Place Cards

Is anyone doing these? I want to try and DIY these. Where do I start what kind of paper do I buy, do I put them on tables or hang them on the back of chairs? If anyone have any pictures to share please share thanks.

Re: Place Cards

I am doing place cards, however I will be purchasing mine. They are not that expensive. I have never tried to make them however I am assuming you will need a strudy paper. I will have mine on a table so when cocktail hour is over they can go to the table and pick there seat. If you are not having a cocktail hour you can have a table in/or in front of the entrance into the hall an have them set up there. I think that would be better then having them hang on a chair or already on the table. If you had it like that they will be going from table to table trying to figure out where to sit

Re: Place Cards

Well, I sort of am except, I'm having Tent Cards. They're just like Place cards. I plan to have them on my wishing well table. Ok, rewind, let me explain. I plan on having a table at the entrance of the reception hall. At the front end of the table, I will hae a big bow, one Merlot and the other Dusty rose. The Vase with the Merlot ribbon will say "Make A Wish" and will hold strips of paper for our guests to make a wish to us. The Vase with the Dusty Rose ribbon will say "Take A Wish" will be pre-printed wishes for our guests. Then on the rest of the table, we will have Tent Cards, displaying the Name of our guest and table number.

I plan on making my Tent Cards from the scraps of paper left over from making my Pocketfolds for my invitations. So, it's not going to cost me anything at all and I'm really good at Calligraphy so I will be handwriting my guests' names and table number.

You can definitely DIY yours though. Go to your local office supply store and in the area where they sell stationery, you will find some that say "Place cards, Tent cards". Then all you have to do is print them out. Or if you're DIYing your invitations, you could buy any 65# cover stock from your local office supply store. Then use Publisher to make your Place cards. You'll be fine. By the by, Place cards, if you're having them, should be placed on the table where your guests will be seating. Somehow, you have to tell your guests which table they will be seating at. That's why I've chosen to do Tent Cards. They come in. They see their names. They pick up their cards and make it to their tables.

Let me know how I could be of further assistance sensationablyhappy.

Re: Place Cards

Everything is being held at the venue so I have 3 seperate rooms for everything, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. I figured I would have people just mingle for the cocktail hour and sit where ever and have assigned seats at the reception. I will probably have a little table outside the reception room with little cards with the guests name and table# and then when they get to their table they just look for thier name and sit. I can have one of my attendents there to help them and also have my guest book to have them sign on thier way in. How does that sound?
