How popular is the bustle? I am thinking of doing it for my reception as my fiance and I have been practicing a dance and I want to be able to move freely. Are there any other alternatives to the bustle?

I am not sure if there are any alternatives, but I do know that having your dress bustled for the reception is still pretty popular. I have to have mine bustled because we are dancing as well and I have a semi-catherdral length train. Let me know if you do find any alternatives, I will check as well.
The only other option would be that loop under the train, who wants to cart that around all night? Here one of my favorite bustles; The Ballroom Bustle
Niquey girl you know I love you---I was just about to ask you what this was and low and behold, you have it posted. Your the best...is this item in your store maybe the ladies should contact you for more help.
Charlotte wishes you all a beautiful Christmas filled with loads of love, laughter and the true meaning of this blessed season.
Thanks girls. The lady who sourced my dress for me is thinking of getting me a bustle brooch...have no idea what it looks like...it sounds pretty though. My dress also has the loop under the petticoat but that can really be a bother to carry around all night...

Charley,I thought that some dresses came like that. But,I also remember Islandbride saying that she had to get her dress bustled. Maybe she went to a seamstress?
Mine will also be bustled. Couldn't get the Ballroom Bustle because it would have taken away from the designs on the dress. That's a sweet looking dress.
God is good all the time and all the time God is good
Let me see if I get this right....when one speaks of bustling a dress it is the process by which you pull up the train and pin it up in the back correct?

Ya know what I like...I saw this on a wedding somewhere....there is a string like thing that goes around your wrist that holds the train....I would rather that....I just like that effect I guess.

Some gowns come with ties for bustling, most don't. A bustle brooch is just a brooch used to accent a bustle point.

Yep! But now there are a ton of different ways to do that.

Depending on the style and where you purchase the dress, you may be able to request them to make the train detachable.
Born Blessed!
I love the idea of a bustle brooch. Any extra bling is fine with me. Can you oimagine the light hitting it and your tiara... lovely.
