Reception Menu

Good evening ladies..my ceremony is right around the corner and I am in the process of finalizing my menu with the caterer....I feel like something is missing. My FH says that I have too many meat dishes and I need something to counter it..any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here goes

1.Assorted Fruit and Cheese display
2.Saucy meatballs
3.Teriyaki satay grilled chicken skewers w/pineapple
4.Mini curry chicken salad croissants
5.Artichoke and spinach dip, crab dip and assorted crackers and hawaiian bread.
6.Carving station( which I'm thinking of omitting) Turkey and ham
Meat will be served with various breads and sauces, i.e. dijon mustard, horseradish etc..
7.Assorted raw vegetable and display
8.Chocolate fountain- fresh fruit and poundcake squares.

Let me know ladies..I know I can trust you all to give me your honest opinion.

Re: Reception Menu

You are not having any pasta stations? There's no potatoes, no rice dishes. Maybe a sushi bar.

Re: Reception Menu

I love the assortments that you have presently, but I also agree with housewife. Your selections are a great place to start, but you're not giving them enough. There's no pasta, potatoes, rice. You have raw vegetables - great appetizers if you're watching your weight, but but you're not offering any steamed vegetables. At the same token, people go to a wedding to indulge because it doesn't happen everyday.

Another question, is this to be a cocktail reception or a buffet? Because for a cocktail reception, your menu is perfect. For a buffet or sit-down dinner however, you need more variety. Think about it and take your FH's ideas into considerations. After all, it's his day as well.

Lots of love

Hi ladies..thanks for the suggestions..Its a cocktail reception..I think I will add potato bites to it as well..what else???..I don't want rice or a pasta station because that will make it too much like dinner..finger food suggestions would be nice.

Welcome to the site, Diamond Princess! Since it's a *bleep*tail, how about adding some finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, and chicken wings?

Born Blessed!

Re: Reception Menu

yes, congratulations, however, for you cocktail reception, your suggestions are perfect and take into advisory the suggestions made by platinum as well.

Wow, you only have a few more weeks to go, 30 days to be exact. Remain calm, take deep breaths and try not to let the last minute details overwhelm you all. Also, it would be good to finish all planning 1 week prior to your wedding, so that you could take it slow that last week and pamper yourselves.
