In all honesty, since joining this site, I've learned to tap into my creativity instead of just paying someone to do things for me as was customary. I always knew that I had great organizational skills and happen to stumble on decorating, but these ladies pushes you to the limit of your skills in order find your inner-creativity.
Since joining this sisterhood, I've done a lot on my own, but DIY an invitation? Haven't reached that field of bravery yet, I'm afraid. I have a Carlson Craft book of wedding invitations and they're magnificent, but pricey. For the past few days, I've been researching how to DIY wedding invitations and trust me sister, as soon as I find some great templates, I'll be more than happy to share.
For my wedding I will DIY as much as I can. My list of DIYs are growing and so far my list include:
Save-The-Date cards, Ring Bearer's pillow, Sugar-Cookie Cakes, Layered wedding program booklets, Cone Pew Markers, reception table centerpieces.
There are a few more that I want to do, but I'm still fooling around with them and see if I've mastered them yet. I'm a perfectionist and if it's not absolutely perfect by my standards, I'll get someone else to do them.
Hello Happy pants ~ will you be making the layered program? If so, give me your e-mail address and I will send you the directions. Glad you've finally installed word on your laptop. You're about to have a world of fun with us and our projects!!!
Can someone please help me with layered invitations that are not real expensive. I would like the template and instructions to do them.My e-mail is Scat6696@AOL.COM
Teresa ~ just a follow up. Did you find the instructions you were looking for in order to make your Pocketfold Invitations? If not, I have one and I'll be more than willing to share it with you. Please let me know and I will send you and e-mail.

I LOVE your page-so much good juicy info :) and you are truly rocking that ROCK!! LOL congrats again!
2bmrspotts, I LOVE your wedding page and all the ideas you have going on. I especially love the last Bari Jay BM dress you have posted. I was recently trying to convince a friend to buy that dress in the emerald green color. She's still deciding. I also like the table number on apples idea. Can't wait to see your all your final pics.

One thing that I have noticed about the weddings I've been to is that I never remembered how their invitations looked. So I'm just simply gonna buy one of those packages of wedding invitations from Target once they go on clearance.
However, I plan on going the DIY route for my programs.

I felt the same way about the invitations but I orderd mine from www.budgetweddinginvitations.com-they are simple ecru color invitations and I got 100 for $36-would have been $29. had I not used colored ink! I am DIYing my programs also-matter of fact been working on them for the last 2 days and I am soooo frustrated!!! :(
See, I'm the exact opposite, I remember how invitations looked for most of the weddings I've gone too. I'm a very detailed person so I have a tendency to look at all the small things and how they ultimately relate to the overrall picture. To me, the invitation is the first impression you make/give/send about your big day. Same for the programs.
Soon2bmsj, I like the simple look of your invite. I would probably still tie a sage ribbon around in first though. Were your reception and response cards included in that price? That's a steal. Is the wording raised ink?
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
Thanks pamcrow!
Yes the ink is raise and I am attaching a bow to them! :) I didn't order reception cards because the reception is going to be in the same location of the wedding. My caterer does alot of our church functions so I only gave her the # of my family/friends that I knew would be attending and she did a percentage on the number of church members that she believes will attend. She's pretty good having plenty of food for everyone so I am not too concerned. I am having about 100-125 ppl.
Hi ladies. I must say that I linked to this site while I was at work today and could not stop reading the posts. I had to remind my self that I was a work. I could not wait to get home to join. I am amazed at how some people are so creative. I really love the layered programs and would like to get the template and directions too. My wedding is April 12 and my colors are cornflower blue and silver. I am so excited. Does anyone have any unique suggestions on decorating the reception or anything special to remember deceased family members? I plan on doing cds, bubbles, and almonds (or a different sweet) for favors. My email is thay404@yahoo.com
Welcome Thay404!! I love your colors! those were the colors I had originally chosen! I can't help you much with decorating ideas (I have someone else doing the deco for me :))but me & FH are honoring his mother and my son during our wedding. My sister is reading a poem and we are going to lay a rose in the pew for each of them; we are also acknowledging them in the program: 'In loving memory of Linda Ruth Johnson-McCarthy & Edward Jarod Hubbard' with a rose under their name. Some people light candles or incorporate a poem or a saying in the wedding program; you could also have a moment of silence and ring a bell while their name is being announced. I was going to wear a photo brooch with my son's picture around my waist (with my sash) but I decided against it. It is going to be hard and emotional enough so I axed that idea.

Welcome Girlfriend! There are plenty things you can do ... My DH's dad had a page in my layered program with a poem to him on it, along with that poem with a pic of DH on it (I posted it here, so let me know if you want me to direct you to the pic) placed on a chair, that had a chair cover it with a bow (his chair was the only chair covered) also we had a candle lit for his presence along with candles for deceased loved ones ...who had a page (all together) labeled "With Love" on it. DH's dad's page was label "To Our Honored Best Man" ...Also when DH came out he laid a rose on that chair and that's when he lit the candle for him ...we lit the remaining candles when we lit the unity candles.
Ladies I have completed all of the printing and cutting for my invitations, however, I'm running into an issue with the type of glue/adhesive that I'm suppose to use. The actual invitation is a pocketfold and the the layerd invite is on metallic pearl cardstock. Staples wasn't helpful at all. Anyone have any suggestions?

when, where, colors, ideas..anything you would like to share.. :)
Welcome to Vibride thay404! I love your colors. To honor my mother who is deceased, my aunt (her only sister), will light a memory candle to represent her presence at the ceremony. This will be done right before the processional. I'm thinking of also dedicating a poem to her in the program. I don't want to do anything that will allow the day to feel like a day of mourning rather than a wedding, so I think this is just the right touch for our situation. My mom passed in 04, and my family is still pretty emotional at times, so I want to be careful with what I do.
Well, My colors are Crimson, black and gold. I will be geeting married in May of this year. I am very excited I have 4 more months to go. The style of the wedding is simple but elegant. A lot of things I am doing myself, like the aisle runner, Save the dates, progams, the list goes on and on.
Great futurewife08!
so do you have your dress, veil, are you getting married in a church? where are you honeymooning if anywhere? girl, we like details down to the nitty gritty! LOL
Yeah I got my dress and it is coming in Mid-March. Everything is coming mid-march, bridesmaid dresses, headpieces, flowergirl, dresses, evevything is coming then...

We are getting married at a church in Queens, NY...

Mine aren't extremely fancy but I'll bump the post where I showed the ones I created.
