Videography

Try finding a photographer that does videography too. You can probably get a package deal for both.

I'm with Nlbostic, my FH's college buddy is taking care of this as a wedding gift for us. If I was in the market, I would be looking for a package deal.

I recommend if you can fit videography in your budget that you go ahead and splurge for it. I just recently got my video back from my photographer and I must have watched it a good ten times already. There are so many things you miss on the day that pictures don't always capture. I am SO SO Glad I paid for videography. Some of the comments guests made during interviews were priceless. I also got to witness many facial expressions and actually see my bridal party walk the aisle. Watching the video is like reliving the day all over and I feel all warm and cozy inside, even noticing something new each time I watch it. If I ever figure out how to post clips from it I'll share. Can't seem to find a way to transfer my dvd to the computer without buying software.

Sounds good Pamcrow ...we actually were thinking about spending that extra penny 2 ...you're making me think about it a little more now ...:)

we are definetly having our wedding on video for the exact reasons pamcrow stated. Bc things are happening so fast you don't see alot of what goes on BEFORE your entrance or while you are standing saying your vows. I think it is a great investment

We will definitely have a videographer. If I had to cut this or photography I would probably choose video and do freeze frames for pics! LOL! j/k - or maybe not!

I did the package deal thing.. and it works out good for us.

We paid for a videographer and it was worth it. We actually got a deal by just taking the raw un-edited footage, and my DH and his friend are supposed to edit it...They are computer nerds...so it was only like 150.00 for 2 cameras. Plus he was a friend. Even the raw footage was great because our guy is really talented and professional. Its still not completely edited and it was originally in the form of like 4 DVD's but I love watching it! Even if we had to pay for a full package, its worth it like Pam said because you get to see and hear people's responses and see all the action BEFORE you come in...After the bride enters, its like 15-20+ minutes left in the wedding...you see nothing beforehand!......My DH was even like quieting me down because he wanted to see if he can hear people making mean comments but they weren't! I even saw that my coordinator made people wait like an extra 5 minutes for me to walk in after everyone was in...my DH was like he felt so nervous when he saw I was taking longer than expected....I was at the church the whole time, my coordinator was just building everyone's excitement for my entrance!

FH and I have decided to go with videography for the ceremony only. We got a great referral from a friend, we contacted the guy and he sent us a demo and we did a contract. So you guys can also way that option and it will cut down on cost.

That is a good idea....Also, you can have them video certain "shots" vs taping the whole reception:
For example:

Walk in
First dance(s)
Cake cutting
Speeches

Definitely do your research and negotiate! Since many videographers don't use "tape" anymore, they save a lot of time editing, and its time and cost effective for you both....Ask how much it would be for 1 hours's worth of reception video of significant shots vs. whole taping...its a lot less of editing time for them, and that also saves $$$

We also did a contract with our photographer guaranteeing us certain shots whch were outlined and listed in detail....then we let him be creative with other shots....that saved a lot of $$$! Plus it guaranteed we got the shots we wanted!
