I have a question that has been on my mind. What color under garments should be worn under your dress?...should it be black so that there is no chance that anyone will see (like we do with regular clothes) or should white be worn (which may indicate something)?

I think that it really doesn't matter what color your undergarment should be.Usually wedding dresses are layered or engulfed by tulle that your undergarments wouldn't be seen.I noticed that many places sell bridal undergarments in white. Are you wearing a petticoat under your gown?

And what exactly is a petticoat---excuse me for sounding dumb!

a petticoat is a slip. My mother made me wear white. She said you don't want anything other than white showing on your dress or under it. A black bra might peek out of the sides or top of a dress and it will ruin the look. She also said wear white underwear so that you will still look bridal (even virginal) when your husband helps you remove your dress on your wedding night.

Thanks Rosey for the clarification...man I must look really weird not kowing what petticoat is but I know the what a slip is.. ha....I like mommy even though I do not know if I would have been comfortable with her telling me that...but I love her none the less :-)

I didn't know what a petticoat was either. I'm wearing the color "nude" undergarments if it makes a difference. Now if I can wear colors (without them blaring through my gown) i'd probably chose red or white. My gown is made of chiffon, and both times I tried it on, I wore black undergarments.

Why are you wearing nude instead of black?...isn't black the safer way to go under a chiffon dress?

Like Rosey, I was told as a young girl that you wear white under white and ivory dresses for the purity aspect.

I'll be wearing white. I just always thought that was the way to go.

Nude is closer to my skin tone than black. When I wear black underees with shirts, you can still see my bra *it's hard being a honey brown, cinnammon complexed hottie*. I'll make the final call when I try on that dress again. (it's been two months since I put the thing on--trying to be good)

You sound like me - and when I say things like this my sister puts up her hand and says "whatever!"

Yeah Charly, I get that "whatever" or the "chile please!" from my sisters too. Gotta love family :-)
