Wedding on $1500-$5000

My FH wants to spend a maximum of $1500 on our wedding and I'm pushing for $5000 like I originally planned for.Anybody have idea on what I can do for a Princess theme wedding on a budget of $1500, just in case I loose this fight? We will have to save and plan everything ourselves I dont really want family to pay because our families tend to try to take over everything.or they may feel they have a right to say something/plan something or even control our relationship because they put money into it. My future brother-in-law asked me what his donation will be spent on if he gives one....my obvious answer was the wedding. do I need to be more specific if he knows we're planning for a wedding? Was I being rude or out of line?

I don't think you were being out of line or rude.Your honesty is important and he may want to give you a donation large enough to really help you out.As a matter of fact, you may want to show him photos of some of your ideas.

Hi AlvinsLove I don't think you were being rude, I agree with PlatinumS' response. You may want to check sites like oriental trading and ebay to purchase your items. It can be done if you shop around and plan carefully. I bought some beautiful austrian crystal tiaras for less than $10 a piece. Is your wedding an evening wedding? How many people are in your bridal party. How large is your guest list? I have bought items from both of those places and the quality was surprisingly good. I am making my own programs, and that may be an option for your as well. Once you answer those questions, it will be easier for the vibriders to do what they do best :-)

Re: Wedding on $1500-$5000

Ok to answer the questions first.....I will be having between 6 and 10 in the wedding party not including FH and I.(2-4 men 2-4 women 1 flowergirl and 1 ring bearer) The wedding will take place in my future sister-in-laws back yard between 12 and 2pm,the reception will immediatly follow the ceramony. I'm looking at a maximum of 100-120 guest, not all will show up.FH has a very big family and there are more nieces and nephews than adults that MUST be there. On my side most of my family is out of state and I dont expect them to show so there will be a maximum of 30 including my friends.
So far I have given him a drawing of my imagined setup for the wedding and reception and he's okay with that. He has agred to raise the price up to $2500 instead of 1500.maybe as we get closer he will go up again (fingers crossed).I also had to buy material to give and example of the centerpieces I want which may change later.
As for the Brother....Can you believe he told my FH that I should have a limit of 500 for my wedding.........he got his nerves!I must have went off on him real quick, he didnt even know it was coming. He never really said he was going to give a donation and honestly he's in no position to do so because he needs to save for his 10 year marriage renewal thats in August the same year as our wedding.I almost told him what he can do with his possible donation. I dont even talk to him or around him about my plans anymore I go straight to his wife (matron of honor) and my FH because things get out of control with him.

Personally I like the way you answered him...if he is giving - When it is given - it is no longer your business.....I like the way you handled him...way to go!...now about that $1500, the ladies have some fabulous suggestions - but be prepared to make a lot of your own stuff and that should not be a problem, I am sure Island can help :-)

Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.

Re: Wedding on $1500-$5000

I have no problem with making my own things.I actually love the ides.I've been in the crafty mood since early 2005.It will add more of my personal touch to the day.FH even voluntered to help out if I needed him to make a centerpiece or two! If I do it myself I get the reward of knowing it is just how I wanted it to be and I dont have to pay anyone to do it for me. Now I'm checking sites for materials I need!

My decoration budget is $400, with some of the prices I've seen so far I can do alot with this small amount and still have plenty left over.

Re: Wedding on $1500-$5000

If you take your time and shop around you should be fine...are you getting married around any festivities in the year like Easter, Valentines (Church will not be decoratd only hall), Christmas, Thanksgiving? I asked because if you were that will save you a bundle on decorations because most place like the church and hall will have there our decoration then you can put that money somewhere else. Food for Thought!

Im getting married in mid March of 07.Not too far from Valentines Day, and my decorations will be hearts and roses.Since the wedding will be in my sister in laws back yard I will have to decorate everything myself. That isn't too bad because I have a unique idea on how I want it decorated. I will have to post pictures when I actually get everything together.
