So what do the Vibrides do for fun (Between wedding planning, school, work, raising kids, etc)?
What are your hobbies, talents, unique trade, or maybe you have a business you'd like to start using a talent you've had or like to develop.
Me: I read and collect National Geographic Magazine (I know...I' a Nerd), but we have them from the 1950's.
Travel
Dream business: Bakery or Confectionary/Ice Cream/Candy shop to do custom cakes, desserts, for parties, for fun or for events...
I am practicing my cake decorating skills right now.....Maybe I'll plan weddings down the line...who knows?
But I wish I could do hair or something lucrative like that...!

Wow, you have a very interesting life. I wish you the best on your dream business!
As for me, I like to use my creativity alot to decorate my house, I am licensed stylist but dont like to do hair much but when I do, I like to do styles that are totally different from what we see now.
My dream is to own a hair salon/spa but not have to do services myself. I want to just have to check in from time to time. LOL
Also, Bumblebee I am thinking of the same thing with wedding planning, I am always having parties and helping others find what they need for their events. I have my first real client coming after my wedding, it's my friend, that is my gift to her, since i am new to the game.
I am a avid reader! I love to read. Not really into the romance novels/true crime or scary, but I read alot of fiction.
I am also very active in my church (choir, praise dance team, New member chairperson) and so I am there atlease 4 days out of the week (not including regular service days)
My dream is to one day become a foster parent. Actually this is something FH and I have already discussed at great lengths and plan to start taking classes etc by years end.
WOW! You guys are also getting into some BIG things!

I bowl. Actually my whole family does! My 7yo son is in his 3rd year in a bowling league and my 2yo is already trying to get on the lanes!
I also do financial planning, including taxes and credit repair, so I've been very busy lately! Missing you ladies!
I've always wanted to open a coin laundry, and/or a combo barber shop/hand car wash. Not participating - just collecting money! LOL!
I would love to start a wedding planning business for brides with budgets under $15k. For some reason pwople don't believe you can have an elegant affair for low prices in Chicago.
I like to cook, but I don't seem to get to do that much due to FI crazy touring schedule. I like to travel as well and stay in nice hotels. And sad to say I love love love tv and I like reality shows but not the mainstream ones like survivor, etc. I like things like project runway and top chef.
I'm working on becoming a booking agent for comedy shows and maybe start an event/wedding planning business.
Real love requires a minimum of emotion and a maximum of the will - Bishop Keith W. Reed, Sr.
Awesome! I definitely want to learn more about you guys....

Well I do like to read ..but the more I get into accounting and HAVE to read to UNDERSTAND ...Im not liking reading to much anymore! I like watching tv and cooking ...
I like creating things to the point where I am been requested so many times to do things for others ...invites, games for parties ...that sorta thing, so I have started a "small" company called uNIKque's ...meaning Nik ..which is me :) inside of unique ...pronounced U-Nikki's..I do have site but didn't put it up bc of I don't know ...
It's so much I want to do...Daycare, be a Mentor, Work at home doing bookkeeping and taxes (when I finish school) ...
Talents that I have now are ...doing hair, which includes braiding and cutting guys hair, sew which includes designing too ...I made all my maternity clothes, cook, and feed 3 kids a healthy home cooked meal with 5 bucks!
Oh and my friends, at times think I am their personal comedian ...

Soon2bmsj, you are I have a lot in common.
My hobbies are working with the youth in my church. I direct the youth choir as well as plan services/activities for the young people (i.e. black history month, "Youth Encouragement Services, Family Day, etc.). I wish my pastor would give us permission to have a praise dance team, but he is soooo old school.
I also love to read. I read everything, magazines, novels, fiction, non-fiction, etc.
I love "little people" and would hope to open up a 24-hour day care center. My two best friends are a nurse and police officer and I remember the challenges that they had working non-conventional hours. There are so many woman (& men) who need good, safe and reliable child care.
You ladies have some wonderful hobbies and aspirations.
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37

I can really believe THIS part because you are hilarious at times!!!!
I love to read and listen to music. I've been dancing since I was 6 and have spent years training in lyrical jazz, afro-haitian, and samba. I just decided to perform in Carnaval for a third year!
I work with foster youth as a child psychotherapist but I really want to work as a mentor for kids who may not need mental health services but rather an older sister or role model who's in it for the long haul.
P.S. Soon2be, please pursue your dream. So many kids need a home to come home to.
I also want to continue the research i started in grad school about Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in war-torn/developing countries within the Diaspora *whew!*
That is sooo cool Musik! Dancing in the carnival for the third year -- awesome, that must be so much fun!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
I'm a little late, but I LOVE to read. Everytime you see me there's a book in my hand. I usually reading Novels, anything from Eric Jerome Dickey to Stephen King as long as it's a good story I'll read it!
I also run in races, 5k's 10k's 1/2 marathons...I'm training right now to run in my 3rd 1/2 marathon.
I would love to pursue a career in personal training and own a gym one day. I am still working on getting my certification, but I just got my first official paying clients a couple weeks ago. So I'm training her now and it's so FUN! She's lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks!
I am also very active at my church, I sing on the praise team and the choir.
Hmm.. I'm a little late on this one too.
In my spare time.. I love to sleep :)
My dream job is to become a night club owner. A really trendy nightclub that caters to the 25 and older crowd with Jazz nights and such.

Every so often, I like to dress up and lounge around in places like these. It's very unwinding.
I always wanted to be a writer, but you know how that goes. I cant come up with a fresh idea if my life depended on it. And apparently, so can't a lot of fiction authors out there these days. I love to read also, but I havent finished a novel in awhile. One of the books that I have opened and never finished were "Freakonomics" which offers some very interesting insights on life. My favorite part of the book was how they look into the names of children according to their parents income and race.
Okay, I'm babbling LOL! Right now, I have my heart set on the last Easy Rawlins mystery *the name and author of the book escapes me now*
As for my other hobbies: I also like to travel, checking out art galleries and museums as well as create some art myself, and I'm ashamed to say that I am still into comics. I thought that I would be about to outgrow them by now, but whatever. LOL! This is one of many ways that FH and I bond. Every wednesday we sit in bed and read new comics like they are newspapers.

awww...that's sweet! :)

The author's name is Walter Mosley, he wrote Devil in a Blue Dress. I plan on reading all of his books, he's a great author! I just got done with Fearless Jones, it was pretty good. I want to get into his Easy Rawlins series, but I would like to read in order, just need to figure out the correct sequence and go from there...
Wow, I'm really late on this as I've been very busy traveling and my laptop crashed, but I'm back home to MD and back with my sisters.
You ladies are truly inspirational. I feel a kinship with all of you and your goals and accomplishments. As for me, I guess one could classify me as a true book nerd. I love to read and do so avidly. I love music of all genre, but I just can't get around to accepting "rap" music. Sorry. My hobbies include interior decorating ( I do so on occasions for family and friends), cooking/baking (I'm really good too!), embroidery. I also have a love of the silver screen and love all the old musicals. I was raised by my grand-parents, so I've seen a lot of old movies and identify with them better. I guess, I'm a girl living somewhere in between time.
I worked hard to obtain my masters in Finance and Marketing. After nearly 13 years of corporate america, working as a Senior Vice-President of a Managed Care company, I am finally working at my dream job. I stop having other people profit out of my hard work and use my experiences towards my own goals now. I currently own my own business "Serenity Management" which includes a wedding and event planning business (Serenity Event Planners). I've been planning weddings and special events since I was 17 years old. I love what I do now. I'm great at helping people realize exactly what they envisioned their dream day to be. It gives me a natural high whenever my clients are a bit fuzzy on details and I show them something and they said "this is exactly what we meant". I love seeing that smile and know that I've done all that I can to elleviate their stress for one of the biggest day of their lives. I'm also in the developing stages of the second part of "Serenity Management" which is a Real Estate and Mortgage Company ~ Serenity Real Estate.

Very interesting, Ladies! Bumblebee, thanks for starting this topic! My hobbies are cooking, sewing, traveling, and computers (I am an internet junkie. I would stay online all day if I possible). I love to read.
My dream business is to start my own trucking company and trucking school. I would like to "give back" to the community by training and employing ex-offenders and single parents who really desire to "get ahead" in life but just need a little help. I would also like to open a wedding chapel and offer elegant and affordable wedding packages.
I love writing short stories, too. Who knows. One of them may become a Hollywood Blockbuster or a Lifetime movie. Lol!

Wow Plat!! a woman of many talents!! :) I think that is a very cool idea about the trucking company/school!!
You're awesome Platinum!!!
Thank you, ladies! :-)

I attempted to post on this thread before but for some reason it didn't go through and I didn't feel like typing it over at the time. I'll just do a condensed version now.
I love to read. Mostly urban romance books because I can identify with many of the characters or situations being presented. I also enjoy reading motivational/self help books and I'm not ashamed to admit i enjoy reading erotica and books on Karma Sutra. I guess you could consider that self help too..LOL
I enjoy doing arts & craft, floral arrangements and any type of decorating. And although I don't get a chance to do it often, I enjoy hosting home parties (card parties, girls night, fight parties, etc.)
If you ask my DH, he would say I love to argue and I love being right...LOL. In some regards he is right (don't tell I said so) because I love a good debate. I think I may have been a lawyer in another life, hubby jokes that I was the DA, CIA, and the FBI. He knows not to test the the investigation/interrogation skills...LOL
Like others have already stated, I also dream to open a banquet hall to cater those with budgets of $20,000 or less. I want to provide a room that's basically a blank canvas to each customer so that they can transform the room into whatever they envision for their event. No two events exactly the same. I already have my eye on a building but unfortunately I'm not in a position to buy it. So for now, I just enjoy doing event planning the way I do it now but one day.......
Let's just say I'm naming it and claiming it now.
And see this was supposed to be a condensed version. Bumble I think we might be related..LOL

Ms. Pam- I think WE are related! LOL FH ALWAYS tell me that I am a lawyer-"why did you do it, where, when, how??" I don't think I am that bad...but maybe I am.. :)
