Re: CENTERPEICES

I don't know how long you have until your wedding, but I would start by looking at some magazines and websites and keep pictures of the ones you like the best. Some of them may have instructions on how to put it together, but others may not. However, looking at them and putting the pictures in your wedding book can get you started. You can either see if you want to pay for ordering it, or see how much it would cost to make it yourself....If you decide to make it yourself, head to your local craft store and buy the flowers, glue, beads, vase or whatever you need to create just two or three, so you can make different variations of centerpieces, and so you can decide on what you like best, or which is easiest for you to have your crew (i.e, bridal party, family members, and/or friends) to make for you in larger quantities....If you use silk flowers to make it, you can get them done WAY ahead of time and knock it out...If you use real flowers, you will need about a 24 hour turnaround to put the flowers together and store them in a refrigerator to keep them fresh...You don't want any fresh flowers delivered more then 36 hours before showtime.
Also, if you order your centerpieces, and they are fresh flowers, you need to consider the cost to overnight them (for freshness), and a place for you to keep them all fresh before the wedding.....

Making them can save lots of $$ on extra shipping, and you can better control the price/centerpiece by buying vases or other crafty accessories, (beads, rocks, glue, specialty paper or materials) by buying the least expensive...You can control the quality and appearance of the centerpiece by taking your time with a simple, elegant design that will look great in pictures, and that is easy to put together...The more complicated it is, the harder it is to explain, and least likely it is to get them put together in a timely, efficient manner.

As far as the theme, consider the colors, and look and the feel of the reception...For romance, consider a simple array/cluster of candles in your favorite colors of different heights...Include water to add an elemental feel. Rose petals in water in a bowl or tall vase and floating candles work. Add mirrors for "a sexy appeal"

For garden, spring-type feel, try a simple bunch of flowers (wild or exotic), in a simple silver flower pail or vase.

This is all I can think of off the top of my head...If I see more things I'll post here.

Head to the dollar store get a mirror, some tea light candles, a glass bowl, some pearl strands and pick up some flowers. Float some flowers in the bowl (the tea lights too if you can find the floating ones) and place it on the mirror and surround it with rose petals and the pearl strands. I've seen that done and it was very pretty and inexpensive.

Great ideas, Bumblebee and Ivy! You can try adding a little food coloring to the water to add a little contrast to Ivy's idea. If you want to do floral centerpieces, check with stores like Michaels (you can check their website for more ideas), A.C. Moore, Hobby Lobby, and Joann's. Hope this helps.

Re: CENTERPEICES

I did something similar to Ivy's suggestion for centerpieces. My "fishbowls" had me and my hubby's name and wedding date engraved on it. We gave them away as gifts also. Our guests loved them. I purchased them from ebay.com
