Hi ladies,
Do you any of you know a make-up artist who uses MAC who isn't charging $150 plus? I know I am not from NY but that seems a bit much considering you can usually get it done for a lot less in store. I like MAC, but at this point I would go with another line that looks good on both light and dark brown skin.
Please let me know. Thanks ladies.
Hi ladies,

Nope. Not even in little Tallahassee, FL.
Couple of options:
1. Try a Mary Kay person. Shop around though, different consultants charge different fees. So with a little extra sleuthing, you may find a great price. I sold MK products so I know. As a past consultant I would do it for free if they bought a couple of products from me for the wedding. I usually would do a wedding look for them when I do a facial for them, because even the cleansing products are excellent, and they usually would buy that and a little make-up, then I would give them a huge discount on lip glosses, bath and body products that they like to give as gifts to their bridal party. So they get a free service from me, and get about 200.00 worth of product for much less than what they pay! This is something a MAC consultant would turn their nose up at:) But do a search on their website for a consultant near you.
2. Do you have any friends or trusted relatives who always wears banging make-up? For a small fee or gift, you may be able to do a couple of trial runs, purchase the color of shadow you want, then have your friend do all of you guy's faces.
3. DIY. Go to the MAC counter, and pay the small fee for the facial. Purchase the colors you want-the fee usually goes towards purchases, and get the color cards (Your MK consultant can provide them for you too)-the color/look cards have a face and the placement of which shade of eyeshadow, lipgloss/lipstick/eyeliner, lipliner goes where. Do a trial run, and you all can DIY! My SIL did this, and with me and my mom's help (for free of coure) we enhanced and tweaked it per her desires.
Happy Planning.

When my cousin did her make-up trial at a MAC counter the consultant provided her with a piece of papaer with a face on it and detailed what she did as well as all the products she used on each part of her face. Since she doesn't wear makeup on a regular basis she asked the girl if she does side jobs. Turns out she did and came to the church on the wedding day and did her and her MOH's makeup for $75 for both. You may want to try that route if you really love the MAC line.
Well I actually went to a MAC store and asked some of the girls if they do freelance work and the quotes are insane. I am really thinking of not getting it done at all, I am so discouraged.
Why not try Mary Kay, Blissful? They're truly magnificent.

Bliss, go to the Mary Kay website, www.marykay.com, and search for a consultant by zipcode. When I was a consultant, I entered up to 5 zipcodes that people can put in so my name would pop up. So put in a few of the closest zipcodes, and when you get a good list, make your calls. I would also browse the website and look at their "virtual makeover" page. You can put choose the woman with a facial structure and skin tone closest to yours and pick different eye color combinations and lip and cheeck colors. If you see something you want to try, you can ask your consultant about those in particular. They also have a bridal page.
Another option is to get the number to your closest school for cosmetology as astheticians (facial people), and request their students to work on you for a very very low cost. They often already have clients (especially if they are already good, and just working on official credentials), and may even have a portfolio available with their work.
All is not lost. You very last option like I said can be to DIY. most people who do great make-up are good with practicing on themselves, and on friends-like myself. So you can become good by taking a little time, and seeing what you come uo with.
