My FH wanted me to ask this fabulous group of wedding pros about holiday weddings...Has anyone done it? Any advice? Pros & cons? We're talking about Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years Eve in particular. His POV is if it's on Thankgiving or Christmas, we could have a ceremony only & no reception because families have their own things (cookouts, etc) going on. I actually dig the New Years Eve because we'd bring in the new year as a married couple, but I wonder about the church. What do yall think?

I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.
Delight yourself also in the Lord & He shall give you all the desires of your heart.-Psalm 37:4
Cinni honey, people love weddings and no matter what time of the year it is, they will be there, they will plan their family functions around your wedding. One good thing about holiday weddings is you would not have to spend so much on decorations as most places are already decorated especially churches and if you wanted to add a little of your own, you can work around what is already there and it makes choosing your color so much easier.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
My FH and I are getting married on December 30, 2006. I am very excited and our families are too. Now they have something to do for the New Year! Happy planning!!
I agree, family and friends will support you no matter what time of year you have your wedding. I do know one thing -- New Year's Eve, people usually love getting together and are looking for a way to bring in the New Year -- what better way than at a wedding? And as Charlotte said, during the holidays most churches are already decorated. I would however, check around because a lot of churches have the schedules booked during that time. I wish you all the best!

Like Rhoda said you must ensure the church does not have a prior function on your day...if you have a good rapport with your church (active member) they will fit you in no matter what, but if not, the sooner you request the use the better it will be for you.
