i was going over my wedding plans today and realize that the ceremony is very one-sided. we are getting married in my hometown, my aunt is performing the ceremony, my cousins are singing at the ceremony. i'm trying to think of something that someone on his side of the family can do. what do you ladies suggest?

Heck, it would be great if they could pay for it...LOL. Just kidding. Maybe someone on his side can do a reading or prayer. Are any of them in the wedding party?

they can be attendants, guest book, programs, greeters; my wedding is the same, mostly my family but mainly because FH does not have much family...
I suggest a reading, ushers, guest book attendants, etc as well. What about any children for the ring bearer or flower girl if you are having them?
i want a flower girl but can't really think of anyone on his side. i don't want them to come all the way up here and feel like outsiders. i don't want people to "pick sides" either. we will all be family, so i have instructed the ushers to seat people alternating between sides. but i just want his sisters or cousin to do something. the reading of a poem is a great idea, i may go with that one!!

That's easy they can attend the wedding. LOL no just joking. How about letting them be attendants.

I don't know what I'm gonna do as far as that. Because my wedding is really one sided too with my family and friends. This is my FH's 3rd wedding so I don't know how involved his family will even want to be, but I'm trying to come up with ideas just in case.

maybe that poem reading or a scripture reading will work for you, too. it should not matter what number wedding this is, i think the ceremony is as much about bringing two families together as it is about the bride and groom, so i'm sure somebody will be willing to do something at your ceremony.
