February 14 falls on a Saturday in 2009. Is any bride-to-be here planning a wedding on what is frequently called "the most romantic day of the year?" That probably would have been our 2nd choice for our wedding date because it would be the anniversary of our first date and one year to the day that DH proposed.

Just seen this post - we're getting married on Feb 14 2009 - FH's choice of date. We've been planning for about a year or so, but now there's only 4 months to go and it feels like we haven't done anything! It is one of the most romantic days of the year - but why does everyone insist on charging more because its Valentine's Day??
Flowers are more, entertainment people want more money....everybody wants money!!!!
I also said I didn't want any red in my colour scheme - but my aunty in law is making the cake (10 heart shaped cakes in the shape of a big heart, with a fountain in the middle - hope you can picture it!) and insists that it wouldn't be Valentine's day if there was no red! So my colour scheme is now turquoise and ivory, with a dash of red.
Beautiful colors, DiamondBride. I'm sorry about the high prices, but yes, some red will set it off!

Diamond I love the color combo, especially for a valentine's day wedding. Right after christmas I'm sure you'll find alot of red items you can use somehow marked down on clearence. You might can find red napkin rings, red crystal garland, red ribbon, red chargers, etc...
