OPINIONS PLEASE

What do you guys think of me walking down to K-CI and JOJO's this very moment? Also the aisle that I am walking down is a little on the short side so If I have a longer song should I just have it play all the way through even if I am done walking or how does that work?

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

You can always edit the song and have it short enough for the processional. Will you use a different song for the rest of the wedding party?

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

Like Phenomonique said you can edit it if you wish, but if you do not, I would not like for the song to continue playing if your at the alter and the priest may request it to be cut off...., there are several reasons he can do that, one of which may be to go along with the time in the event that something else is palnned in the church after your wedding. While I like K CI and JOJO, I am familiar with this song...maybe if I hear it. You may also consider having someone play, I do not particularly like the break when the bridal party reached the alter and the synthesizer or whom ever try to rush to put on your entrance music. My first wedding, my choir director gave me away, but at church we have an organ that can record so he pre-recorded Chariots of fire for my bridal party and immediatly after that Kenny G silhouette started playing...it was so beautiful and romantic and timed perfectly. You would want to create an atmosphere like that just to reiterate the love that is joining as one.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

I suppose I could edit it. I have alot of time to find a song so maybe I'll find one that is shorter. So far I plan to have my wedding party walk down to Gerald Levert-Made to love you

I love that song....as a matter of fact, that is the song that my new hubbie and I will be dancing to at the reception. Maybe you can too, that way you can let the entire song play.

Ribbon in the Sky is great. Not so great to watch someone dance to though. IMHO. If you think you can edit your processional down, then go for it. But the entire song should not play out while you are standing at the altar.

The fabulous Etta James. The lyrics are something else. You're right Charlotte, it brings tears to your eyes. Another one I love is the Temptations rendition of Night and Day. My mother in law says I have an old soul, LOL. I prefer listing to the greats, you know, when lyrics moved you. Not Feelin on your booty, or Bump Bump Bump. LOL!

I wanted to walk to Beyonce's dangerously in love but then i also love rkelly's forever , Tyrese's Lately, and Prince's Adore so i was going to try to come up with a way to use atleast 3 of em so i was thinking i can walk down the aisle to dangerously in love , use forever as an outro when we are leaving the church , and maybe us a third lately for my first dance. I'm still stuck on what to use for the bridal party to walk to.Do u guys think this is too much? What songs are u all using?

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

CONGRATULATIONS DELLA..........I have one question for you thou....what are you doing here, shouldn't you be on honeymoon?. Phenomonique girl I have to listen to these old classic cus you are really stuck on them, I want to be blown away by them also :-). Mrsdonaldson, if you do not favor any of the suggestions that the other ladies said, what you can do it choose out of the three songs the one you love the least and let your bridal party walk to that one, the DJ can always play it again at the reception if you want. The song you decide to leave with will only be played for a short time because the exit is usually fast.

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

I just want to say that you ladies are truly amazing and it's beutiful to see women come together to help each other out. I have one suggestion for a song and I think I will use it for our first dance but it's by Kenny latimore and Chante moore and it's called "I Do". it's a beautiful song.

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

Hi Ladies,

I am just curious to know if any of you are having your ceremony in the church, and if so, is the pastor having a problem with secular music being played? My husband and I were chewed out royally by our previous pastor (after that I went back to my home church) a month later for playing secular during our ceremony and the reception, and our ceremony was not even in the church(the music was not offensive, mostly "oldies, but goodies").

Blessed be the Lord my strength ......

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

2ndTime girlllll I am sorry to hear about the drama you got from your Pastor. I am so surprised thou...at most weddings the music of choice is secular, because of the perfect words associated with that type of music...romantic and just plan breath taking (if you would), unless you had topless dancers present :-), I do not understand his rational behind getting upset. Did you ask him about it and I pray he did not make a scene during the actual wedding, I think I would have been a very angry bride. I advise you not to have or hold any malice towards him, let God deal with him in His own way. Other than that, I trust your wedding was fabulous and when did you get married?

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

Rosetta and CharlotteModebe, I agree -- this site is all about some awesome women -- I love Vibride. CharlotteModebe, thanks so very much for your response. The Pastor is female, and I would be lying if I said that I was not upset. In the first place, she did not have to say anything, and especially after a month after the wedding, she definitely did not have to say anything. I agree with you in respect to the music, and like my husband told her "if a few hours of secular music is going to make you "back slide" then you were not in the right place with God in the first place." My wedding was beautiful -- I was happy, my husband was happy, and the majority of our guests were happy (majority rules :-). I prayed to God to help me to get over my anger which I am over now. Like you said, I am letting God deal with her and her husband, if it is His will to do so. My husband and I were being judged. I feel that if the Pastor can watch a movie involving evil and cursing then what right did she really have to say something about the music that was played at my ceremony and reception. The Pastor told me that she could not say anything to her sister because she was in her sister's house (my FH at the time and I were at her sister's house when the movie was playing). To boot, the Pastor did not leave her sister's house, she stayed and enjoyed the movie (but she and her husband judged my husband and me). By the way, our ceremony was on June 18th.

Blessed be the Lord my strength ......

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

I really enjoy reading your comments on this site. I don't always reply but I have gotten some really great ideas for our wedding. Excited1, I don't know what type of music that you and your fiance are into but we (my fiance and I) combined music for the ceremony. He likes oldies and I am more of a Mary J kinda girl. Our mothers and my bridesmaids will come in to So Amazing by Luther and I will walk down to You by Jessie Powell. One of my good friends is the musician for the ceremony so he didn't have a problem with learning the music for us. HE also created a melody to play softly while my sister reads a poem called WHY Marriage. I wasn't picky about the recessional music. It's whatever he decides to play. HE knows us pretty well so he will find something that will fit who we are. I hope this helps and good luck with the planning.

Re: OPINIONS PLEASE

Okay I have another idea my FH suggested it actually. What do you guys think of me walking down to Alicia keys- If I ain't got you? If I did I would actually use the version with usher in it I don't kow if you all have heard that one, but it's the same words he just sings the second verse basically. This is a song that we consider "our song" so that's why he suggested it. Input please

I think that's a beautiful idea. That way it's more sentimental and you both had imput with the decision. I really like that suggestion.

2ndTime, honey, precious, my love.....listen girl, as christians we sometimes get caught up being so perfect (or trying to be) that don't see our own faults....I say to her...talk to the hand!...as a matter of fact you need to introduce her to vibride.com so she can see how women support and encourage each other instead of pulling them down. I am so happy your wedding was fabulous. God bless you and your new husband, live life to the fullest enjoying everyday together. Rosetta...girl, you know we just llllloooovvveee you and your wonderful site, and in Bahamian broken slang.."v een gern no way", we love it here. Excite1, I like the idea of using something that is significant to you and your FH, it will be more sentimal like Sugarbear said and to Kialuv93, girl reply/respond...it's fun and nothing is nicer that being called "Super Diva"...I can't wait to see what comes after that. :-)
