Does anyone else have any diy projects going on? the one that worries me the most is the music. we plan to load all of our music on the ipod and create playlists of the songs we want at whatever particular time during the ceremony/reception. i hear that this is what most of the djs are doing these days anyway. am i biting off too much?

I am using a combination of a soloist and cd's for my ceremony and the reception will be all cd's so I think what you are doing is workable
I am doing several DIY projects - save the dates, invitations, monogrammed aisle runner, table runners, programs, broom, and probably more that I can't think of right now.
As far as the ipod/CD wedding, make sure you have someone reliable to monitor the ipod/radio in case anything goes wrong. Technology is wonderful but can be a beast at the most inappropriate times! I'm having a DJ with RECORDS, spinning old school, scratching, mixing and all that good stuff!
you have a dj scratchin and mixin old school? your wedding sounds like it's gonna be fun, can i come?

Sure can - after dinner! LOL! I want all the mushy, formal stuff at the ceremony but I want to party at the reception! Even our 1st dance and the father/daughter dance are to upbeat songs - "Star" by Kindred the Family Soul and "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind, and Fire!
lol- you know i aint mad at ya about that after dinner part. but it does sound like a fun and well balanced wedding. i want to get upbeat after dinner but i have a lot of christian folks coming who aren't gonna want to hear anything too racy. but it's my and the fh's day so i'm gonna play what i want. but i definately feel you on the old school, there's not much out now days worth adding to the playlist

When one of my bridesmaids got married the wedding coordinator called everyone to the dance floor and told them to form a circle. The dj started mixing some music from the 80's and out came the groom and his groomsmen wearing those old sweat suits witht he two lines down the side and those fuzzy hats. Child they started break dance and pop locking. They even battled each other. I was the best part of the reception to me.

Sounds great! That's much better than the average wedding where everyone has the usual soul train line.
