Hey ladies. So FH and I are going up to Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks to do some tastings, and I will also have my first fitting!! I'm so excited!! So I have a few cakes that I really like, and FH gave his opinion on which one he likes, but he hasn't seem some of the most recent options I have added. I will show him when I go up to Atlanta this weekend. I would just like your input on which of these cakes you like most. By the way, our colors are Victorian lilac and Celadon, so keep in mind there will be some color variations on the cakes! Thank you!
I have wanted a cake that looks like stacked presents ever since I saw a photo of one, but then I saw the photo of the cake with the orange flowers, and I really love that one too! I just found the picture of the 3rd cake with the green bows, and I really like that one. My FH only saw the first two cakes, and he to chose the one with the orange flowers, as did I. But then tonight, I saw the 3rd one, the one with the green bows, and I found myself liking that one also. Knowing my FH, he'll still choose the first one, and if this is the case, we'll definitely choose that one!! This is about the only thing he has given input on!! I ask for it, he's just the type to say "it's up to you, I don't care"...lol!! So whenever he offers his opinion, and it's something I can tolerate, I happily accept it!!
The one with the orange flowers looks almost like the cake I had except mine was done in a octagon shape. You can see it in the wedding pics forum under pamcrows wedding pics.
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
My venue is supplying the cake for us .... are any of you ladies venue doing this? should I take it or buy my own? I think the cake is all white, I thought I could always have someone decorate it with flowers or something.
My cake was included in my venue price as well. The venue didn't make it but they have a contract with a local area bakery who I had to schedule an appointment with to discuss what I wanted. Fortunately, my cake was within whatever price range the venue has contracted for and I didn't have to pay an extras to bakery. You should check with your venue to see if they will lower your reception price if you supply your own cake and if they charge a cake cutting fee should you supply your own.

All of you ladies have lovely choices... I would like to post a couple of pics for cakes I love however I'm still struggling with posting pics.
I dont remember what website I found the pictures on, but I've got them saved on my pc... so please help a lady out.
Eurika (I finally found it)... Just goes to show what a little perseverance can achieve. Below are my choices - not sure which one to finally go with when I do pick.
nice Future! those are very pretty also! what are your colors? I saw some pedastals with colored lights inside that was gorgeous!

Thanks MsJ! My colors are dark red, gold, and ivory. Love the idea of adding lights to the pedastals!

ladies-after the cake tasting today and looking at other cake designs, I am beginning to question the fountain...is it too outdated??? I like the "elegant" look, but I personally I haven't seen the fountain being used much lately...
I see that you like Fondant cakes Teresa, but within your choices, I would have to pic the first one.
Here are some ideas for your cake. Maybe one will please you
As for my cake, I still like this one
At the base of my cake, I will sprinkle a mixture of real rose petals in Daphne Rose, Merlot, Champagne and Gold.
Theresa how do you feel about your cake? Remeber your day, your way. I think the cakes you have pictured above are very elegant, go with your heart. If you choose to add some color, please do so if that is what your heart desires. All the best and let us know what you decide to go with.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
One thing I haven't though about is the cake. It's difficult to mix my 2 themes of Valentine's day and the Caribbean. FH's aunt should be making the cake. Any ideas of how to combine the 2 themes (Bumble - I know you won't let me down!!)
A local baker in St. Thomas made our delicious vanilla pound cake wedding cake with strawberry filling. I was more concerned about taste than anything else and didn't want to go with the standard cake offered by the hotel. We used their standard cake as the smaller groom's cake. I purchased the stands, the candles, and the sugar paste flowers, and decorated it myself. We requested 4 tiers but she threw in a large 5th tier for free. I just had to give her the cake stands when we were done with them. I loved the delicate look of the sugar paste flowers. They're like little works of art.
At first I was going to purchase crystal initials, but since we were getting married under a gazebo, I purchased the traditional bride and groom cake topper and placed them under a gazebo that had words that said "Love is patient and kind" which was the scripture read during our ceremony. I thought that would be a cute addition to the traditional and a beautiful keepsake.
The wedding cake is nice. I'd be careful though. It's very narrow and tall. It would be nice if the tiers were wider to give it more balance.
Is that a money decoration on the groom's cake? Huh?
I was thinking about going wider and down sizeing it to 3 tiers but IDK yet we will see...And Yes my FI wants a money cake...LMBO!! It went from a Casino style cake to Money!

I want so badly to post my cake in here. FH and I were at that bakery to choose the design of our cake exactly 3 hours ago. They had a display there that doesnt show up on their website.

It's true, Sweet P. If you're bling blinging all over the place, and he has a cash money cake, and people know that your wedding and your dress cost a lot of money, you can't go half-stepping with the favors. They're going to expect the favors to be "tight" or else they're going to think you're cheap whether or not they're getting free drinks and a meal. That's just human nature and the straight-up truth. I was just reading about that somewhere the other evening.

I like the one with the orange flowers, but I think the bow on top of the other two are affecting my decision!
I think the one with the orange flowers won hands down. I actually think the bows all around the cake is a bit much.

thanks pamcrow I will do just that. By the way whats a cake cutting fee?
Just what it sounds like - a fee they charge you to have their staff cut and serve your cake. It can be per slice also so make sure you double check!
