Re: WISH LIST

You sure are not ...but mine are cool with it ...bc I do tell them their list can not exceed 3 items! (from me).

About the dog ...go on craigslist (in your city)-they are sometimes giving away dogs/animals...check this I got 3 from there...didn't pay a penny and my daughter had the nerve to ask the person that help conceive her for a freaking puppy for Christmas! I told her doesn't she realize that puppies grow up? Not to mention there are 3 dogs and 1 cat in here-we don't need nuffin else that requires food and care.

My son wants a PSP with games and clothes ...and the baby wants a skateboard, a computer, and jumprope ...

You know what I told them ...Yall always MAKE me nice gifts every year (that half the time I have no clue what they are) ...how about I MAKE yall's gifts too :)

Re: WISH LIST

Girl there is something in the water -- LOL!!!!

My daughter (17) wants some Ugg boots -- $150. My daughter also knows that if her grades were not up to par she would not get those boots. Yes it is conditional, I'm good to my daughter all year around, so she knows. Her dad is giving her money.

I just got off the phone with my girlfriend and she bought her 17 year old daughter a $350 cell phone, a northface coat and some boots -- I would never do that!!!! It's her money so oh well, but she has 4 other children that she spent equally as much money for. I am not judging, but this particular daughter is disrespectful and always in trouble at school. I've always been taught, that you do not reward bad behavior.

I think it is up to us as parents to let our children know what the holiday season is truly about. Things have become so commercialized and some people are really depressed because they can't keep up with the joneses or afford to buy gifts.

I don't know about you guys, but I am grateful that I am alive, in good health, have a wonderful family, a great job and am very much loved! That's enough for me! I am trying to teach my daughter that she is blessed and doesn't need anything outside of herself to make her happy.

Turiya you are too funny!!! LOL!!

Re: WISH LIST

Rhony, sensational, I would love for one of ya'll to start a post about kids/teens and this whole JaimeLynne Spears pregnancy thing....

But I agree....no rewards for disrespect....me and hubby were talking about the Spears thing in the car this morning, and the whole disrespect and parents taking initiative to be the adult and not the friend came up too....

We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

Re: WISH LIST

Turia you are too funny but you are speaking the truth.BTW we got the puppy already but I Know some people who are looking so I will pass on that info. Thanks

Rhony I truly hear you on that one sometimes people do forget what christmas is really about. I really like the way you are going about it with your daughter, but your friend is "excuse me" but out of her mind buying all that stuff for her daughter and she is doing so poorly in school.

Bumble that whole 16 and pregnant thing going on with that girl is crazy, as if thier family is not in the media enough already. These people are crazy.

I agree. I kind of feel bad for JamieLynne, that is a lot of pressure for a 16 year old to have to deal with. Her face is being plastered all over the media. My daughter told me that Nickelodean dropped her because of the madness that is going on in Britanny's life. I don't know how true that is though. I'm sure they will drop her if they haven't already because of the negative image that is being portrayed.

What ever happened to the good old days when 16 year olds just "talked" and giggled about boys with their girlfriends? Now they are fully engaged in sexual relationships that they can't handle.

Re: WISH LIST

My children has always had limits and although, I could never regulate what my family buys for the children, they always knew where mommy stood. Being a single parent of three children, there was always the limit of 3 gifts per child. I never believed in rewarding bad behavior either Rhony. On the contrary, I'm a very strict disciplinarian and my children know that a great report cards means you get all your 3 gifts at christmas time. However, if your grades slip, you loose on things. I very much believe on the reward system. There is no way that I would have a disrespectful child, then turn around and buy him/her all the things that she's expecting. Maybe that's why she misbehaves as much, because she knows that there's no true punishment to the things that she does. I wish she were a child of mine. Even if she slipped and cracked her head open on a good day, she would never dare misbehave and being disrespectful, she would easily catch a foot.

Re: WISH LIST

My 8 yr old (today is his birthday :)) wants 3 ps2 games, 2 computer games and had about 10 other items on his list! what he got was:
clothes
2 ps2 games
1 computer game
trampoline (which was also on his list)
2 pr tennis shoes
and he has about $50 he can spend on himself for his b-day
this is from us, not counting what he gets from aunts, uncles, grandmother, daddy etc...I really try not to buy him alot of stuff, but I am so use to buying for 2 that I feel guilty now. Seriously, this is something I am working on so yall pray for me! I do not want him to grow up to be a spoiled "sorry" man :(

Ginoue you are soooo right! This child RULES her mother's house. There are no consequences for her disrespectful behavior, so she just does what she wants. All I need is one week with her, she'll be a changed person! LOL!!!

Re: WISH LIST

It's ok Soon! Truly it is ...and you take your time working on that...God will see you through and let your son know what time it is so he won't take advantage of the situation you are going through.

The only thing your son can take advantage of is being born 5 days before Christmas :) which has got to be a blast!!

Happy birthday little man! Speak the words of wisdom and independence into your son life, not words of him being sorry ...Love you Soon, I know this is a hard time for you ...keep your head up and continue to Shine!

Re: WISH LIST

I hear you soon and thats what our problem is because we feel like oh its our babys and we need to get them what they want and if we dont or cant we feel all torn up inside, but what some of us fail to realize is that in the long term it can be a bad thing. I told you about my cousin who got everything he wanted every christmas, and now that he is 17 he is like I dont want nothing but a car, as if he think money grows on trees. The nerves on him.

What a special boy! Today is my birthday also! Give that baby everything he wants! LOL! j/k

My son can write as many things as he wants and I get what I want off that list. He is 7 and this is the 1st year he asked for a video game so I got him a Nintendo DS (he did take the opportunity to write every system there is though: WII, DS, XBOS, PS3)! My baby girl 92yo) got mainly clothes for her b-day Dec 1 so I hooked her up with some toys also. I bought about 10 board games and 10 movies for our family time as well. I have no idea what my stepsons want so they got Visa gift cards. My 19yo stepdaughter got a diamond pendant. It'll be a good Christmas! LOL!

When they get to teenage years they'll probably just get money and one gift depending on what they're in to.

Re: WISH LIST

but in his defense (my son) he is a great kid; even being only 8 he is so independent, gets good grades, very mannerable etc., but I will admit I think I am trying to hold him too close...
Thanks T-you are right, we the correct wisdom and guidance I can mold him to be what he SHOULD be, and what he decides to become will be his own decision. I guess I just think of all the sorry men I know who still depend on mama (or daddy) being waaayyyy too old and I just don't want to get him accustomed to that
Sensation-I hear you about your cuz, but I can't comment too much, because my mom bought me a car when I was 16...
