Groomzilla!!

hi everyone!!

i'm new to this site. i'm getting married in about two months, and our main problem is this: we are on a tight budget due to me finnishing nursing school and my FH is the sole source of income at this time. therefore, our wedding planner suggested that we do an all in one (wedding and reception in one room). the room is absolutely big enough and at a beautiful location. at first i had reservations, but at this late a date and low budget, i am opened to the idea. the FH however is being somewhat of a groomzilla about it. it's his day too and i want him to be happy, but we also need to be realistic. has anyone had any experience with an one room and/or a groomzilla? if so, what can i say to put his mind at ease and convince him that we are going to have a beautiful wedding day regardless? please help!!

I used to live in Augusta GA. You can tell him that you have to do what you can afford for now. But, you can renew your vows in a year or so. Maybe by the time you renew your vows, your financial situation may be better. Then you can have that big, extravagant ceremony that you really want. In the meantime, you won't go broke by trying to plan something that's way over-budget.

Re: Groomzilla!!

I have not seen it done personally, but I have seen the set-up with the tables and an aisle going down the middle. All the ones I have seen were absolutely beautiful. I heard of people doing it that way I and I thought it was stupid, but when I saw pictures of many different weddings done this way, I couldn't do anythng but shut-up because it looked good! So good, I may do it myself!

I would try and find some pics of these set-ups...I mean ALL the ones I saw were just gorgeous! Tell him not to worry, and stop being a groomzilla. Tell him its just one day, and it will go faster than you know it!

Re: Groomzilla!!

sweetnlow74, one tip I just received from my MatronOH. She went to a wedding like this last weekend. When the venue says wedding at 5 and dinner at 6 - they mean it! The wedding started late about an hour because they were waiting on a BM and the guests were eating their salad as the bride came down the aisle! Everything from there was rushed!

oh my goodness!! i would just burst into tears if my guests were eating as i came down the aisle!! well my planner said she plans to have one half of the room set up as a chapel and the other half as the "ballroom" but you know how people are, they will be back there chowing down on chicken instead of being at the ceremony!!
