Evening wedding?

What time should evening weddings start? What color should be worn at an evening wedding? Should it be the traditional black tie since it's evening? Please help.

Re: Evening wedding?

Hey girl oh and I see you are new...welcome welcome. Listen, evening weddings are fabulous in that you can do so much with it...so much more than you can normally do for a day or morning wedding. I would say the starting time depends on day-light savings time, now evening comes around 5:30 pm that is a beautiful time, and what should be worn is determined by the time of yer you are getting married...whatever you decide pick your favorite color and darken it. Black tie will be appropriate for men especially if you are having formal. But all in all..evening weddings have no holds bared. Have fun!

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

I would definitely have an evening wedding start between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. When is your wedding date?

Hi
I wanted to ask this same question. My only thought would be, wouldn't it be nicer to have the sun setting during the reception? Rather than the actual ceremony?

Hi Aileen and welcome to the boards. You are in the company of some very creative, marvelous women. To answer your question -- having the sun set during your ceremony or reception is a matter of individual preferance. Perhaps some brides would prefer to have the sun setting during the ceremony, others might want the reception. Either one would be beautiful during an outside ceremony and/or reception.

Re: Evening wedding?

I'm having an evening outside wedding which starts at 7:00pm. After this year daylight savings time will occur in March from here on out so it will be getting darker later on. I'm a HUGE fan of candles and we've hired a lighting expert to emphasize the intimacy yet keeping the event extremely formal. My only issue was that I had to change the attendants' dresses from being tea-length to floor-length. But they'll still be beautiful.

We are going to start the ceremony at 6. And, then we figure the reception would be from 8-midnight or 1. We were also thinking of having a cocktail party theme for the reception.

Use lots of candlelight and rose petals. You picked soft colors, what shade of pink are you thinking of?

Re: Evening wedding?

I'm glad I found this post....We just found out that the hotel we were going with can't do an afternoon wedding and that if we went on the day we want, we would have to start at 4:30 (Outside gazebo ceremony) with a cocktail reception immediately after with hors d oervers and punch while we take pictures and then the reception after....I didn't want to start this late because my Pastor is driving in to do our wedding (We live 4 hours north of where the wedding will be).....but the more I think of it the more romantic it sounds...we can change the date and all but we are so in love with this date!!!! Any ideas on how a late afternoon outside wedding can still have a classy feel? We're not on the beach or anything so we won't have a sundown.....Evening weddings are usually really formal, but we don't really want it to be overly formal, but we really want this date! How can we make this late-afternoon-evening wedding event be not as formal, but still elegant?

We've been Happily Married 2 Years and Counting:)

Most people show up to weddings dressed to the nines, but unless you invite reads formal or black tie affair, you have nothing to worry about.
