Hi ladies I have a dilemma. I saw this dress that I have to have, online it's $475, and in stores it's $780. I'm scared to spend that kind of money online, but I can't afford to spend $700 on a dress. You see my fiance and I are paying for everything ourselves, and we're not on a big budget. Anyone ever ordered their dress online?

Hi Ladies, I too would appreciate the advice from anyone who has purchased their dress online. I saw a dress online also, however it is more expensive in the stores as well, please send some help to Trinigirl and I. Thanks.

Before you purchase online read their policies. If you receive an item misrepresented in the ad, will the give a refund. Also pay attention to phrases like 'compares to' or 'similar to', there are many online companies selling designer replicas. If you don't mind a knock-off, than thats not important. Have some one take your measurements. Keep all order documents, they confirm the size gown you ordered.

Because of all the "red tape" associated with buying something online. I may opt to just buy the dress from the stores and pay the difference. In this way I will be able to try it on and have someone from the store take my measurements and I can get the necessary alterations. I don't want to get a dress from online and end up regreting it. I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

Trini and Daughter...why don't you let Phenomonique deal with your dresses as she is very familiar with the policies and procedures as they relate to online purchases. Rhoda you are right where Monique is so give her the headache, she specializes in weddings. Ladies you have the resources here on Vibride, use them!
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
Will do, will do!

Thanks ladies for the input. I'm nervous about buying online, but it's almost the same as buying in store. Because the places I've called are saying once you've ordered that's it, no refunds or exchanges. My plan was to get my measurments done by a bridal seamstress and then place the order online. I've checked out 3 websites and their polices. www.netbride.com, www.bridaldiscounters.com, and houseofbrides.com. 2 of the 3 have a contact list of previous customers for references. I don't know this is a tough one. Pray for me that I make the right decison. And thanks again for all the input.
Trini, I personally do not trust advertisments...I mean who's to say that the people on their contact list is not on the payroll, do not make hastie decisions and once again CONTACT PHENOMONIQUE!

trinigirl, I had thought about buying my wedding dress online, but I was a little uneasy about doing it. Although I felt uneasy, does not mean that it cannot work. I agree with phenomonique -- dot your i's and cross your t's before ordering online. Best of luck to you whether you buy online or from a store.
Blessed be the Lord my strength ......
I have a related question. I purchased a dress that I really don't like, but later found the one I've always dreamed about. Anyway, I want to sell the first one. Can anyone recommend something other than ebay to do that?
Hi Hampton_S, you can try selling your dress on the sellyourweddingdress.com website. They promote your dress on several sites (including ebay). However, there is a small fee of $29.00 for posting your ad for six months. Also before you list/sell your dress any where, please be sure to read the fine print. I hope this helps. I'm sure the ladies on the site can come up with some suggestions for you. Good luck!

HI LADIES I KNOW IT'S BEEN A WHILE. HOW IS EVERYONE? WELL CONCERNING MY DRESS DILEMMA.....I ORDERED IT ONLINE AND IT CAME IN BEFORE THE DELIVERY DATE GIVEN AT TIME OF PURCHASE. AND GUESS WHAT....YES IT WAS EVERYTHING I HOPED IT WOULD BE AND I SAVED $300. SO I WOULD DEFINITELY RECCOMEND THIS WEBSITE TO ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO SAVE MONEY AND GET THE SAME HIGH PRICED DRESS FOR LESS. THE WEBSITE IS www.netbride.com. MY WEDDING PLANNER AND I CHECKED WITH THE BBB TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE LEGIT AND THEY ARE. I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH THEM.
That is good that you had a good experience with them, trinigirl. I have chosen to have my dresses ordered through Phenomonique, our resident bridal diva. I'm just too scared to chance it. However, AlliesS if you are listening, perhaps you may want to check this site out.

You all would not believe this but after moving into our new home my FH and had to make some adjustments to our wants and needs for the wedding and i said that I was not going to give up my $800 dress. Well God has a strange way of working things out. My mother had asked me if I still wanted the dress because she thought that I could find another one cheaper and that they would give us money to buy things for our home instead. Since she and my stepfather are paying for the reception and were going to pay for 1/2 my dress I thought I'd consider it. Well, low and behold the next day I read a post from someone on here that said they ordered their dress from ebay. Of course, I'm an ebay freak but never thought to look at their wedding gowns. I found one that next morning and communicated with the seller for about two days. Yall, long story short, my mother and I decided to order it and it was delivered on Friday. It fits perfectly and my mother only paid $180 which included the white bag to preserve it and shipping/handling. I absolutely love it and I am thankful to Rosetta for this website because it has really exposed me to some great resources and wonderful women. Oh, my stepfather was in tears when he saw me in the dress and my Mom said it was the best $180 she's ever spent. Now she has a website aislegowns.com but she sells dresses cheaper on ebay. Her name is Kimberly Householder, very very, helpful and professional. Oh and she refunded us $50 because when she was putting the gown in the bag she accidentally tore a small area on the train but you can hardly see it and she will refund you if you don't like it. So mom actually spent $130. God is so good. I shared all this because I was once weary about buying a dress online but I see that it can be a success.

I will Rhonda.I already talked with Nique and she found my deress for $699 but thats about $300 over my budget.I will have to do alot of calling around to see if they have the dress for cheaper. If not I can find someone who can make it for me, that way I can personalize it more and I can actually see the product before and not just when it returns.

Great! I am obsessed with online shopping. It is just as safe as instore shopping. But check around locally too. You never know where you will find a deal. Understand too that most online stores have a storefront in their local town too.

Thanks Rosie. That's great information for anyone who would be interested in purchasing something online. My neice is planning a destination wedding, and her computer is down so she hasn't been able to log on to Vibride. I am passing all of the wonderful ideas that I get here to her. Those of you who chose to do so, please keep us posted.

Rosey, I too am an online shopping freak. Last week alone I ordered 3 purses and tiffany jewelry. My FH had a fit but he got over it.

Here's a suggestion. Why don't you try it on in the store and then purchase it online. That way you won't go wrong with the fit and you can save money.
Or y'all can call a sista up, I just marked 15 gowns down. I decided to carry other vendors. So if you're still looking I have some beautiful gowns that have been marked down.
