Centerpiece suggestions?

Hi all. I just found out that the reception hall doesn't supply centerpieces for the dinner (only for the coctail hour). Do you have any suggestions that's cheap but elegant? Flowers seem to get very expensive.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

You can go to your local craft store like Michael's and get square mirrors, small "fish bowls" with the ruffled tops, glass beads or marbles in your wedding color and tea light candles and greenery.Put the bowl on top of the mirror and put the beads inside the bowl. Then fill it with water and place the candles on top,if you got the greenery like vine leaves you can hot glue it to the mirror for added decoration. Most tea light candles will float and are quick to replace once they go out.If the reception is in a well lite room you may not need the candles until the dancing begins. You can also do the same thing with long and short glass tubes that will fit a tea light candle in it.The mirror add light from the candles and the beads and floating candles look nice, they can also be taken home by guest to create more if they desire or just to take a piece of yur big day with them.A good way to decide who gets the centerpieces is to place/tape a piece of colored paper to the bottom of the chair and at the end of the night announce whoever has the paper takes the centerpieces.Hope this helps!

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Welcome to the site Alvinslove. Thank you very much for your suggestion. I think that will be pretty (the mirror, with fish bowl). I'm quite sure it probably won't be that expensivie. BUt, I will have to do it for about 22 tables.

Island you did such a wonderful job on your pieces...I want to know how you got those long silver stems to stand up in the bowls?

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

the silver ribbons I bought on a lil spool from Family Dollar Store...I just cut it in strips..then tied the bows on the stems....I also plan on putting a large fish bowl on the kids' table with Red and White m&ms..with hidden papers in the bowl under the candy each giving the person whose name is pulled...there will be a task on the inside of the note ie*dance with the bride/groom* etc.I figure it would be a good ice breaker....and a separate little bowl from walmart with red bettas fish..one for each kid.

WOW Island you really gat this thing down pack...it sounds so cool, and you including children...that is ultra cool cause most people have a "no children" policy....nice to hear.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Now this is truly wonderful! Kudos to IslandBride and AlvinsLove you guys have truly been a blessing. I didn't have a clue about what to do for my centerpieces. I'm having a smaller intimate ceremony, but I have about 12 tables in total to decorate. I feel a burden has been lifted. Thanks a million!!!!

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Rony how many people can each table sit? You said you are having a small wedding but boy 12 tables sound like a lot of people--I'm averaging 10 people per table..is that so?

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Ten people per table yes. Three of those tables are for the bridal party. So actually it is only 7 tables at 10 per person, plus two smaller tables set up for children.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

In the beginning we would've had 200 plus guests. Now we are only having about 65-70. That is a big difference, most are family and close friends.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

hey ladies.....this has nothing to do with centerpieces but I notice this is one of the posts we are on frequently...I am doing something a little odd...and my mom thinks Im crazy...but I never wanted a run of the mill wedding...I want something that is unique and after all is said and done, my FH and I will remember it for the lil special details...I am writing a message to him on my runner. It will be a few lines that I wrote to him from our first love letter. He knows exactly what those words are...and will recognize them when he sees it.

Island girrrllllll you maybe need to reconsider your profession....you are so creative it is unbelievable...I love love loe the idea, it is unique and it will be most memorable...it kinda reminds me of Dushess of York's dress with the "A" in the back for Andy. So very cool....I support it and absolutely love it :-)

Charly charl! I see ur online....I am so nervous...I will have his name in fine rhinestones along the back of my train.....I am literally sick to my stomach(4 real) Nerves are eating me. Our balance is due to the venue on Monday....he just called me and we had a quick prayer over the phone to boost his sales today at the mall.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Hey you...yes I came for a quick "look see" at the latest posts. Listen Island, I declare into the heavens that your FH sales will be more than enough for what you need on Monday...The word of God said what is bound on earth is bound in heaven and you only need faith the size of a mustard seed, God is not like man, He can not lye and His word will never return void. You and FH and I along with all your sisters here (even though not online at this present) stand in agreement believing God for His blessings. Be encouraged my creative brillant sista...all is well :-)

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

I am so overcome...Im sittin here in an emotional mess..thank you ever so kindly Charlotte. FH is being honored tomm. in service for Black History month, for being an entrepeneur and uncompromised man of God. Although I have been out of work since the stroke...he has been unwavering. I am so happy to have found a support system even though online....although my tears are drowning me right now I thank you...my soloist cannot find the track I needfor my entrance song...so I am on the hunt for one on limewire network right now...u have truly been a great prayer warrior on here...and I just want to tell you how much my spirit has been uplifted.

Re: Centerpiece suggestions?

Hey ladies....hope u guys had a great weekend....service today was awesome. I went in search of my wedding arch...found one already lighted for 30$

but, I made a lil discovery...found a 4 pack of battery operated candle sticks...so I figured I will place them inside the tulle and pew bows...so there will be 6 on each side...12 in all.....with a small rose swag hanging from each pew.
