I have been looking online forever and ever for a checklist of things you need to buy or have for the ceremony and reception. Every checklist I find has a whole bunch of stuff on it but not a standard what to buy list. So I figured if everybody put their head together I could come up with one.
I already know you need
Unity candles (if you are doing this)
Guestbook (whatever type you use, photomat, photoguestbook, etc.)
Pens to sign the book
Garter to throw
Keepsake garter
Card box
Flower girl basket
Ring bearer pillow
Cake serving set

Real love requires a minimum of emotion and a maximum of the will - Bishop Keith W. Reed, Sr.
My two cents (lol):
aisle runner
cake topper (if you are having one)
toasting glasses (although I received nice ones as a bridal gift)
Souvenir Marriage Certificate (I bought one, but the church I got married at provided one as a gift to my husband and I)
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Ivy-what about:
wedding favors
bridal party gifts
BUMP!
Anyone find a good checklist/timeline they'd like to share....?
I used one and I found them quite helpful. My Coordinator provided me with one and it worked out well.

an arch (if not getting married in church)
cake stands (if having floating cakes and they are not provided by baker)
throwaway bouquet
broom (if you are doing that)
wedding bubbles (or whatever you may use if anything)
disposable cameras for the tables
that's just some things off my checklist
frame or holder for marriage certificate
Oohh!
Rosie has a WEDDING DAY Checklist and Timetable on this site!
We used one of these and all my Coordinators, Photographer/Videographer, and Bridal Party Had one...This let everyone know what was going to happen, and when....
The Key is....starting ON TIME and being mindful of this schedule!
You can add a second column and put the exact time next to each one...
Activity
1. Getting up/breakfast
2. Dressing
3. Leaving for the ceremony
4. Photos before the ceremony
5. Parents and guests arrive
6. Wedding Ceremony begins
(Bumble's additions: Example: 10:25-Parents walk in to light candles, 10:30-Ceremony begins with Bridal Party Entrance, 10:35 Groom and Pastor Walks in, 10:40-Bride and Father of the Bride Enter, of course after this the Pastor/Officiant is in control with the pace of the rest of the ceremony...the time is usually figured out during rehearsal)
7. Receiving Line (What's This?)
8. Formal group photos (wedding party)
9. Leaving for the reception
10 *bleep*tail Hour (before couple arrives)
11. Arriving at the reception
12. Toast by Best Man (and others)
13. Reception Meal
14. Cake Cutting
15. Bridal Dance
16. Dancing
17. Bride and Groom change clothes
18. Bride and Groom leave reception
19. Reception ends

Ivy ~ are you looking for a checklist of things to buy or a checklist of things to do when? I can send you one, if you clarify for me which one.

Ginuoe can you do a month by month checklist for our newbies and create it in a new post in the appropriate subject/forum? I put up a wedding day checklist that I found helpful too. Maybe there is one you can also post that can enhance the one I posted or maybe fill in some gaps:)

Great idea Bumble. I have a few checklists that I will post so the newbies will feel more than comfortable with their planning process.
