What do you actually remember from all the weddings you been to?

B2b, this is a great subject!!! I can't wait to see all of the posts the come from this. Here's what I remember:

1) The bride's dress - if it was BEAUTIFUL or just okay. I don't remember the details though.

2) The entrance as they are introduced as husband and wife.

3) The bride/groom & father/daughter dances.

4) If I enjoyed myself.

B2b weddings are so hard to remember what you like and don

I havent been to too many wedding in my 22 years of living but I do remember a few things:
1.What the brides dress was like. I pay attention to the smallest detail of the brides dress, from the sequence and beading to the petticoat she used and the way the corset was tied.I remember my moms dress perfectly because I spilled Catsup on it before the reception (I was 2 and she took me to Mc Donalds to get a happy meal)
2.The Food.People almost always have chicken and fish but if it was really good I could tell you and if not I will definatly tell you after the honeymoon.

3.the decorations. I like to see everything.I want to get there before everybody else does so I cna see the room as a whole before the other guest get there because at the end of the night it wont look the same.

Good question!The last wedding I attended was my brother's back in 2004.I was one of the bridesmaids.Unfortunately,I was injured in an accident two months before and I was on crutches.I remember:

1.The food was pretty good.
2.The photographer didn't show up until after the ceremony.
3.The soloists were great singers.
4.The most important thing I remember is that as soon as I came down the aisle,I looked up and saw my brother.He looked so happy!But then, I noticed that he had tears streaming down his face.He later told me that he was touched that I still participated in the ceremony.Even though I was on crutches.

Before making this my business, the only things I remembered were;
1. if the gown was nice
2. the color the BM's had on
3. if the children in the wedding were funny (cause they always are, when they're 5 and under)
4. if anybody had gold teeth
5. if the music was good
6. if anything was unique about the ceremony

I don't eat much when I go to weddings so I can't comment on food.

If I look ack in my mental rolodex I think these stick in my mind:
1. What the brides dress looks like.
2. The grooms reaction when he sees her.
3. The BM's dresses
4. If it statrted on time
5. How the reception was decorated
6. If it was a fun and upbeat event.

GOODNESS NIQUEY.....WATCH THAT ROCK....WOW!!!!

I remember every little detail....I've been to a few weddings and remember everything...

I notice when there is a used isle runner, or a used feathered pen, dirty sign in book. One thing that sticks out is one wedding back in 1993, the bride was somewhat on the fliffy side and her dress was too tight...all you could see was the lining of her gurdle (spelling??)...I thought to myself, my goodness couldn't her maid of honor tell her about that...geesh!...and what made it worst was that the dress was homemade.....

I notice when jewlery are different, hair styles are different, shoes are different, bridal party chewing gum (the worst!), men wearing long gold chains outside of their tuxe (good lord!)...all in all....nothing passes me!. And when the father giver has on an off color suite that does not match (went to a wedding like that before)

Cold food, running out of food and then have to serve a substitute (like KFC), paper plates, plastic utensils, tables not decorated the same, family serving at an upscale wedding and they are dressed formally.....

People I am one of those persons who critique everything...you don't want to slip up with me at your wedding.

Dang Charley, nothing gets past you huh? I think you may want to pray over your true calling in life and pursue detective work...lol! You bring up some pretty good points tho.

What sticks out most for me is the look on the bride and grooms faces, do they look happy or even remotely exxcited to be there. Esp since I feel that their vibe is important in setting the tone of the wedding.

I'm big on music so I pay attention to the lyrics in songs and I find it interesting how ppl go from a totally solemn ceremony with a string quartet softly accompanying an organist and soloist singing Ave Maria for example then at the reception they bust out with some Luke and Trick Daddy!

Before I got married, I'd always keep my eye on the eligible bachelors, it was a nice way to broaden my dating horizons.

Niquey, at my sister's wedding, my daughter (age 4) was the FG. Well before the vows was said, my daughter was looking at me and lipped "I gotta go to the bathroom". I was so mad - then she sprinkled on my dress - I was too through then. lol

All these are good things to remember but the most informant thing to remember is that 2Souls and 2 Hearts are finally becoming 1 Soul and 1 Heart after all the time they spend searching for each other, now they are a whole.

Great question B2B! I ususally remember:
1) The bridal party attire, groomsmen, etc.
2) The music that was played during the ceremony
3) If the wedding started on time or not -- I can give room for a few minutes or so, but I've been to too many weddings that were 2 or more hours late. I just pray that I won't be like that.
4) If the food at the reception was good

Those things are all about self gratification. What you want your wedding to look like and what you want to have for your wedding. It's not that I don't mention them I just thought the things I mentioned where in the "stupid things that happen at weddings" section.

For instance...my bouquet will be like Princess Diana's bouquet...that is what Charlotte wants and what she wanted from her first wedding and could not afford, so this time she will have it, I really do not care if people notices it or not, it's all about me and my passion for flowers and how good they make me feel and how beautiful they are....that's why I want it.

But that's the thing...you said "according to some guests"....who cares what your guests think,..it's your wedding and if you don't want flowers then substitute something else like crystals...there is a post on here about crystal bouquets etc....go check it out.

Gurl I see what you mean! Great point. I do know that if those things centerpieces, etc. were shabby people would definitely remember that, so I guess "stressing" over these things can't be helped.

That's the problem.....take the emphasis off people and put it on YOU and what YOU want, add YOUR own special touch and YOU would amaze YOURself.

Charly, I understand what you are saying. And that is exactly what I'm doing, what will make Katrease and Eric happy on their wedding day! Nothing I'm doing is to please any guest (although, I was a little worried about my favors but that was last years worry). You will find that when you are doing somethign to satisfy you, things will go over much smoother. B2b, someone will always have something to say about something! If you're not a flower person, substitute it for what you do like. Unique weddings are the best - and your guests are sure to remember that!

Girl you know you should have let that baby go potty! LOL!!
I was in one and the flower girl slip was making her itch. She kept wiggling and scratching so I held her hands, girlie screamed "it's itching me" and started wiggling all over the place. LOL!!

I also remember going to a cousin's wedding a long time ago and seeing the singers.They sang "Endless Love".Apparently, they didn't rehearse the song because they were reading it from a piece of paper.And even worse,the lady forgot where she was reading from.The man looked at her then proceeded to sing her portion.I guess to avoid further embarassment.

I remember the look on my mother's face at my brother's wedding when she saw that the Grandmother of the bride and she had on the same outfit!

Don't get me wrong, I remember the good things about weddings as well.Seeing the wedding colors and decorations,the little kids all dressed up,and hearing the pastor speak.Paying close attention to how he/she speaks of love and sanctity in the marriage.Seeing how happy the bride and groom are.

Thats bad Platinum...when grandma and you have the same style....I would have been very upset.....poor mama....lol

I remember a lot of things about the wedding, but the few things that stick out the most to me are

1. The specialty of the ceremony
2. The music cause I love to dance
3. The favors that the bride and groom pass out

1. I always remember if the music was really good or really corny.
2. I always remember if we had to sit and wait to eat or if the reception flowed.
3. I always remember the father/daughter dance and if they cried.
4. I always remember if the toasts were in good or bad taste.

I went to a wedding in July and the MOH kept saying how tough it was for them to get to the altar and kept bringing up all the bad things the groom has done and how the bride wouldn't be there without her. Completely out of place!

My cousin got married last year and her wedding was so beautiful that no on noticed that she didn't have a bouquet! Her coordinator had misplaced it! At the reception, she asked me if it was noticeable that she didn't have a bouquet and I said I hadn't even realized it. She was sooo beautiful and happy, that is all that mattered!

Ajia, how did the bride handle it?

She let her say it. I would have gotten up or nudged her to stop but she let her say it all, putting all of their business out on display. We as the guests felt so uncomfortable. The groom did too.

Girl, she was a lot better than me. She WOULD NOT have finished. Either me, my mother, my cousin, another friend or SOMEBODY would've stopped her.

I remember how good the food was.
I don't mind if they stay long when taking pictures.
I don't remember all the details of the bride's dress but I remember how she looked in it.
The bridal party colours and dress style.
I do remember everything about the cake.I go up close to this.
I tend to wander off in my mind during the speeches.
I do remember when the DJ plays inappropiate songs eg.talking about splitting up etc.

See that is why I am going over speeches, and have set time aside to help write speeches.

The last wedding I went to was HORRENDUS (ok I spelled it wrong) wedding Late,cater late wedding started at 3 we did nt eat until almost 9, coordinator did nt know the name of the members in the wedding party. Just Awful!!! The 1 b4 was great. The thing i remember most was the groom,a navy man, started crying as she came down the aisle. All the guys were laughing and talking about how they were going to get him later, recalling the last time he cried was over a car. That was big for them. You cld see her shaking her head no during the ceremony. I asked her later what was going on. He was telling her how beautiful she was and begging for a kiss. I thought that was the most special thing.

Awww that really was! I wonder how my FH is going to act. He's so emotionless sometimes. It is really special to me when a man cries at the site of his bride. :-)

I usually don't remember favors, but my FH's friend got married last year. He's Hatian & she's Jamacian, they used that as their theme. Each table was named after a different town in both countries, island floral arrangements, etc. Anyway, they did cookbooks as their favors. It included hatian and jamacian recipies. It was well put together.

I admit favors are what I remember the most too. I like when it is something I can use later. crappy plastic hearts filled with jordan almonds are low on my list. Wine stoppers and cheese boards are a few od the best gifts I had recieved. I was at a wedding where they gave personalized bottles of wine! Just perfect.

My cousin did the wine, it had both of there nacmes on it ans there weddig date. It was rather nice. I as well always remember wedding favors.

I remebered the brides entrance and the way the groom looked at her as she approached more than anything else.

Rosie I'm with you. I wanted to give wine stoppers as our faors. i thought it was kinda different and was a nice idea, but fh vetoed me so I ordered a few for me and the bridal party.

I can understand your fh not wanting those because you have to consider maybe everyone doesn't drink wine.
