Ladies, Please Help Me!!

Ladies, Please Help Me!!

I am sooo lost on the order of events for the ceremony and reception. Here's my questions:

CEREMONY
I know I need music for: seating of guests, seating of parents, bridal party, and myself. The question is, do I just have an organist play something for the seating of the guests and the seating of parents, or should I have a cd playing?

Also, what happens if the bridal party is already down the aisle, but the song is not over? Do you let the song finish, or do you cut it off? Same question for when I walk down. Should the song stop once I'm down there, or should it keep playing?

Another thing, if I am supposed to use cd's for everything, should I have each song on a different cd, or record them all on one cd and just let it play?

RECEPTION
In what order should we do all the "spotlight" stuff like the cake cutting, toasts, first dance, etc....? I don't want to spend too much time doing all that stuff because I know by the time I get to the reception, I am going to be ready to "kick it". I want my guests to have fun and party, not spend the whole reception watching us dance and cut cake! That stuff is fun when you are the bride and groom, but from a guests point of view, that stuff becomes boring after a while.

I know this is long, and I have alot of questions, so if you can answer at least one of them, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGG girly. I thought I was bad. lol Just kidding ya. I'm quite sure the ladies here can help you but this is my suggestion(s). Will you be having a DJ? This will help with a lot of answers to your questions.

CEREMONY
For the seating of the guests, it's sometimes soft music being played (not like during the reception when the party has jumped off). lol When you or the bridal party are down the aisle, I suggesting letting the song play for about another 5 - 10 seconds then let it fade out. You can have your songs on 1 CD in the order that they will played.

RECEPTION
Usually, after the bridal party & you and your husband are introduced, you can have the first dance. After the dance you can do the toast, then PARTY. The cake cutting is usually the last event (about an hour before the reception is over).

Ladies please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ceremony
I say that you should let the song play until 95% of all the guest seated then stop the music. I say 95% because some of your guest will come about 5 or 10 minutes late. The bridal Party music should stop once the ring bearer has reached the front of the church and stands in place. The same thing would go for your music, once your father gets you up there and your grooms take your hand the music should stop and the ceremony should then begin.

THE RECEPTION
You and your husband & the bridal party are introduced, then the first dance could be about 2-3 minutes, the cake is and will be the last event so you have enough of time to party and have a great time.

Yes newbie, I have soft music playing for the seating of my parents, I have a soloist for the bridal party (singing off a cd), and a soloist singing "you are so beauitful" when I come down (off cd)

Actually I have the bridal party introduced as the came down the aisle then him and I will walk in!

not stressed anymore! Thanks to my Vibrides!! :)

Hi everyone. I haven't been on the boards in a while, been very busy lately. Bride2be805, you don't have to go exactly by the book. Anything goes these days. My FH and I call our wedding a "Partritional Wedding". Part tradition, part not. You have to visualize what you want. Here's a sample of OUR CEREMONY: Seating of guest, A saxophonist. Seating of family and groomsmen, A beautiful song by Celine Dion where we'll make sure at rehearsal the last person to come down the aisle "Broom Bearer" will be on point with the ending of the song. Bridesmaids/Jr. maids, Canon in D which can be faded out. The Flowergirls will come down on a song I found on a wedding CD that is instrumental so whenever they get to the front it can be faded out. All of the above songs are on one CD. My song was edited by a music teacher so I have a long version and a short version. During rehearsal I'll walk down the aisle with headphones so only I can hear the song and decide which version I'll use. It's on a CD also. The recessional song is by Mendelssohn. Hope that helped a bit.
RECEPTION: Our main hostess will welcome everyone etc. After the bridal party is introduced then us, we're going right into our first dance. After our dance while we're still fresh we're going to have the cake cutting/picture. Dinner will be served, after dinner the Toast, Father/Daughter Dance afterwhich will mark the beginning of the "Parrtay" kicking it off with the electric slide. That song is not out of style yet. I hope this sort of helped. Again I say, Visualize what you want, there's no right or wrong way. Pray about it and things will be alright.
