His best friend set us up..our first contact was via phone, and we did that for months. I live in MD an he was in NY..we actually didn't want to meet, but his friend insisted we would be perfect for each other. So we decided to meet in NY Penn station..he said he saw me walking across the train station and thought he was out of his league because I was so beautiful...He told me he actually left an called me from outside so he could build up his nerve..I was hook then because I knew this poor blind man would need me! LOL!!! When I described myself I said I wore a blonde mohawk, had a big farhead, a lazy eye, six fingers, 4 feet tall, 195 pounds, one stumpy leg, a wart on my nose, a hair hump on my back, and eight teeth...So I guess after visualizing that, I was beautiful. ROTFLMBAO!!!!!
LOL Phenom you crazy woman. My friends came from Harrisburg and wanted to go out to a club, so we went when we got there it wasn't really bumpin. So we just stood there for like 5 minutes then I just felt some one starring at us, so I took a peak over towards the left of the room and there this fine brotha was lookin at us I started thinking out loud like oh my goodness who is he looking at, not me he probably lookin at her, So I tried not to look, but every time I peaked he was looking. All this was going on and my friends had no idea, so one says lets go to the bathroom (we had to walk passed him to get there) so as i'm walking passed I turned away from him and do you know this man grabbed my hand and gently pulled me towards him and whispered in my ear "dance with me" he was real smooth ladies and smelled real good I thought for sure he was out of my league. We danced all night and when we left the club he did not leave my side he walked me to the truck and gave me (check this ladies) his cell, home, and office number and that's all she wrote!
I met my FH in the churchyard when we were four-years old. His grandmother went to church in the neighborhood where my grandmother lived, and we would play with the kids from the church on choir practice nights. We ended up being really good friends all throughout school and then, out of the blue, fell in love when we were adults. Those feelings of attraction caught us both off guard b/c we were so close in school. But, it feels great to be marrying a long time friend.

Niquey you are soooooo funny! I met my FH through one of my church sisters. She was having a birthday party for her husband and she invited my FH who was one of her co-workers at the time. After a brief introduction, we began to talk. I wasn't interested at first, but he was quite persistent. We exchanged numbers and went out for a movie and dinner later that week and that was all she wrote.

I forgot to mention... I knew he was a keeper because he remembered simple things that made me smile...I told him, when we first started communicating, that Krispy Kreme donuts were my favoritest donuts on the planet..when we go to his car, there was a dozen KK's on the front seat!!! Yeah Baby, YEAH!!!
Niquey, you are too much!Ladies, those are beautiful stories.Well, here's mine...I was working at another trucking company and I was doing local work around town.I went back to the terminal(home base in my city)drop off my truck and get my car to go home.As a was about to leave, I noticed a few guys fresh out of orientation coming out of one of the buildings. But one stopped in his tracks, mouth open, and just stared.I'm thinking 'whats his problem' and I left.A few weeks later,I was just returning home from New York and I was unloading some of my belongings out of my truck into my car.As I was walking past the fuel pumps, that same guy was pumping diesel and he got my attention. We had a great conversation and I gave him my cell#.He must have called 15 times!I was doing my relaxer and I told him that I'll come back to the terminal after I finish.Needless to say,I fell asleep with conditioner in my hair and missed his other 5 calls. He had left sweet messages.I came back to the terminal the next morning and apologized for not coming back.We hung out,had lunch, then he asked me to take him to the grocery store. He bought me flowers and chocolate. He left town that night but before he left,I asked for a hug and then I stepped back to tell him goodbye but he kissed me.I was hooked after that...And we've been together ever since!
We met at work. Now this dept. is 80% blue-collar men then 20% office personnel. When I started working here, all of the fellas were hitting on me left and right. I wasn't interested, so FH sat back and watched me *he says* for about 2 months only speaking to me passing in the hall. After all the hoopla was over, he finally peaked his head in my office and said can I speak to you for a second. We went outside and boy sparks flew. A second turned into about 30 minutes! Standing outside, in South FL sun, in the peak of summer. Sweat beading down our faces but we didn't care b/c we were so into each other. If his foreman didn't walk outside to his truck, who knows how long we would've been out there talking. It started from there...didn't make any official announcements at work until about 8 months later. We maintained a professional decorum at work (and still do) and we get compliments on it all the time. Now 3 years later, we're getting married.
I'm a married woman as of December 2, 2006.

Thank you,Rony.Cin,thats a beautiful story. In my case,my work place was 90% blue collar,10% office. And yes, I feel you on "getting hit on at work".In the blue collar section of the company, it's 97% male.Let me add the fact that in our initial conversation,I didn't really want to talk to him for 2 reasons:
1.There's an 10 year age gap between us and I didn't want to get involved with an older man.
2.I didn't want to date another driver in my company.Tried it once, didn't like it because everyone is in your business.
PlatinumS wow I don't know what I would go crazy around all that male energy -- I don't know but I need a balance -- I guess you just get used to it. It had positive effects for you and Cin because you met your husbands.

Thanks ladies! Rhonda, you just have to maintain as best you can. It was easy for me...All the guys I thought were attractive were married (too old) or had 'baby mama' issues. My FH flew under my radar, though. FH was so guarded (always wore sunglasses so I didn't see those wonderful brown eyes he has!) and he doesn't look 'approachable' at all! He said he waited to approach me b/c he thought I had to be taken already and he didn't want to seem like the rest of the guys(hounds) here. Mission accomplished!

When the speculations started flying around the office, this one lady all of a sudden wanted to hook my FH up with her "Ballerina" niece. She didn't know FH from the next man! All of a sudden she wants to cause friction. FH said she tried to push her niece's phone # on him! He said, sorry i'm taken. She pursued. He threw the phone number in the trash in her face & said "i'm a one woman man". Loved him ever since!

I met my FH at the carwash my junior year of HS, he was sooooo rude to me... I was really attracted to him, so I came on to him first but when we started talking, I thought he was very arrogant... We exchanged #s & he said he would call that nite (which he did) but I didn't answer...After about 2 weeks, I called him back because I was bored & ended up talking to him for 4 hours, I found that he wasn't really as rude as I thought he was, he was just shy & didn't really like getting that type of attention in public...We went to the mall about 2 weeks after that and we've been together ever since...
I met my FH on the internet (yes, I said it, on the internet) lol. We wrote messages back and forth for 2 months, then we progressed to talking on the phone for another 2 months and then we had our first date, which was FABULOUS -- I knew he was going to be my husband after our first date, actually. After the first date, we dated for about a year and 1/2 before he proposed. Now the really funny thing about our story is that we both live in the same city, went to the same college during the same years and knew many of the same people, but had never met unti we both happened to sign up for the same dating website (blackpeoplemeet.com). You just never know where you might find love!
I met my FH when I was on the way to see another guy (shhhhh, don't tell noooobody)! The guy played ball in Germany and was home playing in a charity game. The game was invite only and the door was locked. I went to the payphone (this was b4 everyone and their momma had cell phones) to call him to have me let in. As I walked back to my car (in the rain) FH yelled out his van window "My phone didn't ring!" I was not impressed so I got in my car and said "I don't have your number." He made a u-turn, jumped out the van (in the rain) and gave me his cell and home #. I didn't call for 2 months but him giving the home # made me keep his info. I was in the house bored one day and decided to pull the number out. We talked for a minute and he said "I can't lie. I don't remember how you look. Can we meet somewhere?" I agreed (he wasn't the only one with a bad memory). When I saw him pull up I was like DAMN! I am talking about 6'6, brown-skinned, cut-up, and just FINE! We went out 2 days later and ending up riding around Chicago for 3 hours after we left dinner just talking. Haven't been able to get rid of him since!
My brother in law was trying to convince his brother relocate here from PA and figured if he'd meet some one he would. One day i was over my sisters house celebrating my niece's birthday and my brother in law tossed me the phone and walked away. When I picked up the phone it was his brother (my now husband) saying how he heard so much about me. We talked a few minutes and I passed the phone back to my BIL and my sister just looked at me and laughed because it wasn't the first time my BIL tried to fix me up with someone. I told my BIL I'm not trying to meet anyone because like stella, i was just getting my groove back after a bad break up. My BIL said to late, I already gave him your home number. After a couple months of phone calls I went to PA to meet him and the CHEMISTRY Was Off The CHAIN !!! We decided right then we were a couple, dating long distance for a while. Eventually he did relocate. Fast forward 3 years and we married. Chemistry is still off the chain.

Ok I'm going to try to keep it short.Met him when I was 13 he was 14. Dated awhile, Fell in love. Parents broke us up for being to serious.Ran into each other senior year, spent the day were still in love but i had a boyfriend he a girlfriend and he was leaving for the navy. I married had 3 children, he married had 3 children, 10 years pass. He saw my picture while taking his nephew to school and came to the next open house. He was divorced but had a 6 month old baby, I was still married but we still had feelings for each other.I walked away. Another 10 years go by and my marriage was ending. He found me once again and advsd me he was never letting me out of his life again even if it only meant having me as a friend. We have had some trials joining 2 families, he has custody of his 2 sons, but we are in love and have been forever. We are truly Soulmates and the way this man loves me is remarkable. We were each other's 1st if you know what I mean and I don't regret a thing.

I met my husband through mutual friends at a bowling alley. It was definitely not love at first site for me, but it was for him he says. He was apprehensive about approaching me because I was 17 still in high school and he was 22. He finally got up the nerve and since I really wasn't on it, I almost gave him the wrong phone #. Well, I gave him the right #, and it was a whirlwind relationship from then. We met in Feb '97, I graduated in June, we moved in together in September, and got married in December!!!!!! Whooooooo, when I think back about it, I still can't believe it! Now we have 3 children ages 9, 7, and 3. We are celebrating our 10 year renewal August 11th, I didn't want to wait until December, it would be too cold here!!!! But we have grown up together and our love gets better everyday. Glad I gave the right # now ;)

Awww Abeni that was so cute. LAME, but cute! LOL Just joking! You two are cute together. I wish you the best!

Thanks for sharing the film. Seeing you & hearing your voice gave some life to the boards. You can really see the love between you two. I really wish you all the best. BTW, where did you win a honeymoon to?

Guys...
I'm just lovin' the stories. Reguardless if you met your FH in your early youth, at Barnes&Nobels, a bowling alley, online(thank God for the internet!), a family 'hook up'(ahem Pam), or whatever, it just goes to show you that you can't stop true love.
(TAJMOM I LOVE you guys story...that's SOULmates to the tee)
Abeni...girl yall two (ok this sounds weird) could be related, because you guys seem so much alike! Love the video, you are too sweet!
you can read our story(too long) at our website:
I met my FH in 9th grade. We were best friends and it grew into a relationship. We have been together 8 years so far and lovin it!!!
Welcome back Flawda, i haven't seen you on the boards since last year.
Thank you MsBoston. It kind of freaked FH and I out when we began to discover all that we did have in common lol. It works out though because we help each other when we write things or draw things. We even assist each other in teaching when we visit each other's churches so it works out well.
Thanks for the love Pam. We THOUGHT we won a trip to Mexico. We got a call that we had won a contest for a free vacation and all we had to too is watch this seminar on cookware. The person on the phone told us we didn't have to buy anything. So we get there and there are four other couples in the room and the salesman proceeds to pursuade us to buy $1000+ worth of cookware for about an hour. Some of the other couples actually bought this stuff! We didnt' buy anything and were awarded our vacation voucture. I was told I had to call and activate it within a years time to do use it.
Well FFIL is really paranoid about those kind of things in general and told me to look it up in the bbc. The bbc really wasn't any help so i just googled it and found hundreds of reviews of people getting ripped off by the same company!
Pam- thanks for the compliment
FH is a master barber by trade, but he is also an apprentice tailor working hard to get into tailoring full time(loving my free dress pants!)
Yes girl! From reading the posts on a whistle blower website I found out that when you call to activate your voucher, an operator either A. asks you to pay 50 bucks for a deposit, b. you get there and find out your being solicted to buy a time share, c the place you stay in is worse than a crack house or d. all of the above!!!
In all fairness I should have known better. FH and I were crest fallen. However. We've found that Carnival Cruise line and some other places offer discounts that are awesome (and legit!) if you book early so we may do that.
At least you guys had the forethought to get that mess checked out. You know what they say, if it's too good to be true...
& another thing, those timeshare people are ruthless, worse than a used care dealer. Talk about pressure.
I believe you. I'm so glad I never called that place. I feel bad for every one that got ripped off. Some of the stories were just so sad. When some of the folks got their cook where there were pieces missing and customer serivice gave them the run around. When other folks changed their minds after they signed up, not only did they get the run around, the cookwear company TORE UP their credit when they wanted their money back!
I first met...well saw FH when I was in 7th grade and he was in 8th. I was just coming from my locker going to homeroom and I turned around and saw him walking down the hall. I stood there and I remember thinking to myself that he was so cute. I loved his eyes because they were so squinty (he didn't know he needed glasses/contacts at the time) and his hair was so curly. Anyway, when we were in high school, (I was in 10th grade he was in 11th) he started dating my friend. She brought him to my house so I could meet him. Well, when I saw him, I flashed back to that day I saw him in the hall and I told him that I remembered him and he said that he remembered me too (the funny thing is that me, him and my friend all went to middle school together but they didn't remember each other being there). They eventually broke up and even after that he and I remained good PLATONIC friends. He got 2 more girlfriends, and they eventually broke up and one day while he was away at college, he sent me an IM telling me that he liked me and I told him that I liked him too and it was on and popping after that. Six years later we're planning our wedding.
hi guys I just dropped in to say hello. I am doing great! I dropped my commitment phobe boyfriend, lost 23 pounds, and went on a fabulous solo (by choice, I did not even invite my girlfriends) vacation. When I got back my new sweetie (from my past) was waiting 2 greet me. He says he wants a LTR and so do I so we will see how things go. Hugs.
His brother has always had issues with him. From telling people that when thy we little, their mom found FH in trash can & adopted him. Basically jealousy. But while he was in jail these last couple years, who did he call on when he needed money. Also, his brother used to like me and that didn't happen. now that he's out he really has issues with him, mainly because he's with me. Just last week, FH's nephew called me (as he always does) & his dad asked him who he was talking to & when he said it was me, I was called a b****, a slut & a whore & said I better not ever step foot over his house (which he lives with their mom) again. I called FH & FH called him & of course he kept hanging up on FH, but made the statement that when FH comes home he's gonna kick his a**. This we must see!!!
WOW! There's always someone that has to be a free agent for the enemy. Especially when it comes down to weddings. 1.I can't believe he swore like that around his child. That is one of my serious pet peaves and 2. Brother man needs to seriously let it go and grown up. All that name calling and threating sounds like just like little kids talking trash in the school yard. I'll be praying for him to gain some sense and maturity. If He could turn Paul around he can certainly turn your problem person around too.
My son jumped off some playground equipment and broke his elbow. I rushed him to one hospital only to be told after xrays they could not fix my son's arm and he had to be transported to the children's hospital by ambulance. Well, 2hrs and 45 min later in walks the paramedic and my knight in shining armour. I almost forgot about my son laying there cause I was to busy thanking God for sending his angel. During the ride to the 2nd hospital me and my FH chatted while my son starred at me wondering what I was doing. I gave him my number and we have been together ever since. The funny thing is, we were not suppose to be at the park that day and FH was not suppose to be at work. God sure can make a way....
Sistas,I'm curious. How did meet your FH?

This might be kind of corney, but FH is filming a documentary about us and here's the link where we discuss how we met.

For what ever the reason on the net it's kinda pixelized. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

Girl your FH is a CUTIE !!! You compliment each other nicely. I was alittle confused reading your story though, is he a tailor or hair stylist?
"I'm a work in progress, God is not through me yet"
Thank God I didn't buy anything!

Pam- thanks for the compliment
FH is a master barber by trade, but he is also an apprentice tailor working hard to get into tailoring full time(loving my free dress pants!)
so I guess you can say both.
Abeni,
So the free honeymoon was a scam?!?

Hugs.

TAJMOM,
Your story is similar to mine, even down to the fact that between the two of us, we have 7 kids (still God
"To Flow As One Is Love's Reward"
That was so cute. So did they think he had been killed? Why did his brother say that?
"To Flow As One Is Love's Reward"
