Hello everybody,
Just any other bride, I have longed for the perfect wedding. Themes (I think) are the best way to show your creative side on your wedding day. I have thought of having a Arabian Nights Theme for my wedding.
Does anybody have any sugguestions to how I can bring this about? One thing that I do want is a bellydancer. I already know who I want. I just need some help with decorations and food for a afro-american family.
Thanks

QueenAkasa (Love the name)Lots of fabric, creat a tent around a sweetheart table for you and your hubby. Give it a Casbah look, what are your colors?

Awesome colors; you can use several shades of blue to creat your look. When is your wedding?

Have you considered Morrocan cuisine? Even finicky people like it ansd it is very flavorful and spicy! Belly dancers are a great hit and are so unexpected. I know that your reception will be awesome. Consider having pillows instesad of chairs at the reception to add to the atmosphere but do have chairs and regular tables for the elderly. Ask if you can create a Mini canopy at the alter of your church yousing sari wraps or some other exotic fabric in your wedding colors. Burn incense at the church and at the reception. Frankensence is yuummy and the chuch will accept it. I just LOVE your theme.

Have you started looking for your gown, and are you going to try to find one that fits your theme? This gown has that belly dancer look.

I have asked myself the same question. I haven't quite decided yet. I like the dress though. I kept it in mind.

It's never too soon to start planning. That way your not in a bind when the date rolls around. You should start picking up things you need for your theme as they go on sale. The pillow idea is very exotic and sensual, and burning frankincense and myrrh would really make it memorable.

That's a good choice for an 'Arabian Nights' wedding. QueenAkasha the day after I had the ring on my finger I started buying things for both the wedding and reception. And it eased the financal stress.
where can i find the exotic pillows?
My king...Behold our Kingdom!!! (Akasha to Lestat-Queen of the Damned)
Large throw pillows in rich colors that blend with your blue and gold.
Exactly Sassymommie37. Any pillows large enough to sit on in exotic jewel colors that enhance the blues and golds you selected would be great. If you have a sewing machine make your own and use them as give aways. The scent of the frankincense and myrrh will linger in them, add a tag with your names and wedding dates to it and there you are. Really, what can you do with all the pollows after the reception? You can even make an iron-ons and put it on the corner of each pillow. http://buy.overstock.com/images/products/T918942.jpg

cool...you guys are so great! I hope everything plans out well. One of my concerns is the food. I'm not too sure if my guests will be happy eating Moroccan food. Maybe I can mix it up between american and Moroccan.

Do a small selection of Moroccan food to fit the theme. Lamb, saffron rice, Tajine (stew), Tiny Beef Kebabs. If you go online you'll find out a lot of simple Moroccan recipes.

Great ideas you guys! You are such a wonderful resource! I like this site, Cooking.com for African and West Indian recipes. I find that they are accurate and it is like homecooking when you make it. As for Morrocan style things why not check out
Target or Pier 1? They have really great things always on sale and they have the right look for the price.
