OF COURSE!!!!!!!!!! when it is food involved, people always make exceptions
LOL!!!!! Okay so they'll eat but will they want to dance and what not? I want everyone to have the same good old time they would at any other wedding....Just earlier.
We did and EARLY Lunch reception/buffet (no breakfast items)...Our ceremony started at 10:30, reception at 11:30, and lasted until like 3 PM...DH decided to use that time to take all the tuxedoes back, I went home with my sister--we got seperated a little-jumped on my bed with excitement, and then me and DH spent the rest of the afternoon and evening together...so that ALL went well!
Oh yeah, the entrees were sliced roast beef or lemon-glazed chicken, veggies, salad, rice, etc...so it was light as far as the meat choices, but filling because it was a buffet, full meal....
LOL that's what I'm talking about! It would be nice for our honeymoon to start as early as possible too. I was even thinking to have food set aside to bring home because I know I'm not going to want to cook or go anywhere once we get to the suite or apt. We're still trying to decide the game plan on where the first night will be at.
My ceremony was a morning ceremony also 11:00 and the reception started at 12:00pm. We had up until six to be out as well. We had a lot of out of town guests that stayed at the same hotel we stayed at and we had a mini family reunion at the hotel when all was said and done. It worked out well.

Definitely have someone responsible for making you and your new hubby an extra couple of plates, inclding drinks and wedding cake to eat later. We MEANT to have this done, but it never got done for some reason or other, and beleive it or not, when we got to the hotel at bout 6:00 PM, we were like, dag-we're hungry! So we had to go and get some Wendy's because we were starving, and that was closest!
So everyone: Have an extra plate made for you and new hubby on wedding day after the reception!
Unfortunately, if you're having a brunch reception, the ceremony will have to be mighty early (9 or 9:30 AM). You mentioned waking up at 6? Well that's only if you had your hair done the night before, otherwise, you might have to wake up at 4AM. It takes a good 3 hours to get your hair and makeup done on your wedding day. And of course, you want to get there on time.
For someone like me (who doesn't wanna spend any money on alcoholic beverages) I much prefer the brunch/lunch reception as I've been told that it wont look out of place when I don't cater for any alcohol.
Ladies what time would should the ceremony and reception start if I have a brunch reception?

The only thing that I dont like about brunch/lunch receptions ae typically it ends around 5/6 o'clock.

That is a great way to avoid the "should we serve alcohol?" question....

So true, that's one of the reasons why we opted for an early ceremony/reception.
