I am getting ready to order my invitations. My date is June 9th. I plan on mailing them the second weekend in April. When should I tell the guests to respond by?

Hi. Normally you give 2 weeks before your date. Or whichever your caterer prefers. I am getting married Aug. 19,2006 and I am putting a resonse date for Aug.1, 2005. My caterer needs a final head count 1 week before event. Hope this helps.
Hey Soontobe---welcome to the site..we are all Divas her and I am sure you will fit in :-). I think 2 weeks is not enough time unless you have some people who really stick to time...you know how we wait for the last minute to do anything...I've heard that they should be issued 1 month before the actual date.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
Hi nlbostic, I've done a lot of "wedding reading" and I've read where 2 weeks is an appropriate amount of time. My date is July 15th and my response by date will be June 20th. I'm doing a little more than 2 weeks only because my wedding is 800 miles away and I need that grace period to get my mail before leaving for my destination on or about the 29th of June. If I had help with anything maybe I'd change the date. I'm going to have my mail forwarded to my parents home 800 miles away just in case I get some responses after the date but still in time. I've also read that you should call folks you haven't heard from by the due date 2 days after the date to see what's up. I hope I helped.

I am a little confued here...are we asking when should invitations be issued or when should we state RSVP?.....If its invitations issued - that is 1 month before the actual date and then they have 2 weeks before the actual event to respond......they have 2 weeks after receiving it to think about it....that's enough time

Ideally it should be 4 weeks from the date to include procrastinators. You don't want to miss a catering deadline if the mail is late or if someone responds late with 12 additional guests.
I know I'm late on this (I didn't even see this post) but I have to pay final balance 2 weeks (Sept 1) prior to my event (Sept 15). So when should I have my responses returned to me?
3 weeks before the event you should KNOW everyone who is coming. No response, assume it's a no. My rule of thumb is always add 10 extra people to your caterer. believe me there will be no food wasted.

I think May 15th or no later than May 20th.That should give you enough time figure out how much food to have for the reception.
Born Blessed!

Bossie, I agree with Rosey, 4 weeks is a good time and it also allows time for flexibility if you should need it.
