are any of you ladies NOT having a grooms cake? I would love to have a special cake for my FH but due to the size of the brides cake if we have a grooms cake we will probably have ALOT of cake left over.
Any thoughts ladies?

I'm having a 2 groom's cakes and a desert table ...thinking of the kids and the families ...it probably will be some left over but you know us good colored folk ...someone(s) will be wanting to take some home ...help yourself ..after everyone gets served of course ..:)

well, FH and I just came from our cake testing and he decided he doesn't want a grooms cake; we both decided on almond for the cake flavor and he said there was no reason to have 2 cakes with the same flavor (he didn't like any of the others) so that solves THAT dilemma!!
I wouldn't worry about the leftovers....we ordered enough cake and after everyone helped themselves to another serving, it was all gone....We were so worried about having leftovers too....and we wish we could have had some more...Thinking it would be enough leftover, I only got a little corner of my own wedding cake...I was so disappointed!
We were going to do a grooms cake but decided against it at the last minute....Bad idea!
My advice...order as much cake as you can afford....make arrangements for you or a trusted person to wrap up some for you to go (cause the top layer isn't going to get eaten) and eat later that evening to enjoy.... You spend so much time socializing, if you were like us...you barely will have time to eat.

Good advice Bumble. Between socializing and just being caught up in the day, it's easy to forget to savor the moment. No one in my bridal party remembers eating cake. I remember us cutting it, feeding each other briefly and that's it. I don't remember if cake was good but everyone else raved about it so I'll have to take their word for it.
I wanted to surprise DH with a grooms cake but I only knew one person who could design the cake I wanted at an affordable price but she was in the midst of a difficult pregnancy and was bed ridden at the time. Since DH is originally from Brooklyn and loves to point out the Brooklyn Bridge whenever he spots it in a movie so I wanted a cake designed like the Brooklyn Bridge. He's also into his playstation also thought of a cake designed like a playstation controller or combining the two ideas and have a controller floating in the river under the Brooklyn Bridge. That idea would probably be the most fitting since that's where I want to throw it half the times.

well because FH is a dj I wanted a cake made like an old skool turntable. it was going to be pretty expensive, so he really just saved us some money by deciding he only wanted the almond flavored cake! :)
I am going to suprise my husband with a grooms cake. He is a big Giant's fan so I am going to have the cake resemble the Giant's Stadium, and have the Giant's playing against the Cowboy's or Colts

Well we're not having a groom's cake at the reception but I am considering doing one for the rehearsal dinner.
In addition to our wedding cake, we are having a dessert table.

We're undecided on a groom's cake. FH is more of a pie guy! Maybe we'll have a groom's pie!

I would love to have a groom's cake with a picture of an 18-wheeler on it or in the shape of a groom's cake.
