I was just realized that the backyard I live in is totally bare with the exception of a tree! Since it is my sister in laws house and she will be having a renewal wedding of her own Aug 07 I feel she is partly responsible to put plants or something in the yard but I dont think her husband (the famous brother of FH) will be too enthused about the idea. What should I do? How should I approach this situation. I have a year to prepare but if I have to buy and plant trees/bushes ect I need to get on this now to see how it will look.
Help me!!!!!!!!!! I really need help with this one becasue I know that gardening can be very time consuming and expensive for a wedding and I'm on a very very limited budget. What can I do?

Nope. You can RENT plants and shrubs and hey no watering! Also you want to keep the yard as bare as possible because of the catering trucks, people traffic, etc. No need to panic at all. If you think the yard is ugly, then YOU and only you need to plan what you are going to do for YOUR wedding. Let her do what she wants for hers.

Ok.Rosy you lifted a little weight off of me.......but where should I look for rental plants? I've never heard of that before, but that would be really great to do that way I get what I want and leave their yard the way it was before my wedding. The yard is not the best thing in the worrld but it has potential. I really want to make the grass very very green and fluffy and I know a good way to do that is to put down fertilizer to make it look nicer, but I dont know how they will feel about that (with the smell and all...ewwwww) and the fact that they let their sons (4 of them) play and ride their bikes al in the grass would cause problems if I did all of that and it got ruined.Another problem I have is with their ugly brick walls. They are a light pink/red and have spots on them. Some of the bricks look dingy and others have dark black spots on them ect...what can I do to improve/cover them without offending the owners? Or should I just leave them as they are since it is a backyard wedding?
They yard is rectangular estimated measurements are 40+feet wide and 100+ feet long so it will be a big space to cover/decorate.
You letting your nickers get caught up in a twist.....stop it!, "let your finger do the walking" (hint hint) and get the advise of a landscape artist. There shouldn't be a charge for advise and with it being rental, I am sure they will not have to do anything until the day or 2 before in question.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
Check out your party rental shops. They may have the rental plants and other things to help dress up the yard.

Great idea Platinum!

ok.I can start checking those out soon.
Hi Alvinslove, since it is your sister's home make sure that she is ok with your plans to do things in her yard. Also, are you open to choosing other locations like parks, botanical gardens etc. if you're concerned about the appearance of the house and the grass? I think Rosetta's suggestion was awesome, and like you I had never heard of that either. God luck and calm down your wedding will be gorgeous!

PB&J I like the botanical garden idea....at least AllieS would not have to worry so much about decoration...those places are already beautiful just one or two things as a personal touch also it may be cheaper than renting plants and hiring a landscape artist.

So true & it is definitely worth looking into. You might be surprised at your findings.

Hi every one! Yes I know a couple who got married at the Botanical Gardens for $400 only. From what i saw from pictures, it was beautiful!
There is no better time than right now to be happy.
On October 14, 2006 I will be Mrs. James!!!
Isn't this botanical attraction just as it says...."an attraction for the public"?..I asked cause we have one of them over here and it is only $100.00 to rent

Rony....yeah we do...when it is not Hurricane season and then after that "dog eat ya lunch"....Our hurricane season is June to November but we usually see a lot of action around August September...Hey I did not notice a "newbie"...sorry honey, your icon looks like Askalots (Septbride) and PB&J's (PureBliss) I did not look at the name and did not formally welcome you to the site...my bad "Aya"...Welcome :-)

Ayarna gyrl you had me on a search to find botaniclas in my area! But my FH said it probably wouldnt be a good idea to have our wedding in one considering the fact that I'm alergic to nature and almost every flower makes me sneeze (although I love them so much). FH doesn't want me to have a sneeze attack like the ones I have when he decides to buy me flowers..The bouquet will be enough to deal with so I dont need to be surrounded by them too.Or I may just be getting married with a swollen face or in the emergency room of the nearest hospital...so I took all of that in and immediately decided I will stick to my original plans.but that did spark an intrest in me.
A-love,sorry about your allergies. My mom and daughter are the same way with swollen faces.Lol.A friend of mine suggested the same thing to me but being that my wedding will be in Florida, I am nervous about having n outdoor wedding.Either the rain will "wash out" the wedding or it will be 100 degrees. Can you imagine my make up being ruined by sweat?I already have oily skin, I will shine more than 22 inch rims on an Escalade.

I feel you gyrl! I live in Cali near palm spings or should I say the desert! It be hot as hell out here and if its not too hot its too windy or raining.I am really nervous about an outdoor wedding too but I am praying everything will go just fine.Hopefully my guest wont fry like eggs in the sun or get blown away by the wind or drinched by the rain. or I just may be trying to squeeze about 100+ people into my sister in laws family/living room..........lol
I'm familiar with Fontana and Palm Springs.I drive 18 wheelers and I just left Cali a few days ago.The scenery is breathtaking, you know, with those beautiful mountains. That is one of the perfect places for an outdoor wedding.
Born Blessed!
Yeah the mountain view is perfect where I live.I wake up to clear sky views of the mountaind most mornings. It's nice to know somebody else sees what I see.
Yes, I spent the night at the Pilot Truckstop near Palm Springs. The sun rise over the mountains was beautiful.I have spent time at the TA truckstops in Ontario but you really can't enjoy the scenery because of the traffic. The scenery along I-15 is nice.Have you been on I-10 in Arizona and New Mexico?I love the desert over there.
Born Blessed!
yeah we drive that way when we take our semi annual trips to texas to visit family. I love being out there alone with the world. Its so peaceful and open.I love how it looks like your just gonna go right into the mountains but they play keep away because the closer you get the farther thay look. The TA truck stop in Ontario is so crowded! You cant enjoy anything over there. Its so noise and full all the time, and it way too close to the freeway.
Oh my goodness PlatinumS and AllieS you guys make me feel like I should be packing my bags for a much need vacation!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Rony, I'm serious. You'll be amazed at the scenery. When we talk about the desert, people think about what you see in the westerns movies. But the scenery is beautiful.I like driving out there.
Born Blessed!
Hey Hey Hey!...I'm one of those people who think western movie (helloooo)...take some pictures and post dem bad boys...ya'll know I am surrounded by water - that's all I see so yeah, I think western movies....just like how people think grass skirts and houses made of straws but not so....we are(The Bahamas) a metropolitan city just like New York, or LA, or even your part of the world....so sistas unless we show each other we will never know. Nah send those picture so I/we could stop thinking Western movies....and stop making me jealous.

You know I was speaking with my co-workers at lunchtime yesterday about possible honeymoon sites. After reading these posts, I realize that there is so much of the States that I have yet to see. I think I will mosey on over the travel agent and get some brochures for the west coast and see what's up!!!
Delight yourself in The Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart!Ps 37
Rony you should really consider coming out here to Sunny California! Its beautiful here 95% of the year. You could stay in a resort in Palm Springs or near one of the many beaches,Santa Monica or Venice are the best but since you live around water you probably want a change in scenary, or even go to Hollywood and go on tours! There is so much to do and the more time you have the more you can do.If you do decide to come out this way I can tell you where all the theme parks like Magic Mountain, Universal City and Disneyland...ooooooooooo you can honeymoon there!ok im getting carried away....Rony and Charley I will ask my mom to try to find some of my old pictures to post on here.I used to always take pictures of the mountains and the desert when we went to Texas....
Hey AllieS thanks, I really appreciate your input because since you actually live there it means that much more. You ladies are awesome!
