Re: Looking for a reception MD/DC

Hey ladies! I love you already!! It's so nice to be in contact with other women who know EXATLY what I'm going through right now. Most of friends have never been married. I totally feel you MSJ. My FH and I were thinking about a destination wedding also but my family and friends wouldn't hear of it :-)I also figured it would be nice to have as many of them there to celebrate as possible. So here we go.... I'll be praying for you MSJ. I know we all need it :-). Thanks also Ginoue for your willingness to help me stay away from the STRESS zone.... (is that even possible?!)

Re: Looking for a reception MD/DC

Hello Everyone,
I am a new member and in a similar situation as morobin.

I am looking to get married in the DMV area - any where that is in close proximity to DC. We are expecting a guest of 300 - 350 people and it has been quite challenging finding a location that can accomodate a large capacity of people as well as allow for outside catering (Nigerian). I would really prefer an outdoor venue, but that is proving to be really expensive because of additional rentals. Any ideas?

I'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Re: Looking for a reception MD/DC

Welcome to the sisterhood both Candice777 and moneychaser. Let me make some phone calls and see what I come up with for both of you. Please note that this will take me some time to do as you're both using outside catering, but I will come up with some ideas for you both soon.

Moneychaser, I do have some banquet halls in mind for you in DC, but I must contact them first and see if they have availability for your date. I have a hall in mind already, but the problem is parking as they do not care whether or not your caterer is insured. I haven't used them in a few years, but I will contact them first and see if they've added parking yet, because they were planning to. I will definitely be in touch.

Candice777 and moneychaser, what is your tentative budget? It will help me narrow down your choices.

Again, welcome to the sisterhood. I'll be in touch. I will post my results for both of you in about a week.

Happy planning!!!

Re: Looking for a reception MD/DC

thank you for your help,...we haven't discussed budget as I'm just doing independent research for her. I do know that her original plans for the caterer was a little over 6 grand. I believe that included hall rental as well. I'm not sure if that helps because the food costs will be cut due to the fact that the Chef in the family knows the best route to take.

again, thanks for your help!
