I did as well. It's a pretty simple titanium band. He's in the military, and after being seriously approached by another soldier (who he outranks) he was very uneasy. So we decided on him wearing a band as well. After the wedding, it will become the band he wears when he works around the house, plays basketball, etc.
I have not considered it but it sounds like a sweet gesture. My sweetie is a Mason and I have thought abt getting him a Masonic ring; maybe that can be considered something of an engagement ring. Some of those rings can be designed to fit the person that you are buying it for. I think I might look into something like that.....
Well I guess it is not so rare after all. I was thinking about surprising my Sweetie, because he is so good to me I just wanted to show him my appreciation.

I am getting my honey an engagement ring. It was his idea. And I think that makes us unique and set apart from other couples. His wedding band will have diamonds in it, so his engagement ring will only be a plain band. He'll switch the two once we are married.
I got one for Eloi too. I loved mine and I did want everyone to know he was taken! lol. Look at men's rings at DI. They have really inexpensive ones and they are a great quality. Fun too. Why is men's jewelry so much less than ours????
Thanks for the post Rosetta, I will check it out. Mens jewelry is so much cheaper than ours because someone came up with the slogan "diamonds are a girls best friend!". I personally love the ice (lol)!!!!

It was Carol Channing that coined that phrase. She rolled like that in real life and wrote a song about it too. lol Wanna hear it? lol. I live in DI jewelry myself I really like them.
I have been lurking in here for a while and I have finally built up the courage to make a post. I personally love the idea of male engagement rings. I found this site useful when i was looking for a ring for him. He loves it too, and makes the relationship that much more meaningful and special. Maybe I will start posting now, I just had to share where I got him his ring.

I understand your fear, and thank you for your welcome, I am in no way affiliated with any jewelry store (I work at a grocery store though :P). I used to go to so many forums but they all started getting over ran with spam, and now I don't go to them as much.
To stay on topic, For some men I imagine it is really really nerve racking to propose, that is why i like the idea of an outgoing women to be strong and pop the question. This isnt the 60s.
I like the idea of a male engagement ring but it is not so popular in the UK. My FH has always said that he wouldn't mind a bit of bling! I'll just get him an extra special wedding band!
well i would'nt say i actually got my fh an engagement ring, but he is getting two rings, one to wear to work that is just a plain white gold band. his "dressed up" ring is one and a half carrots and to me that qualifies as an engagement ring, some women don't get rings that heavy!
Up until now, I don't think I ever thought about getting my FH an engagement ring. BUT now I'm going to start looking. I think he would be really surprised!!!
Male engagement rings are sometimes called promise rings too. Let the world know he is off the market! LOL It is a pleasant surprise and some guys will actually enjoy wearing one!
[quote="DaughterRhonda"]Has anyone bought their honey an engagement ring? I know it is rare to buy a man an engagment ring. I was just curious.

I did....We got engaged 2/18/07 and I surprised him with a ring on his bday 11/25/07. I had a speech and everything prepared. He received an engagment ring and the matching braclet...He loved it and wears it faithfully
