Hi Ladies, I have a question regarding what to do with my nails on my wedding day. I don't normally wear nail tips because I had a very bad experience. I had my natural nail split down to the middle while wearing those tips. It was very painful and took hours to remove the tips without ripping my nail off -- needless to say I don't wear tips anymore. My delimma is the nails on my left hand are long and strong. The nails on my right hand are short and brittle. I don't know if any of you ladies have this problem. I really want both of my hands to look nice on my wedding day -- Ladies, any suggestions? Pleeeeease help!

Rhoda I think we all at one time or the other have had that problem...and seeing that we hardly use the left hand, it always seems to be the one with the strongest nails soooooo, my advise to you is cut the long nails (sorry)to the length of the short nails and have them over layed (not tips only acrylic) for the wedding. Nah I know that sounds like something you do not want to hear but I see that as the only solution to not putting on tips at this point and the acrylic will give it a beautiful finish.

I love tips. I have had a similar problem a few years back. I totally swore them off. But my manicurist suggested a linen wrap and I haven't looked back. They look more natural than acrylics.

DaughterRhonda, I used to do nails about 10 years ago.Try gel nails or even a fiberglass wrap. Also, PLEASE be selective about WHERE you get your nails done.Remember, not everyone in a nail salon can do nails and true professional will can instruct you on proper care for both natural and artificial nails.God Bless!

nowadays short nails are in- a simple polish and bam! neat hands. I've been trying a new product and so far so good. Its called Majic Nail it runs $7 here and after wearing tips nonstop for months until a month ago, my nails are short but looking more healthy and growing stronger. I just cut some of them off 3 days ago and I'm seeing growth already. You polish 2 coats 2xs a week and go from there. Its in a black & purple box
Once again ladies you have come through for me. Thank you!

Rhoda you think I am joking :-), I really want to know what this "line wrap" is...it sounds so pretty. I wear my nails very short and when they look like they are growing, I cut them down to the butt again but this thing has me intrigued... :-)

I am intrigued about the fiberglass and gel nails -- I've never heard of those options before. Please elaborate ladies.

Hi ladies, a fiberglass wrap is like a silk or linen wrap.A thin piece of fiberglass is placed on top of your natural nail(and tip) and sealed with a glaze. Then, they are bluffed to a high shine.Gel nails are done the same as acrylics except the gel causing less damage to your natural nails.Sometimes, they are set with an ultraviolet light.Ask a reputable nail technician about them. They are good alternatives to acrylics. They also sell at home kits by "Kiss" at some beauty supply stores and Walmart. However,I'm not sure how well those products work.God Bless!

Thanks Platinum...you sound like you really know your stuff.
So you are saying if my nail is short, the technician can add a tip and then wrap it is this special clothe and gel---none of that intoxicating acrylic then buff, hmm interesting if I may say so myself.
