Hi,
My future husband and I have decided that we will be leaving the hall where we will be holding our wedding reception in our wedding gown and suit instead of changing into the 'going away' clothes. My difficulty is that usually the newly weds will cut the cake, give out the cake to the guests and then go to the changing room. They will emerge after a while with different, more casual clothing and will be cheered by the waiting guests. What happens in our case? We'll cut and give out the cake... and then what? How will the guests know that we're leaving since they wouldn't be waiting for us? We'd like some cheering to take place in the last moments, but we don't know what the 'usual' is... Can anyone help please?
Thanks

I think you should just have the dj or emcee announce when you are leaving so everyone will know. We are leaving our reception in our "wedding clothes" too.
I like the idea of leaving in your wedding clothes. It's like the day isn't over yet! It would be great to go to the hotel dressed like that too. I bet we get a free upgrade!

I'm changing out of my dress into something more "slinky!" We're taking most of our pics before the ceremony, and the remaining during pre-reception hour, so I'll change during that time. Most couples leave with their wedding attire on, so it'll be great! I agree with the previous posts. Talk with your DJ/Emcee on suggestions for a smooth transition.
I thought the new Mr. and Mrs. were suuppose to "sneak" out from their reception while everyone else was still kickin' it? I guess there are different tradtions at different places. I planned on changing clothes too because I didn't remember ever seeing to many people come into a hotel at night with a wedding gown on, BUT to each his own...it does sound fun however :-)
We went to our wedding night in our wedding outfits. It was cool and a little embarrassing. at least the train of my gown came off! They gave us a free upgrade and a free late night room service dinner because of it! Cool.

I generally have bride serve the cake as part of the meal so that the cake will get eaten. What you can do is have the DJ or your coordinator to have the guest move outside the reception hall...where each guest gets bubbles or helium balloons. As you and your groom leave the event the guests blow bubbles or release balloons as they send you off to your new life.
uhhh whose question are you answering,MsCrystalyte? lol.

I'm not changing clothes AT ALL! I am wearing my gown until I'm about to fall asleep. lol That'll be the only day that I would be in my dress and I'm going to wear it to the end! lol
Good for YOU! I agree with that wholeheartedly. You don't want to look like another guest on your big day!

It is such a wonderful feeling especially if you are in a hotel or where ever it doesn't matter--when people see you in your gown they treat you so special and it does not matter that the entire event is over - it's kinda like the same reaction you will get when you are pregnant.
