown is so very magical. So classic but then again, they're both elegant. I'm so torn.
I still haven't located a salon that carries Mary's bridal gowns without me having to purchase it first. I want to at least try it on and see what I'd look like before I go ahead and order it. I'm still looking though.
welcome back G!! glad that you had a great time with FH!!! I love gown #1 also...I know you said the Pastor is conservative, but honey, if you don't have the "girls" packed tight for dress #2, your FH may not be able to say his vows from looking at all the cleave! LOL
I love your monogram, and can't wait to see pics from the engagement party!!
MrsJ, you're a hoot and a half!!!, but I know what you mean. I have to make sure the "girls" are packed in there girl. I want FH to be salivating as soon as he sees me. To make matters worse, we will be writing our own vows. I want him to trip over himself (heehee). I'm bad aren't I? (snickering loudly)
I've just asked FH to sing for me at our wedding. He has such a wonderful voice and I loose myself whenever he sings. He told me that he was thinking of surprising me with a song, but that he's not sure if he'll be able to do it without loosing it. AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww, isn't that sweet? Well, I hope that he'll do it. There is this french song that he sang for me in the car the first time he told me he loved me. It's a great song and would be perfect, but he doesn't want everyone to see him loose it. So keep your fingers crossed. I hope he'll do it though.
Ginoue, welcome back...and you're so lucky to get your FH to sing for you at the wedding. I asked hubby about singing, and he was like, "No, way." LOL! Anyway, I would have been shocked if he agreed. I was already shocked that he agreed to write his own vows, knowing how shy he is, I didn't want to push my luck.
I'm sure it will be be beautiful! So, it sounds like you've already got your venue reserved despite the change for NY to Fl. That's great!
I just had a thought. A few years ago, I started falling in love with this pattern called toile de jouy and started collecting a few items, especially bed linen.
For those not familiar, Toile (pronounced twahl) means "cloth" in French. "Toile de Jouy," or "toiles de Jouy," are terms that refer to fabric that was first manufactured at a factory in Jouy-en-Josas, a village located southwest of Paris, near Versailles. Founded in 1760 by German-born Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf, (1738-1815), a textile entrepreneur.
Since I know you're into your Haitian Creole culture, how about using some toile patterns in your wedding? I've seen it in shades of red, pink, blue, and black. It's as classic and elegant as you can get.
Welcome back G, Glad to hear everything went well despite the storm, and my chioce of dress out of the 2 would be #2 I love everything about it. I see your changing your place to get married, Shoot and your venue in Springfield, NY is like 10 minutes from my house in Elmont and I had plans on crashing it, Oh well, Lol J/K. Oh and FH singing for you at the wedding would be perfect. There won't be a dry eye in that place.
VIPrincess, wow, where did you find those patterns? I am in love with them. Those are truly magnificent. I love the gift bags, the placemats, wow, I love all of it. Thanks for the ideas. Where can I go to view them?

Ginoue, I just did a basic web search for "toile."
Here's a few of the websites I saw:
napkins and tablecloths
http://www.crossroadscottage.biz/sitesearch.php
They've got some great sale prices. You can purchase their tablecloths for less than it would cost to rent them.

It might not conjure up thoughts of Old Hollywood Glamour. It's more Antique..French Country. You can add a few touches here and there instead of everywhere. The pic with the roses reminds me of that Royal Doulton "Old Country Roses" china you mentioned you inherited from your grandmother, I think it was. It would definitely put that personal, cultural stamp on your reception. I know I've come across Paris-themed favors and such. Check out this article: A Fete to Remember
I'm really digging the Eiffel towers, wine, cheese and French pastries. Did you notice that the cake in that article looks a lot like your wedding cake? You could even keep the champagne tablecloths you mentioned and order them in that lovely damask fabric.
And now that I think about it, that first dress you keep going back to reminds me more of ooh la la Paris than anything else. I love that lace veil...and you said your groom is going to sing you a song in French at the ceremony. Did you reserve the reception venue? You could create a romantic French garden indoors or outdoors. Sista, you've got some decisions to make. But I think you're going to have fun! If you're still thinking Old Hollywood Glamour, don't forget...

actress/dancer Ms. Josephine Baker who was all the rage in France.
or another lady I was fortunate to meet once in my life...
Ms. Katherine Dunham
An American dancer, choreographer, songwriter, author, educator and activist who was trained as an anthropologist. Dunham had one of the most successful dance careers in American and European theater of the 20th century and has been called the Matriarch and Queen Mother of Black Dance. During her heyday in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, she was renowned throughout Europe and Latin America as La Grande Katherine, and the Washington Post called her "Dance's Katherine the Great."
In 1945, she opened and directed the Katherine Dunham School of Dance and Theatre near Times Square in New York City. Her alumni included many future celebrities, such as Eartha Kitt, who, as a teenager, won a scholarship to her school and later became one of her dancers before moving on to a successful singing career. Others who attended her school included James Dean, Jose Ferrer, Jennifer Jones, Shelley Winters, Doris Duke and Warren Beatty. Marlon Brando frequently dropped in to play the bongo drums, and jazz musician Charles Mingus held regular jam sessions with the drummers.
Dunham was also known for her anthropological work in studies into Haitian and Caribbean culture. She spent time in Haiti, she investigated Voodoo rituals and years later, after extensive studies and initiations, she became a mambo (priestess) in the Vaudon religion. She also became friends with, among others, Dumarsais Estim

He truly have a very close bond to his family and I could go on and on about my trip, but on to other news.
Wow, I just wrote a bunch of stuff and it didn't post!!!
WEDDING BLOG UPDATE!!!
WOOHOO!!!
UPDATE ON MY GOWN:
I narrowed it down to 2 choices:
Choice #1
Choice #2
Could someone please help me? I don't know how to resize pictures. Thanks Divas!!!
Ginoue I am really feelin dress number one it is hot.Have you tried it on yet.

Welcome back Gin!!
Glad you had a good time.
Thanks Divas!!!
UPDATES LADIES!!!

Hi Ginoue,
I just had a thought.

Ginoue, I just did a basic web search for "toile."
Here's a few of the websites I saw:
napkins and tablecloths
