Honoring Mom

I need help!

I really want to something special for my mom. At first, I have thought about her and my dad walking me down the aisle, but I changed my mind.

Then, I read somewhere that after the father has walked the bride down the aisle, the bride could give a flower from her bouquet and give a kiss to mom. I thought that this guesture was so kind, but quite enough.

Anybody have any suggestions?

That is nice what you want to do with the flowers...maybe have someone sing a song to her at the reception also.

Re: Honoring Mom

I did not add that it should not be printed in the programme..it should be a surprise and the person singing should go get her from her table and take her to the middle of the dance floor where she will definitely be the center of attention and she should be showered with gifts or some flowers. Someone could probably read a poem written just for her...do you see how I am getting carried awasy here :-)

What can I say...you guys bring this outta me :-) plus moms are extremely special people, if I had a relationship with my mom that is what I would do for her. I know the relationship I have with my kids so I can express that.

Re: Honoring Mom

Since hearing that wonderful suggestion Charly, I will certainly put something like that in for my mother. My FHs mom is deceased. Do you think that honoring my mom will make him feel bad?

He may feel bad IF you ignore her as his mother even though she is not physically there...you can have a special tribute for her also as a surprise and do it before you tribute your mom. Do you have any liturgical dances in your church that can honor her?

I'm not really sure what I can do to honor his mom. His oldest sister will light a memorial candle for his mother. Perhaps I could do something else, but I don't know what to do.

Whatever you chose to do...just ensure that you honor her during the event cause if it was not for her...there would definitely be no wedding ah?

You are right!!!! She did me a favor by giving me such a wonderful man -- I will put some serious thought to it and to to FH to see if he has a few ideas. I will also mention it to future SIL for her thoughts as well.

Re: Honoring Mom

Actually ROny....I would not mention it to FH....I would ask SIL for any suggestions but leave it as a surprise for FH...that will only reiterate why you are the "one" that God ordained for him. Leave it as a surprise, I guarantee he will love you all the more :-)

I did the same thing and gave a kiss and a rose to my mother in law and hubby gave a kiss and a rose to my mother. People were oohing and awwing. It made my evil mother in law cry and she hugged me super tight. I was so shocked! lol

Re: Honoring Mom

QueenAkasha that is a good idea I wanted to do something special for my mom as well we are bestfriends. So my question is when in the wedding would you give her a flower. Would it be while my dad is still there at the end of the aisle after we walk down?

Re: Honoring Mom

Oh God, what a wonderful topic and idea. My mom and I are truly bestfriends. We shower each other with love, we cry together, we argue then make up, I tell her everything, and she gives her opinion about it all. If I didn't have my mom, I really don't know where I would be. I would love to acknowledge my mother because it is well deserved! But I want to do something special, really special. I want to do something she can't guess, but I wouldn't want anyone else (Besides my ViBride Sistahs) to know. So please tell me all of your wonderful ideas.
