Hello CC.....First, welcome to the site and second, do not let anyone put pressure on you....take your time and plan a party if you desire one and also take into consideration your budget...unless they are helping you pay for this party take your time.

Welcome to the boards Cece5. This is a wonderful site, with lots of resourceful ladies. Congratulations on your engagement. The engagement party (if you should chose to have one) is truly up to you. As Charly stated, don't allow anyone to put any pressure on you. Take your time, decide what you want, how much money you want to spend, the type of party, whether formal/informal. Congrats cece5! Start planning now and have it about a month after the engagement. It is used to announce your engagement as well as celebrate it. It would behove you to also have a concrete wedding date at that time as well. No one will take the engagement seriously otherwise! Don't make it a big production either. Save all that for your wedding and reception. lol

Yeah Rosey is so correct...can you imagine splurgging on the engagement party and then stress on because of lack of funds for the wedding....take your time honey and try to get as much help from family...maybe have a bbq in the back of parents (yours or his) yard.

Congratulations Cece and welcome! You have truly come to the right place for guidance and ideas about your upcoming wedding. I have found it to be the best thing since "sliced bread". (lol) At any rate, take your time to plan carefully with input from your FH of course. As for an engagement party, it's a great idea. My FH's parents are having one for us on tomorrow night and that's a blessing because that's one expense we don't have to incur. Thank you ladies! You have really been helpful sorri it has taken me so long to respond I actually forgot where i posted this at lol..But a BBq does sound nice b/c actually we will be doing this the weekend of Graduation My Fh will b graduating from Norfolk State Univ YAY I still have 2 semesters 2 go plz pray for me lol..But that's a perfect time b/c its in may and his family will b here for that event so why not knock out 2 birds w/1 stone..so how does that sound
