Ladies, I've found the perfect dress on the Internet. I am getting married in Jamaica The problem is that if I buy it there is no refund or exchange. I have tried several bridal shops to see if they could order the dress for me. No luck. So should I take the chance and order the dress? I haven't found anything I like as much.

I never recommend buying a formal dress off the internet without seeing a store sample first. Have you tried the designers website to locate any authorized dealers. You might have to drive to a nearby city or state to get to the dealer but with such a major purchase, it's worth it. I would hate for you to get dress and it's not quite what you expected.
On the other hand, if the price is unbeatable and you have the money to spare, then go for it. I guess you could always sell it on ebay if you're not totally satisfied with it.

I have to agree with pam. For you wedding in JA you should have a light material and not too much underpinnings. It gets hot even inside!! Can you post a pic of your dress? this is the one I choose, well the second one at least.

Introducng the new Mrs. Durrant!!!
I wouldn't recommend purchasing one online that has a "no refund/exchange" policy. But, I agree with Pamcrow, if you're wiling to take a chance, go for it. I ordered my dress online but that company had an exchange policy.Good luck!

msklee, i almost bought a dress online but i would have had my feelings hurt. it was a david's bridal that was new with tags on ebay. well i went in the store to try the same dress on, come to find out david's bridal's dresses run 2 to 3 sizes small!! the sales lady told me they have been trying to correct this problem for a long time with no luck. i agree with the ladies, i don't think buying online is your best option.

I ordered my gown online but I did try it on in a salon 1st. It actually came earlier than expected but was too small! Lucky for me it was cut incorrectly and they are making me another one. If you go the online route (or any route for that matter) order as early as possible to give time for the "what ifs"!

Thats actually common in bridal fashions. You almost always need to go 2 sizes up from your regular size for the correct fit

I also looked at the option of ordering my gown online. Some of the sites I saw did not offer an exchange or refund. So you have to be extremely careful and read all the fine print.

How about I wear a 2 and ordered an 8! The dress (should) fit perfectly but now I think it may be a little tight. It has some seam allowance though so my seamtress said I will be fine - as long as they cut it to the specs!
I took my own measurements and compare them against the sizing chart from the web site. I ordered a size 14 and had very little alteration.

Thanks ladies. Good advice. I do have a 2nd plan to have the dress made. I already have the pattern. So now I just have to get the material. But I still have not decided on a color for the bridal party. I would like to have something the is tropical. I have seen so many colors that my head is swimming. But I know for sure that we are wearing white. So the bridal party will have all of the color. I need help....

Great plan Msklee. When ordering online, it's buyers beware and your wedding day is way too important to order your dress site unseen, without even the benefit of measuring. It will look perfect now that you've found the pattern.
