Mad Dog 20/20 or Cisco! No I'm just kidding. That's a good question. Most people serve champagne at weddings, I'm not sure what kind of wine you should use. What is your budget for alcohol? You may want to have several types of wines. Some examples are Merlots (dark red, a little strong for my tastes), Chardonnay (white wine) and Zifandels (white or cafe). You may want to check out a liquor store or vineyard to get recommendations and prices. They may offer you a discount for buying in bulk. Hope this helps.

Re: What kind of Wine?

I'm no wine connoisseurs either. All I know is I like fruity tasting wines. Although it may be ghetto to serve at a wedding, Arbor Mist wines are very good. Only about $3.00 a bottle. A cousin of mine served a good wine at a small get together recently but I don't know the name. I'll call her for it and get back to you.

Re: What kind of Wine?

absolutely you can serve arbor mist. Matter of fact unless your guests are real stuffy or uppity, they will probably prefer it. I'll be honest I drink all kinds of wine but when I'm just chillin at home or hanging out with my girls Arbor Mist is the choice. Besides if they want the real good expensive stuff they better pay for it.

But on another note you can get basic kinds of wine, the non fruity kinds for really cheap as well sometimes and they are very good. Sutter homes is never expensive and there is an australian brand that I can't think of the name of right now but they are good. They have a kangaroo on the bottle. If I think of it I'll let you know.

Basic wines that people drink are

Chardonnay
White Zinfandel
Pinot Grigio
Riesling
Pinot Noir
Merlot

You can pick 2 white or blush and 1 red and you should be good.

It also depends on what you are serving

Whites go with fish, chicken and seafood.

Reds go with red meat and game.

It was Moscoto white wine. Since you already tasted it I'm sorry I couldn't offer anything new. It was good though and would work well for a wedding.

Alright now wine drinker ..:)

This is the thing ...99% of my family don't drink while 99% of his family does ...we brought bottles of grape juice in wine bottles but we want to a wine for the drinkers too ... slight compromise for everyone.

So Arbor Mist? Different kinds ...:)

Re: What kind of Wine?

Arbor mist would be good. People who generally don't drink wine could drink Arbor Mist.

I would get the peach chardonnay, strawberry zinfandel and the blackberry merlot.

All 3 taste good and are good basics.

Another option would be to make sangria. Which is pretty much wine and fruit. You can make it white or red and make it in large quantities. It might even be cheaper.

1 Bottle of your favorite white wine (This recipe is just as delicious with a good red wine, if you so choose)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
1 Lime cut into wedges
1 Peach cut into wedges
1 Cup sliced strawberries
1/2 Cup lemonade or limeade
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 shots of apricot, peach or "berry" flavored brandy
2 Cups ginger ale
Optional: one can of diced pineapple pieces with juice
PREPARATION:
Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon, orange and lime into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sliced peaches, strawberries limeade/lemonade, sugar and brandy.

Chill overnight. Add ginger ale and ice just before serving.
If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled white wine and serve over lots of ice.

You can skip the brandy if you like and add whatever fruits you like as well like strawberries.

Re: What kind of Wine?

Ivey, I swear you are a girl after my own heart!!! I'm going to try that recipe. I normally add arbor mist to the fruit salads I make for the family picnics and all the nondrinkers be tearing it up. I normally cut up watermelon, honey dew & cantelope, strawberries, blackberries, kiwi and frozen or canned peaches and I sprinkle with sugar and splash on the Arbor Mist. Once all the juices mix, it's the bomb. And don't make the mistake of throwing the juice out and all the fruit is gone from bowl. That's grounds to get you blessed out. Like making a cake, everyone wants to lick the bowl.
