Seriously considering walking barefoot down the aisle at our lakefront ceremony in Texas. But wondering if this would be too tacky. I had planned on getting a french pedicure and wearing a delicate ankle bracelet and possible toe ring.
I could also use tips on make-up. I have been in wedding before where all women in the party were made to have a 60.00 makeup session by a professional. I understood the brides desire for perfection but this seemed a bit much. I rarely wear anything other than a brilliant smile but I do understand that on this day it is important to look your best.
Does anyone have tips to achieve a do-it-yourself wedding day glow? Or is it best to go all out just this once? My cousin spent over $700.00 on her face and hair alone, all the way down to individually placed false lashes. Is that not a bit extreme?
My hair is locked so I just want to maintain my natural beauty on this day; keeping it fresh, clean and simple yet elegant!!

Well I'm glad to see that I won't be the only bride walking down the aisle barefooted. I too don't wear any make up and I know where you're coming from with the idea of of going to that make up counter in the mall. I've been there and its not that bad. You get the tips from them ask a lot of questions even ask them can you apply some of it yourself. This is coming from the number 1 TOM BOY. My suggestion is that you wear what makes you happy. you want natural go natural.

For pictures sake( so you won't have the shiny forehead glare) you might want to consider a little pressed powder. Not much, but just a little to help conceal shine.
I actually had my make-up consultation last night and was very pleased with the results. She asked what type of look I was going for and I told her natural. She really incorporated the look well with her color choices.
We're having a cook out at a beach in Biloxi MS as our rehearsal dinner and I'm wearing footlaces instead of shoes.

Footlaces! Those are really nice! That's a really good accent for your feet, especially when you are not going to be wearing shoes.
I live in Texas also. A friend of mine is getting married and she had a Mary Kay consultant come to her home and give her a free facial to find the perfect look for her wedding. You may want to try that.
I actually went into a department store, Filene's (I do not know if you have a Filene's, but maybe a store that is similar) where a special makeup consultant was coming in. I made an appointment with the consultant, and I told him that I was looking for a natural look --he was excellent. The consultant showed me how to apply my own makeup. I purchased the makeup which was approximately $100.00+. I had already purchased my foundation and lipstick previously (the foundation and lipstick that I always wear). I received so many compliments on my makeup on my wedding day. When my stepdaughter saw the wedding photographs later she asked me who does my makeup because it looked so professionally done.
Blessed be the Lord my strength ......
I personally do not wear make-up either but on my day I want to look different. No I do not want to be pancake on like Rosetta said but I want to WOW my guests who have never seen me all made up before and also too to conceal those rather shiny spots like forehead, nose and cheeks. Maybe you may know someone who can apply make-up on that will look professionally done, ask your girls, someone always has a friend of a friend that can contribute in some way.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
