What have you accomplished so far?

Hi SeptBride. When is your wedding date, sorry I can't remember. My wedding date is November 11, 2006. I have chosen my bridal party, bought miscellaneous items and chosen our colors. I have not yet booked the wedding/reception venue (we know where we want to have it, but have not finalized anything). We are so busy trying to find an apartment. We looked at a beautiful apartment, but it didn't work out for us. We have some other things in the works though. Once we move, then we will move ahead and book the wedding/reception venue. My FH seems to think we have a lot of time, but I keep telling him that we only have approx. 10 months.

UPDATED: I have chosen my bridal party, (City) location, and chosen our colors. Booked & paid the deposit for the wedding/reception venue yesterday. I purchased my dress & veil...I also picked up FH's wedding band (He bought my wedding band last month). My mother & MIL will cater the reception & my mom will buy the cake.

I have put a deposit on the reception site. We have spoken to our minister and have set the date (8-5-06). I have my gown and shoes. My BM's have all been fitted. My mom and niece (FG) have their dresses. A friend of ours who is a licensed travel agent is setting up our honeymoon. The girl is BAD in the kitchen, needless to say she's doing our cake too. A long time friend/neighbor of the family is catering. We still have a mass of stuff to do but it's getting there.

Wow L_Evet, you are no joke. That is wonderful. I hope that by the time I am six months away from my day that we will have done more. Finding an apartment seems to be consuming most of our time. My fiance's lease is up at the end of February. We have been looking since last year and have not found something affordable and safe.

Rhonda, finding an apartment is about as stressful and time consuming as planning a wedding. I don't know that I could be under the presure of two major events at the same time. You go wit your BAD self.

I have secured the church, booked a photographer and set up counseling sessions for me and the FH. I have 3 appointments for tomorrow regarding the reception hall. My wedding is Nov 4, 2006 and all of the places I originally wanted are already booked for weddings! So I pray tomorrow will bring me some peace in the matter! Can you belive some reception sites want as much as 3300.00 just for the site!

I know how you feel SeptBride I also feel like I have not accomplished much of anything in the plannning process. So much more to be done!!! I have the ceremony site and the reception site(which are at the same place) I have my wedding party picked out, but only one of my bm's fitted. I'm picking my dress up Friday, but I still have to get the catering,cake, and floral arrangements together and so much more. This is really starting to feel overwhelming I honestly can't wait til the wedding is over so the stress can be all gone :)

Sept it may not seem that you have accomplished a lot but in actuality if you really take stock you have done a fabulous job so far....all you need now is forever everything to fall in place. Congratulations and Good Luck and to all you other brides as well. :-)

You Ladies are really handling business!I haven't been so lucky.Between financial set backs and lots of drama (more bridal party drama),I haven't been able to get much accomplished.Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to secure my Date of June 17th.My FH told me not to give up so I'm still hard at work with my planning.I'll keep you ladies informed.

You better believe we gat your back Platinum. You will have crazy obstacles but it will all work in the end. Be encouraged.

PlatinumStyle, hang tough. Don't let those bridesmaids see you sweat. We brides to be have to take control of our wedding and let it go the way we want it to go. It's our day not theirs. Keep God in the planning. Much success.

I agree Platinum...don't give up yet. I am starting to feel the same way but I am holding strong. My date is June 9th. All the planning is done, but guess what? There's not enough money. I just continue to pray that God will make a way. Just have faith the size of a mustard seed gurl, and watch HIM bless you. I am a believer. As far as what I have accomplished so far...well, I got engaged 02/10/05. By March the reception hall, the limos and the DJ was booked, and the date was secured with my church. By May, the photographer and videographer was booked. I ordered my dress in October, my girls were fitted in Decemder and my florist was booked in December. Not much else to do now except little stuff...programs, invitations, favors etc.. Can you tell I am excited?

Nlbostic, gurl you are no joke! You were not playing! It's true God will bless you if you just trust Him. My wedding is 10 months away and I don't have any of the major stuff done, because we are still trying to find an apartment. We have an appointment this weekend to see four, so I am trusting and believing that we will find something we both love. Then look out yall cause here I come!!!!!

The worst part of planning is the waiting in between the months...and worrying that something will go wrong....relaxxxx you'll everything will be alright. Rony you'll just take ya time with those apartment this weekend...one of those is for you and you will get it. You'll take care ok cause God really does take are of His "own".

So true, so true. Ladies, my FH and I saw an apartment that we both actually love (in Jersey City). I hope that we will get it, I will be talking further with the owner. I am trusting and believing. I am ready to get the show on the road!!!

Will do SeptBride, I am expecting wonderful things to happen. The stop on the path train is Journal Square, I'm not too familiar with Jersey City, but perhpas you know where that is.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you Ronnie. If it's for you, then it will be. I am sure it will work out. Keep me posted also.

Hey ladies, I promised to keep you posted on this apartment information. It looks like we will not be getting the apartment that I love. The situation is my FH insists on being the "head", he feels that it is his job to take care of the expenses for finding/providing a home for his family. I am happy that he feels that way, but as a result he doesn't want to break his lease, and he says that he would have to pay rent for two apartments. My lease is up and I am renting on a month-to-month basis, so I am willing to move in first and just pay February's rent alone (I can afford to do so), but he isn't having it. I don't know if this is a case of male ego or if this is the way it is supposed to be. I don't want to fight about it, so I have released it to the Almighty for His guidance and direction. (tears)

DaughterRhonda, DaughterRhonda, DaughterRhonda come on now, the apartment was in the palm of your hands but you know what, I agree with nlbostic. If it's for you it will be. You and your FH seem to be very patient people. At least you all started looking early so that you wouldn't just settle on any apartment. Time is winding down though since his lease will be up in March. Sometimes you have to compromise. I'm sorry you have the stress of looking and planning at the same time. The Lord knows what He is doing and will not put on you what you can not bear. He will see you through. Get on your knees and pray, pray pray. (smile)

Thank you Marshine, Gurrlll I am praying, and I know it will work out. I am truly holding on to that. I spoke with the owner of the house yesterday and she has the exact same apartment in the same house located on the first floor (the other apartment was on the second floor). It will be available on the 15th of February. God truly works in mysterious ways. She told me to call her in a week......

Hi you'll missed you all for a couple of days...but I'm back. Listen Rony, everything happens for a reason, everything in it's time and nothing before. God does EVERYTHING for a reason and sometimes we do not know why but we just gatta trust him. Also you saud your FH feels it is his place to provide!!...girl that is what you call a real man....not a lot of them around so be blessed and let him do what he feels he should be doing as a provider.

Thank you Charlotte, I am very blessed to have the man that I have, he is an excellent provider -- I thank God each and everyday for him. And you are right God does everything for a reason and we just have to trust Him, so that is exactly what I will do.

So many men have been given bad names and some rightfully deserve it but when you find a good one---he really should be given his accolades and this man you are about to committ your life to should definitely be given his....so God bless you both...Amen!
