How far in advance

Hi there all..Newbie here. My fiance and I have been together 7 1/2 years and we are finally going to make this thing happen. I left it up to him to set the date after me setting 2 date previously and both dates fell though...Well..Last week he decided that we should make the move..He got this big contract and we can now afford the wedding of our dreams. Only one problem...He set if for the 29th of Sept...Right around the corner and I'm going nutso trying to get everything planned. I just ordered my invitations and they should arrive shortly. I'm just wondering should I go ahead and send them out now or should I wait until the beginning of August. I don't want people to throw them to the side and forget cause honestly I don't have time to harass, call and double check to see if people are coming..

First of all CONGRATUALTIONS....secondly WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!! You can mail off save the dates right now and send the invites a little later if you don't want people to forget. I'm sure you're going to get ALOT of wonderful suggestions from the women on here. Welcome again, and you've come to the right place to get all your answers!

I personally think that sending out save the dates would be a waste of time. Especially if your guest know that you are going to get married in Sept. I think that the money you will spend sending out save the dates can be used on something else. If all of your guest dont know about the wedding maybe you can send save the dates out via email. I would send invitations out the second week on August. Good luck with the rest of your planning process. Last but not least, WELCOME!

I agree with House. Since wedding is approaching soon, I'd wouldn't stress doing save the dates. That postage could be used for the invitations themselves. If you make them yourself and hand deliver ok but I wouldn't add to my expenses for them. I would send invites out mid August also but it really depends on the reply by date you put on invites. You want to give people 3-4 weeks to reply and out of town guests about 6 weeks.

Re: How far in advance

Welcome to the site! I would send the invitations out the 1st of August. I would set the reply by date at Spetember 12. This gives you a little over 6 weeks to receive RSVPs and a little over 2 weeks to get your final count and do your seating chart. Most caterers need a final head count 2 weeks before the event also.

Don't be shy! Keep the questions coming. Your date is very close and there are a lot of very helpful women on this site!

Re: How far in advance

First off welcome and congrats!!!! When do you need your responses back? I think depending on this date is when you should send out your invites.

For instance, my date is 9-15. I need to give the venue final count by August 31. I have my RSVP date by 8-13 (2 1/2 weeks before for the "slow" responders).

How much have you accomplished so far?

Thank you all so very much for your welcomings and response. I think I will just go ahead and send out the invites in the 2nd week of August as someone suggested. I hope u all don't get tired of me cause the questions are just starting. :)

Welcome, welcome, welcome. Don't go nuts just yet ;) Sept 29th IS around the corner, but you still have plenty of time to get things how you want them.
