Besides the wedding party, the videographer came, but she is a family friend who was being paid for her services, but I figure, whoever you want, you should invite.

I will probably do what House is doing. That way, we can keep it simple.

I'll have the videographer and phtographer there as well. That way they can get an idea of how everything is going to go and can plan their spots accordingly.

Re: rehearsal dinner

I always thought you only invited the people who was in your bridal party and the parents. Are you paying for them to eat as well? And if so since they will be eating at your rehearsal dinner and your reception, are they giving you extra something or cutting the cost on your wedding package?

Re: rehearsal dinner

well bcause they are church members, they are doing everything MUCH cheaper than anyone else I would have hired and I know they all will do a great job so it worked out pretty good 4 us...of course I was going to invite my Pastor/wife, but I just wasn't sure what the proper "etiquette" is for the others...

Re: rehearsal dinner

My mom is catering my rehearsal dinner. It will be in the fellowship hall of the church. Feeding a few extra won't hurt. Plus it may benefit me on the back end! If the dinner were at a different location I probably wouldn't have the vendors there.

Re: rehearsal dinner

Well, it is not the norm to have the vendors at your rehearsal dinner. It's okay if they wish to visit the church to see about lighting and such so everything go without a hitched on your precious day. Houswife was absolutely right, usually, it's your bridal party, both sets of parents and grand-parents, if living. You may go so far as to extend an invitation to your pastor and his wife, but that's all.

Re: rehearsal dinner

we are actually having the rehearsal dinner at a restaurant so FH and I will be picking up the tab-I just was not sure what the "norm" usually is; Pastor/WIfe are definetly on the list but with all other services being rendered by church members, I didn't want to exclude anyone that should be included...

Re: rehearsal dinner

My In-laws paid for the rehearsal dinner. (Soul Food!) I only invited our parents, the bridal party, parents of the kids in the bridal party, our praise dancer and our coordinator (who is like family anyway). The bridal party was large so we wound up with about 45 people, but we had a nice time with good food to go around.

Soon2b, don't forget that you and FH are picking up the tab for the rehearsal dinner and it's taking place in a restaurant. You don't want to pay just as much for the rehearsal dinner as you would for 1/2 of your reception. I know you would love to have them there, but couldn't you and FH just give them some type of gift certificate (to starbucks, etc...) in order to show appreciation instead of footing that $20.00+ pr plate for them to be there? I don't know, but I don't think that they truly expected to be invited because they must know that a rehearsal dinner is for the bridal party and relatives directly involved.

Re: rehearsal dinner

The only people that are attending my rehearsal dinner are the bridal party, coordinator, my and FH parents, the pastor (his wife is also welcome)& my son's grandmother. That's about it. No vendors - they will eat the night of the wedding. lol
