MsBoston's BlogSpot

Ok I guess it's time to spill the beans. I've been soooo busy this past month. So, I'm sorry if i've missed stuff.(and to all the newbies I missed...this is my official "hello & Welcome" I see there are quite a few)

I passed my state boards, so I am officially a R.N. !!!!!!!!!!! I accepted a staff nurse position at the Pedi hospital where I worked in another capacity.I was supposed to start in November. They haaaarrraaased me into starting on 7/9....promising to give me time off for the wedding and honeymoon, plus a small incentive, So I started ON the day I officially found out I passed my boards.

I sent out all invitations!!! BY MYSELF!!!
which was cool because it totally determined the type of BM gifts I would be getting. I was torn between really beautiful jewelery($$$), vs. somthing more cost effective. So after assembling, addressing, stamping, and mailing all invitaions my choice was made.

No word on my bachlorette party, and if MOH(S) doesn't tell me something soon I'm planning my own. I said it. I see that if you wait on folks to do something (i.e.help w/invites) it won't get done.

The hotel suite for after the reception is paid for. Again, thanks me.

My mother bought my cake.(three tier butter cream. Top: carrot, middle:choc w/strawberry mousse filling. Bottom: Golden w/raspberry filling. My sister (MOH#1) flaked out and missed the cake tasting. Hmmmm....funny that she had offered to pay for the cake then went MIA.

Honeymoon is booked, flight is paid for

I was inspired by you ladies and tried my hand at DIY place cards. BEAUTIFUL...(again thank you Michaels)

FH has tickets to Brazil for his Bachelor party in hand (I cried, he laughed...oh well)

Oh, I've been getting 4-5 RSVP's in the mailbox everyday. Love going to the mailbox now. I've been using the clothespin to index card technique and it has been working out quite nicely if I do say so myself(thanks Pam)

FSIL-"I'm not going to be in it" next week: "I bought these nice earings to go with the dress" Next day: "I heard you were talking about me, see that's why I'm not going to the wedding" ETC, ETC, ETC. I've learned to ignore her really, really well!
OK that's it for now. & now I feel better.

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

Thanks guys! I'm so proud I haven't stopped smiling :)
But really I decided to opt out of getting the BM's anything too big or expensive. I've been doing absolutely everything by myself. All i've been getting was half-hearted offers to help with this or that, then when I take them up on the offer...MIA

went to the caterers this AM to taste...OMG, to DIE for. I think our guests will be pleased. Glad that's over with, I was nervous.

My dress is the same as HW147's original dress

and my BM dresses are the same also

Let me see if I can find my cake.

Well this is similar, except my scrollwork is chocolate brown and the base of each tier is chololate brown ribbon, and in the center of the top tier is our Monogram 'M'

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

Buttercream. I had never tasted fondant before, so I was curious to see if it was as bad as I have heard. IT WAS!! And this from a girl who eats practically anything!
I really need to try and post my place cards, I am so proud of my accomplishment. My invites HAD to go out!

Why have I gotten three 'Return To Sender' invites back in the mail. I guess it wouldn't have hurt to have had a second set of eyes double check the addresses. Oh well, that's three more .58 cent stamps down the drain.

One of my BM's from out of state wanted to plan a ladies night out for me, but not until the night before the wedding(hmmmm...might be a bad idea when I thought more about it)

So, update. I am planning my own bachlorette/ladies night. I'll be doing a friday night pole dancing class w/the girls ($35pp) followed by a sat morning trip to NYC ($30round trip on the bus from china town)
and there we can shop aroung Canal st. and later that night hit up a club or two. And thanks to a FH hook up we'll stay at DoubleTree RIGHT in times square!!
Couldn't wait around for my scallywags to do something. I'm impatient like that.

Thanks!!
I deliverd the BM dresses to two of the girls. My sister can't fit into hers anymore. I TOLD her to go a size bigger, because she recently lost some weight, and she ALWAYS gains it back PLUS some! BUT no, she had to go head a get the size 14 when she's a 16+ normally. As expected she tried zipping the dress up and the back two peoces are a good 5 inches away from each other!!!
I'm pissed. She promised to get it together, but it's really not looking too good. Keep your fingers crossed that she can do it, and pray that she has the will power to stay on track. I would hate for my sister to not be in the wedding.

My programs came in today. I need to make some small changes but I love them.

Do you think it would look crazy if she took the dress to a taylor and have them take the zipper off and bustle the back.

They can add V insets under each arm to let it out, or do a corset back. Not sure how the corset would look with their dresses though.

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

She's gonna have to do something or else she can forget it. I don't think altering the dress would be to horrible, she is the MOH so she can get away with it being slightly different. For some reason I'm begining to wonder if she even wants to be able to fit into it by the way she's acting.

She had the nerve to piss me off even further: We went out to go see the florist and after we left we're walking and she proceeds to stop at a variety store to buy a BIG @SS peice of cake, and a bottle of juice. Not water, not a piece of fruit, not pretzels or something to tide her over...but cake and juice?!? Then had the audacity to eat that mess in my car getting dumb @ss cake crumbs all over the place. no shame whatsoever as she stuffs her cheecks to their capacity spewing freeking cake out the sides of her mouth.

Later that evening she asks, "do you want to go to go get some pizza?"

Hel l yeah I want to get pizza, but I told her ,"no thanks, I need to make sure I can get into my dess"-throwing out a not-so-subtle hint.

So not giving a second thought, she then ordered up two slices of pepperoni & a large soda, then later traded my daughter one pepperoni slice for two of her cheeses slices?!? WTF WTF WTF!!!

She's 24, so I can't tell her anything. She gets so defensive if I say anything so I'm not going to. But I feel like she doesn't care if she fits the dress of not.

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

Ok that post was long, and this is a totally different topic so...

My coordinator has been MIA for a while now, so I sent her a email asking how things are going I haven't heard from her...etc. hold on let me copy and paste the conversation

ME:

Hi *******,
I just wanted to catch up with you because I haven't spoken to you in a while and I want to know where we stand. My main concern is that I would like to have a contract for service for the day of the wedding so I can secure your services (and so I can stop my panic!) I also have about three appoinments set up for this week that I will be going to, so I can provide you a list/numbers of our all of vendors since you said that you need it.
Basically time is winding down, and I'm trying to tie up all loose ends which I am finding very hard to do...
You said you would have had the contract by now, and I was wondering if you forgot about it.
Well, you can email/u.s.mail a contract at your earliest.
Talk to you soon,

HER:

As you can see I was not able to get to this email until now because I got sick . It looks like I am not going to be able to do your wedding because I have to do my thesis for my program starting next week. I had a class that lasted six weeks that was very stressful, and it seems that the classes is getting more stressful.

I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you but I am over extended because of school. Call me if you have any further questions pertaining to this matter.
*******

I thought that that was quite ignorant. Now I know what you ladies are going to say, it should have been in writing from jump. I KNOW, But this lady has been going with us to apponments, making suggestions, telling me to buy this and buy that (since january). On our last appoinment at the venue she was supposed to bring the contract which she "forgot" and said 'don't worry, I have it under control.'

Long story short I think she was BS-ing about her being able to pull off a wedding, and now I'm questioning if she's ever even done one before or just has 'dreams' of being able to do it. Why wait until now? BTW she was the lady that snaked us in and sold me my wedding gown, and BM dress at DB, then proceeded to sell herself at how well she coordinates weddings...YEAH RIGHT.

Its official - we have a strong group of women on this site that are protected by the blood of Jesus! Why else is the devil so busy in the last minute plans of all my sisters?!

MsBoston, don't worry about your sister, she will either get in the dress or she won't - there is so much other stuff you have on your plate (no pun intended) that you really don't have time to stress over what you can't control.

As far as the coordinator, charge it to the game. Evidently she has the gift of gab but not the blessing of completion! If you need help, advice, etc. on anything you know we are here. Try to find a relative, family friend, etc. who can assist you with the day of coordination and take it from there.

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

I agree with Future...focus your time on yourself and your FH, your MOH will probably start to cut back on her eating when she really realizes how she is going to look in the dress (so leave it to her).

As far as the wedding coordinator, did you pay her anything within the process? If so, I think you are entitled to a refund. If you can't find a family member or close friend, do you think you may be able to find another day of coordinator in your area?

I agree MsBoston, if your MOH can't fit in the wedding dress....she just can't be in it! I mean really......as far as your coordinator that was TRIFLIN' to tell you now, but at least it wasn't a week before the wedding and you were expecting her to be there and she does not show up. What do you still have left to do? Like the other said, get some trustworthy family member or friend to help you finish up the loose ends....and of course you have the suggestions and the help and most importantly the prayers of everyone on here!

Re: MsBoston's BlogSpot

Thanks Ladies for prayer and support. my amazing photographer got wind of my situation w/the coordinator and hooked me up with a coordinator he works with often. I met with her on sat. since then she had contacted each on of my vendors(except one), visited the venue, created a spedsheet with time lines, created a list of questions that we went over for the vendors...AND has all the questions answered!!! This ALL since Saturday!!!HELLO..It's only MONDAY!

I am so greatful that this woman has stepped in. She has thought of things that I forgot to think of, she is on top of it!

I have to go for my fitting and I swear if that 'old' coordinator in there...lawd help me maintain my cool.

And you know what. Yall are right 100% if she's not in it she's not in it. Sorry to say, but this is really her own doing. My mother told her the other day, "why don't you just take the dress in too see how much they can take it out or what they can do?" she flat out REFUSED! So I'm done with it.

oh, I didn't pay her a cent, or I would have took it out her...never mind!

You know what, that's NOT a bad idea. It's like they don't know what's expected of them. Minds well let them know early. Had to tell one of my BM's, "did you think you were just gonna put on a pretty dress and show up?" Apparently she had no clue that there was more involved in being a BM then getting to stand up there and pose for the camera. DUH! Maybe if I would have set out my expectation a little more clearly then there would be no confusion.

For my ladies night out next fri-sun all they have to do is pay $63 and they get roundtrip transportation to NY, pole dancing lessons, and a night at a luxury hotel in Times Square. And a broad had the audacity to pitch a fit?!? my guess is that she wasn't trying to do anything.

Don't worry when we get back I'm a point her out in all the pictures!

Oh, today, coordinator showin' out and working her tail off getting this mess in order! THANK YOU!!! Ladies nevermind what you heard, if you don't have an official coordinator, GET ONE! your nerves will thank you!

I'm using one of the ministers at my church as a day of coordinator. Sunday I told her I would need her help making sure I had everything lined up and homegirl handed me a 4 page list! She prepared this for me without me even asking! I think I may have to upgrade her to an "all-the-days" wedding coordinator. LOL!
