Hello and congratulations to all you brides! My fiance and I have set a budget of $5,000 but no more than $8,000 for our ideal wedding. I would appreciate any suggestions that you ladies have that could make our dreams come true. We are planning to wed in November 2006, therefore we have plenty of time to explore our options. Thanks for your suggestions ladies!!!!!

That's a really good budget. I live in the Bronx too. You should check out the Museum of the Arts on the Grand Concourse. It's $1500.00 for 8 hrs or the Puck Building in Manhattan, their rates are suprisingly reasonable. Have you chosen you colors yet?

Thanks Phenomonique,
I will look into the Museum of the Arts on the Grand Concourse. That is very reasonable and for 8 hours no less! My fiance and I really don't have a lot of money so we are trying to do the best we can with the budget we set. I haven't quite locked in on my colors. But I was thinking about some shade of purple (my favorite color). I would also like to have a little gold mixed into the decorations. Thanks for the hook up!

Purple-the color of Royalty and one of my favorites. There are so many flowers that look awesome with purple, and it's a radiant fall color. I know of a few good florist too if you need them. :)

Rainbow Florist on Westchester and Unionport Rd. in Parkchester or Wild Orchids on Morris Park. If you hav picture they can make anything you want. The least costly route is to try to use the flowers for the season, you save on importing cost. Have you pick out a gown?
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
Phenomonique you are awesome, thanks for all of your help. I have picked out a gown. Speaking of me, do you have your colors picked out, gown, etc?

Have you considered a Mason or VOA lodge, or a community banquet hall? Some of them a real nice and always inexpensive. Has anybody tried the print your own invitation kits? If so did it work well for you?
Hi Sassymommie37, A Mason banquet hall is an option I didn't even think about. My brother belongs to a masonic lodge. I will speak to him about it. Also what is a VOA lodge. Do you mean veterans? Please explain. I intend to print my own wedding programs. I also will be ordering my invitiations from Vistaprint.com. They are really inexpensive. Thanks for your suggestion. I will definitely consider this option.

Congrats on the Bridal Boutique Phenomonique! Someone to take care of the sisters. It's about time!
Phenomonique, Sage and Lavender is an awesome combination. Also I wish you all the best on your bridal boutique. Will it be in the Bronx? I would love to stop by and check the boutique out.

Thanks Sassymommie37 and DaughterRhonda. Yes it will be in the Bronx on Ellis Ave, the carpenters are in the store now, and I'm picking up the paint tonight. I'm having a 'Grand Opening' in August. Date pending, I want to make sure all my supples are in. Shoe, veil, tiaras, the works.

Hi I am planning a wedding in June, and I need HELP!!! How can I plan a wedding & reception for $3000? Is it possible?
Anything is possible! Where are you located? Are you having the ceremony and reception in on place?
Living my life like it's GOLDEN!!
Hi Samdre, I agree with Phenomonique, anything is possible. I would suggest that you do your research, do a lot of comparison shopping and whenever possible do some things yourself (i.e. print your own wedding programs, make your own wedding invitations, and you can solicit the help of family and friends and have them help you cook the food for your reception to to name a few. Also read the Posts here at the Vibride site and you will be surprised at the money you can save. The ladies here have helped me so much. Good luck and welcome to the site!

Please tell me where your bridal shop is located!
I think the secret is really looking around and not settling, there are places out there that will accomodate you for little or nothing. I mentioned that at my first wedding, I only booked the room for me and my girls to get ready for 3 days and they gave me the option to have my reception either in their ballroom or by the poolside at not cost. It was wonderful and all I had to do was find a caterer and pay for the drinks and we did not spend near $3000.00. You can do it just keep looking and asking questions.

Excellent advice Charly!

That really is the secret to everyday life....asking questions. Someone always knows someone who knows how to go about something a certain way. Just ask and talk to people.

You guys are on fire with this post! Good going! When setting a budget be as realistic as you can. Break it down by how much you can spend per guest-- excluding your gown, but including all the details-- from flowers to food to napkins. So if you have 50 guests and a $3,000 budget that's $100 per guest. If you have a 150 guests then it's $33.35 per guest. Think about that.

I have people who always want me to accompany them when they are purchasing something or they will call to ask me to hook with up with friends that I have in places like the bank and vice verse...rule of thumb...."always talk to someone and aske questions"

I have to say, if you are truly on a budget and you are creative, you can always go to stores or the places you would like to have your reception at and just ask if you can get it for free or a deep discount. Believe it or not, most places will "hook" you up if you just ask. There may be a wedding dress that was on display or out of season and its the last one. Just tell them that you are on a tight budget and you love their store and products. Most places can write these items off. You will be surprised at the responses. Now you may not get everything, but it doesn't hurt to ask "What's the best deal I can get on this?" Also, if you are creative and there is something on the item you don't like, you may be able to alter it slightly to fit your style within a budget.
Welcome to the boards sea_grape. You are absolutely right about "just asking" businesses are often willing to work with you because it is good business for them as well.

They better...that's how they stay in business---word of mouth and referrals.
