Hello ladies, I attended a fairytale/hollywood themed wedding and it was beautiful. The bride arrived in a horse and carriage, with trumpet players. It was nice. After cocktail hour, we went into the reception hall and was seated then the bridal party was announced. Instead of the bride and groom coming out a movie started to play. It was the bride and groom getting interviewed. It started out with them sitting on the couch and someone asking them how there wedding day was, both saying it was lovely. Then it ask if they was late getting to the reception hall, and the groom said yes, and the bride said, but mom it wasnt my fault, let me tell you what happened. You see them driving down the street going towards the reception site when a car cuts them off. They get out of the car and get into a arguement with the people and they start fighting. Home girl was doing moves like she was in the matrix. It was so funny. After defeating the bad guys you see them getting back in the limo, fixing there close. They pull up to the reception hall and start running up the stairs, the just when they reached the door, the doors opened to the reception hall and they walked in. It was nice and unique.
Now, my question to you ladies is do you have any plans on doing something unique at either your wedding or reception site?

Wow, that sounded truly wonderful. They must've spent a lot of time rehearsing to pull that off.
I don't know about you ladies, but nothing unusual will happen either at my wedding nor the reception. I for one can't wait to see what all of your replies will be to housewife's question.
Wow! I don't even know if what we plan to do comes nearly as close to that! We just plan to dance in and it's supposed to be funny, because my FH can't dance and people will be amazed to see him dancing!

Not sure. I would love to do a 70s theme reception.
Pretty funny mrsmoose
Wow, that sounds pretty entertaining! By the way, for those of you who haven't visited the new members site, I just joined the forum today!! I have really been trying to come up with some unique ideas to present at our wedding/reception, but as of right now I haven't been able to come up with a single thing. I still have a little over 6 months to go, so I am not going to give up just yet!! If I come with something, I'll definitely share it with all of you.

Tiffy, what were you thinking of doing? All of us has got some DIY projects happening. If you can think of it, we will surely help you make it a reality.

Very true!
Each One Teach One!
Well, being that I am an architecture student, I have experience in Photoshop, so I actually have done DIY save-the-date cards (no magnets), and will be doing my own programs. The programs are actually the same template that bamabride used, only the example that I looked at didn't have the card stock on the back and the vellum overlay on the top, which I really really love (and might have to borrow bamabride!!) My colors by the way are Victorian lilac and Celadon. I'm also making my own centerpieces using vases I found at IKEA, silk rose petals, and tea candles. I really look for ways to go against the traditional, cookie-cutter wedding ceremony, so I am investigating new ideas everyday. As of now, the only idea I really have, which I was reading about in another post on this forum, is the rose ceremony, which I think is a really nice idea, quite different from the traditional unity candle ceremony. If I don't have too many issues doing so, I will post my save-the-date card, and centerpiece idea. I don't have much done with my program just yet, only the layout of the first page.

Well, it does sound like you're on your way. Great start with you DIY projects.
Yes, I actually love to design, so I am having lots of fun looking for DIY projects, just have to find the time with school. I just posted my DIY projects under a new topic labeled My DIY Projects in the Invitations, Announcements, Programs, etc post. Let me know what you think.

I'm not sure if this is unique or not, but I think it's unique/different since I've only seen maybe one or two of them at a wedding. But, I'm definately having:
1) The gobo with our names and dates
2) A wedding scroll instead of place cards. Here's a sample pic:

3) I want a candy table
4) A wedding thank you scroll from my parents to the guests
5) Imagine a screen half the size of a movie theather screen or maybe close to the size - In one room with be a projected pic of our engagement shot and in the other room (the larger screen) will project our photo montage.
I think there's a few more things, but I can't think of them right now.
That's lovely Askalot. I have never seen anything like that before. Oh and thanks for getting the subject back on track.

Those are unique, interesting ideas SeptBride. Have any of you considered the guestbook photo frame instead of using the traditional guestbook? It still allows a place for your guests' signatures, but it also allows for a nice keepsake for you and your then husband to hang in your house. I'm considering using this idea.

Oh Askalot...I am so loving that! Very nice! I love things that are different and I have yet to see that have been done!
Each One Teach One!
I am using the matted picture guestbook, however that is getting to be very popular now.

I like that as well Askalot! Not sure about having the card box there as on the picture though!
Thanks ladies very much. And house, you know I got your back girl! :-)
Future, the pic was just to show the actual scroll. I'm not having a card box at all. I'm walking around to collect my paper! lol I'm not trying to hear any excuses about "I put your card in the box" and then come to find out they didn't give anything. Uh uh, I wanna know up front who did/didn't give. lol

Good idea. I can use the excuse "That way I can be sure I greet all my guests!"
Askalot you are too much

Hello ladies,
I'm new here and this site seems like a lot of fun.
It's kinda funny that this blog is titled " Unusual Ideas", because I just happened to be talking to my daughter yesterday about some wacky things to do at my wedding. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 86 year old grand mother. But you know how every part of the bridal party comes down to their own special music? Well I thought of doing something no one would be expecting ( including my grandmother )...
She would be at the rear doors of the church waiting to make her garnd entrance and the doors would swing open for her and the next thing everyone would hear would be "She's a Superfreak" by Rick James come on!! LOL ( and then the DJ would quickly cut it off as though he played the song by mistake )... And for the "tossing of the bouquet", my FH is a huge football fan and I thought of having my brides maids enter back into the reception hall fully dressed in football gear all ready to catch the bouquet!!
I thought of doing some things really off the beaten path to bring some humor into my wedding. I love to make peole laugh.
At my neighbors wedding, she did this cute little dance then she turned to the door the dj mixed in the sanford and son theme music as her father entered it was so funny and cute at the same time.
