Floral Budget

Im curious to know what everyones budget is. If you don't mind me asking and if your wedding has passed what was your budget, did you stay within or did you go over? I was given from a good friend of my family a gift of $1,000 to put towards floral arrangements, I hope its enough to cover it all because I could be spending money elsewhere. The good part is that Im having only 120 guest so there wont be crazy amounts of tables which should bring the price down, Right? I dont know much about flowers ( all I can identify is roses and tulips) I know its a shame. So I come to my sistas for any guidance please.

Re: Floral Budget

Sensationablyhappy, I'm so glad you're also getting married in New York, so I can share ideas with you.

First of all, I think it's really great to receive that $1,000 gift towards your flowers. What a generous gift. I think I can help you stay within that budget and not have to spend a penny over. Isn't that great news!!!

Now I'm not sure how many attendants you'll have, but I have this spectacular florist!!! I use them every chance I get. Her company is called "Flowerworks Wedding Center". It's located in Brooklyn at 547 Nostrand Avenue. Their phone # is 718-230-9393 and their fax 718-230-9158.

Ok, now down to how you could best spend that gift towards your wedding. Flowerworks has a bridal package that will be better suited for you because they give you a choice of Roses or Exotic Flowers. For $395.00 This is what you will receive (and yes Diva ~ I said Roses or Exotic Flowers!!!)

Their Deluxe Package go for $395.00 and includes
1 Bride's Bouquet
1 Maid of Honor's Bouquet
3 Bridesmaids Bouquet
Free Throwaway Bouquet
1 Flower Girl's Basket
2 Mother's Corsages
1 Groom's Boutonniere
1 Best Man Boutonniere
1 Ring Bearer's Boutonniere
4 Usher's Boutonnieres

*** YES, GIRL, I'M NOT KIDDING YOU, YOU GET ALL THAT FOR ONLY $395 + TAX. THERE'S MORE!!!

So, if you should decide to go with that package, you still have roughly $605 left before tax. Ok, for 120 people at your reception, you would have about 16 tables ( depends if you have tables of 8 or tables of 6); Let's just say you have a max of 16 tables and you need floral arrangements. Well, for an additional $135.00, you could get 20 Carnation bud vases with babies breath and greens, a large oval arrangement and extra greens for the bridal table. If you choose to have that with Roses instead of Carnations, it will be $175.00 instead. Let's just say for arguement sake, you decide to go with roses. That's 20 Roses bud vase with Baby's breath and greens, a large oval arrangement and extra greens for your bridal table for only $175.00

How does that sound so far? Now you have your entire bridal party taken care of for $395, you have your table centerpieces for $175.00, and you still have $430 left before tax to play around with. Let's see what else we could get you. YES DIVA, I'M ON A ROLL!!! DON'T STOP ME NOW!!!

CONTINUING, HOW ABOUT SOMETHING FOR YOUR CEREMONY? IMPOSSIBLE, YOU SAY? WATCH ME NOW!!!

For $280.00 you could double the church package order, but instead of being stuck with 2 aisle runners, you could ask her to substitute that aisle runner for 2 additional Pew Arrangements. So, if you decide to do that, you will now have for your Church Package 4 Large Altar Baskets, 1 Aisle Runner 8 Pew Bows (with greens), 4 Pew Arrangements.

WOOHOO!!! You now took care of your Bridal Party, Your reception table centerpieces and your Church $850.00 before tax and you still have $150 to play around with!!!

SO, HOW DID I DO FOR YOU DIVA ~ SENSATIONABLYHAPPY? IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO FOR YOU? PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK. IF YOU'RE NOT SURE ABOUT SOMETHNG, YOU HAVE YOUR VERY OWN ADVISER RIGHT HERE.

NOW, YOU COULD JUST PUT A BIG OL' CHECK NEXT TO FLOWERS BECAUSE YOU'RE DONE.

P.S. Oh, I almost forgot. You don't really have to sweat though, you could just walk right on in, someone's always there. You could give them a deposit whenever and the balance would just have to be paid the day before your wedding. That's all they ask. Oh, and I know that they charge $25.00 delivery fee to Queens, because that's how much they're charging me, but you would definitely want to ask them how much to deliver in Great Neck, New York. In either case, you still have some money left over to treat that very generous friend to dinner with just you and your FH, just to say "Thank You". Continue your planning sister. You're doing great!!!

Re: Floral Budget

Oh Diva ~ yes, it's me again. Just in case you decide to nix that "taking that very generous friend to dinner" idea. With the balance of that money that is well over $100, you could go to www.orientaltrading.com and under their wedding heading, you could place 6 orders of their 10" round glass mirrors for the reception table. They're $9.95 for 3 of them, so 6 orders will give you 18 mirrors for $59.70 plus tax!!! Then skip over to Bed Bath and Beyond and buy 3 boxes of votive candles with candle holders. The box has 12 votive candles with holders for $7.99 per box = 36 candles and holders, for a total of $23.97 plus tax.

Now wait for it!!! YOU'RE DONE!!! HERE'S THE LOOK!!!

Picture this, ok? Reception table, a 10" round glass mirror in the middle of the table, your bud vase in the middle of the round glass mirror and 2 voitive candles with holder also on that mirror ( well, one candle on either side of your bud vase) Imagine that on every table? That my dear, would be very beautiful and you've now used your entire $1,000 but have flowers for your entire Bridal Party, your church is now decorated with flowers, and you have table centerpieces for you reception tables. WOOHOO!!! YOU'RE DONE!!!

Re: Floral Budget

Sorry, sensationablyhappy, they do not have a website. They're a very small floral shop, but they get a lot of business. That's why there able to set their prices so low. It's certainly worth it to give them a call and stop by. They have great books to choose from. Copy paste the information that I just gave you to a word document. Print it and take it there with you. That way, you know exactly what you want and how much they cost. They will not pressure you at all. That's why I love them so very much. They're very professional though and always, always on time. I can sing their praises forever, but that's the cheapest you're going to get it to have roses at your wedding. Trust me. Give them a call.

Re: Floral Budget

Well, sensationabyhappy, aren't you glad I'm here? Talk it over with your FH and decide what type of limo you guys are looking for and I'll give you great contacts as well. Here are just a few choices you could make. You could have Hummers, Limo buses, Navigator Limos, Cadillacs, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Mercedes, etc... My FH and I decided to have 2 Hummers and 1 1952 Rolls Royce Phantom. So we will have 2 22-24 passenger Hummers for 4 hours, and the Rolls Royce to drive me and my uncle (He's giving me away as my Dad cannot) to the church only.

So talk it over and let me know and I'll give you some people to call. Just food for thought, on an average, you would need about 2 limos

BTW, how many is in your bridal party?

Re: Floral Budget

Alright, I've worked out some great things for you Diva ~ Sensationablyhappy. How about a couple of 2008 limos?

Well for 1500 you could have 2 ~ 2008 ~ 12 - 14 Passenger Porsche Cayenne ~ Truly breathtaking. Imagine the ooosss and aaaahhhhhs of your guests as you and your bridal party pull up on these numbers. It will cost you $750 instead of the custumary $900 that other limo companies are charging.

Also, if you decide that you're not into Porsches, how about 2 ~ 2008 ~ 12 Passenger BMW 750Li ~ for $ 1,400 for the 3 hours instead of $1,900 from other limo companies.

Or, you could go vintage ~ how about a 1956 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 2 passenger for you and your father to go to the church. Rent it by the hour. It's only $150 per hour. So you'd rent it for one hour to take you to the church, and an additional hour for you and your new husband to arrive in style to the reception for another $150 (now they may charge you 20% extra for travel fee etc..., I'm not sure, but still a bargain for a vintage car of that calibur). Then, you'd also get a 2007 Infinity QX56 ~ 20 passenger for your entire wedding party to go to both church and reception for only $750.00 for the entire 3 hrs and it comes equiped with an XBOX 360 to keep them occupied for a little while. So should you decide to go that route, you'll have the 1956 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud for $300 for the 2 hours. You'll aslo have the 2007 Infinity QX56 for $750 for a total of $1,050.00

Note that the prices that I told you about does not include taxes or tips (it's customary to tip 20% of your total package) and any one of those packages come with Red Carpet service, Tuxedo Chauffeur, Champagne, sodas, or some type of hard liquor and soda. That's pretty good when you think about it. If you're interested in that company, let me know. I use them all the time. I will give them a call for you before you go down there, so they don't charge you a lot of money. Now the price that I've given you are ordinarily what they charge my bridal couples whenever I'm doing a wedding. I'll be more than happy to pass this savings on to you. So, discuss it with your FH and let me know when you both want to go there and I will set it up for you. They require 20% of the total price at bookings, so go prepared with your checkbook or credit cards and they balance must be paid 15 days before your wedding. TADA!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's it Diva!!!! Let me know.

Re: Floral Budget

You're only getting the 1 limo housewife? Is it a 10 or a 12 passenger limo? That's a great price for you Diva. Too bad I haven't branched my business into New Jersey, I could've had some contacts to pass along to you too Diva.
