Recorded wedding music

I wanted to know if anyone will be using recorded music instead of hiring a musician for the ceremony. I have about two cds of Christian Love songs that I simply love and want played while guests are being seated. I also have the songs for my ceremony. Is it considered unacceptable or tacky to have recorded music instead of live?

Welcome to the site,Tewright! I don't see anything wrong with recorded music. My suggestion is that if you plan to use CD's, make sure you inspect and do a "test run" on them to make sure they won't skip the day of your wedding.

Re: Recorded wedding music

I don't see anything wrong in recorded music as well tewright. I'm using 2 romantic CDs while the guests are arriving and up until we get ready to start. I'm also using recorded music for my ceremony. What I'm doing is selecting which song that I want my bridal party to walk down the aisle on. We're having a dry run with the DJ a few months before the wedding in order to get the timing of each song right. Then my DJ will give me a CD compilation of the songs that I've given him and we plan on using it for the rehearsals ( we'll be rehearsing 5 days prior to the wedding so that everyone will be comfortable with their dance steps). My DJ has agreed to make whatever arrangements that I need in order to get everything just perfect for the ceremony.

So go ahead and have a ball. I'm sure with careful planning, everything will work out for you splendidly.

That is not tacky at all! Some of my songs will be by a soloist accompanied by an instrumental on CD, some accompanied by the organist, some all CD. Hence the ViBride unofficial motto - "Your day, your way!"

As of right this is what I will be doing also. I am considering a musician, but I'll probably just stick with the cd. I really want the instrumental to Stevie Wonder's version of "Ribbon in the Sky" for my girls to walk down the aisle to, but this is impossible to find. I asked my dj, and he said the version was never recorded as an instrumental, but that he could work with me to find another version that I might like. I know this is a long shot since it supposedly doesn't exist, but does anyone have or know where to get a copy of Stevie's instrumental version of R in the S?

Tiffy, you're in school in Gainesville, Fl. We have a lot of talentend young men in Florida. Why not go to the Music department and speak with the Department head and see whom he considers to be a music "Ing

Wow, that is a really good idea Ginoue, one I would have never thought of. I will definitely look into doing this. Thank you so much. In the short time I have been a member on this site, all of you have been so very helpful! I'm so glad I decided to actually become a member, even though the site is sooooo addictive, and it might interfere with my school work at times...LOL!! No, I won't allow that to happen, but it's very easy to stay on here all day long...

You're more than welcome Tiffy. I know what you mean about the site being very addictive. I've been on here whenever I have a break from work and at night, when I'm at home, but I make sure to keep my priorities straight.

I was wondering the same thing about recorded music. So I guess recorded music is a go. Now that I think about it, I have been to wedding with recorded music.

I don't see anything wrong with it either. My DJ is also playing music at my ceremony and co-cktail hour.

Ben Tankard did an instrumental version on the "with this ring" cd I looked it up on a downloading site.
