How many of you ladies

As I mentioned recently in the Word Association Post, I had a girlfriend of mine give me lessons in Football 101 and a few other sports. Prior to getting married, I didn't have a clue. How many of you ladies are sports savvy? How many are not? What are your thoughts on this subject? Do you think it's important to share this hobby with our significant others?

Re: How many of you ladies

I love sports! My stepfather and I used to watch them as I was growing up and he would explain them to me. I pretty much know the rules to most of them but absolutely love football, basketball, tennis, and track & field. Baseball is a little too slow motion for me! FH and I used to watch football together every Sunday. Not so much anymore. He says "Its a guy thing." When I remeinded him of the beginning of our relationship he smiled and said "I forgot you are actually one of the women who knows what's going on!" Now he watches more sports at home! I say if its not your thing, don't force it. It may be a nice compromise sometimes but if he's a die-hard maniac during college basketball's March Madness - LET HIM BE!

Re: How many of you ladies

I don't know a thing about sports and have no interest in learning. DH is really into football and whenever he is into the game, I find other things to do that I enjoy. His sons both play football and I swear he lives vicariously through them. I'll catch at least 3 of kids games each year but I'm really their to just cheer them on because unless someone looks like they are about to make a touch down, I don't know what is going on. I tried to get into basketball a couple of times but unless I there in person, I can't get really into it. The only "sport" we enjoy watching together is boxing. We love having fight parties.

I like football & basketball...can't really get into baseball, track or tennis...my son slept, ate and lived basketball (from the time he was 6 yrs old) so I am a "connoisseur" in the sport! LOL

Re: How many of you ladies

I am definitely into sports...well football and basketball mostly. We watch track when the world semi's and finals come around. I try to keep up with ESPN-so it wasn't hard for me to mesh with DH following sports. I am not a fanatic so I often am doing something else while DH watches games....We have DVR so if I wanted to see something that bad I can rewind the live game.

If I wasn't into sports it would be hard because I like my attention or if I need DH to do something I wouldn't understand why he can't do it while the game is on. I know thats what attracted him to me-because I am understanding. Also my dad played ball in college and my brother played football/baseball since he was like 8. I used to be a cheerleader for little league football (it was a big deal in Ft. Lauderdale) and I was a dancer in my HS Band. Oh yeah, and as an FSU alum I am addicted to FSU football.

I am into basketball and football. My FH is a fanatic when it comes to both, but I am not nearly as into sports as he is. I do watch them, but more so when it is time for the playoffs to begin. My favorite is football, both college and pro. My FH warned me before we even started seriously dating, that when it came time for basketball season, he would barely be around to answer the phone...lol! But I did tell him that I liked sports, and I think he liked that about me. So I do understand his love for sports, and I don't mind it all. I express the same excitement when it comes to reality tv and soap operas!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE football. FH says I should have my own radio show talking about sports.

I can watch a little baseball but the game is too slow for me.

I like basketball, but I prefer to watch it live.

FOOTBALL, Basketball, and Cheerleading (yep cheerleading). I also love track, some hockey (being from the north) and gymnastics.

These were my passions before I birthed 2 boys (26 & 16) and 1 girl (18).

I love NFL football! I'm not really into college football but one of my future step-sons plays for Auburn University. I hope FH and I will be able to see one of his games this year.

Re: How many of you ladies

I've been a football nut my entire life (hence getting closer by being a cheerleader). I loved being on the sidelines and often got called out because I was paying "too much" attention to the game and not cheering. Later on I opted to be a flag girl so I could perform during half-time and watch the game like a normal person the rest of the while.
My hubby is into football and loves when I call/text him with breaking news (about trades, injuries, press conference results, etc.) throughout the day. We watch most of the games together. I understand that he's less attentive when the game's on. That was the one only requirement, when we first started dating: Don't ask me to do anything (take out the garbage, kill a bug, go shopping, etc.) when the game is on.

We both love the Dolphins, but bump heads with collegiate teams: I'm a FSU fan and he's a UM fan, so there's a mini-battle in the house when they play each other. It's funny.... that lead up to another rule: No collegiate sports memorabilia can go up in the house. Our collegiate interests are limited to apparel only.

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

A man after my own heart. I am from Alabama and I am an AUBURN fan all the way. I love college football, I feel they have more heart. I also like basketball not like football( both NFL and college). Love track and field ran track back in my day. I am pretty much what ever man I am dating and sports I tend to follow type girl. I have to have my quality time and if it means me, him and the tv I will take it anyway I can get it. Also they tend be more opt to do girlie things I want when I share in the things he likes.

I started losing interest in NBA basketball after Michael Jordan retired. The game seems more about money and scandal now. Old school players like Magic Johnson, Dr. J, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Jordan played for the love of the game.

Football????? Oh my goodness! That is my sport! I love it. I got Direct TV just so that we can watch whatever football we want to on Sunday's. I'm a 49ers fan and my DH & son are Raiders fans. We throw Super Bowl parties every year (doesn't matter who's in it). My son has been playing since he was 5.

Now, I am the head coach for Cheerleading (for football). DH is a coach for the football team. We love football! lol
